Only a matter of time before they get thrown into another war. Say, [sp]The Second American Revolution?[/sp]
Second American Revolution? What are you British up to?!
There are some members on facepunch who weren't even born when this whole war began Sure has been a while
There are some members on facepunch who weren't even born when this whole war began
I don't think there are any 8-year-olds posting, but you can never know with some of the people on here.
I'm still refusing to believe this happened. Knowing that this war has been going on has been a part of my life since I was but a wee lad. Now it's over... and nothing feels different to me. Not yet. Maybe when I notice the severe lack of IED-related deaths and kidnappings in the news I'll come to accept this. Right now, though, I just can't force myself to accept that this is real. I'm not saying the war ending is a bad thing, I'm just saying that this war lasted so long that for it to end so abruptly... well, you get how I fell, right?
You do realise there is still a war going on in Afghanistan right, and that most of the IED related deaths and injuries in the last few years have come from there.

So are we actually out for good or are there still a lot of troops left there on US bases?
I wouldn't be surprised if they left special teams there.
Finally some decent news among all the chaos and idiocy these days
Is the war over yet?
And just when I had joined the Marines, too...
yeah well, you should've joined the police force instead that way you could shoot Americans! Even better man!
Actually, I was thinking more about Veteran Benefits. Seeing as we would no longer be in wartime, my Veteran Benefits down the line would be greatly reduced.
Wait for Iran, then you will get a real challenge instead of just some homeless insurgents.
Somehow I doubt all the soldiers are truly out
Somehow I doubt all the soldiers are truly out
Virtually all of the official ones are.
good
America needs to go to war in a more green country. I am tired of desert FPSes.
Virtually all of the official ones are.
What's an "unofficial" soldier? Is fucking Rambo up in Iraq?
Hopefully it's not like when troops came back from Vietnam.
Urg. Watching Apocalypse Now and the Redux version at 3AM in the morning makes this clip specifically terrorizing
Too bad America has zero jobs waiting for all those troops who: Have high risk of unemployment* Have high risk of homelessness Have high risk of suicide Have high risk of post traumatic stress disorder Facts: - Approx. 33% of homeless males in the U.S. are veterans. On any given night, more than 300,000 veterans are living on the streets or in shelters in the U.S. - Veterans are twice as likely as other Americans to become chronically homeless - 45% of homeless veterans suffer from mental illness including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) - The number of homeless Vietnam-era veterans, male and female, is greater than the number of soldiers who died during the war - 19% of Iraq veterans report a mental health problem, and more than 11% of Afghanistan veterans source: http://www.veteransinc.org/about-us/statistics/ Obama: Do more than bring our troops home. FFS, help them find a fucking job.
What's an "unofficial" soldier? Is fucking Rambo up in Iraq?
Yeah, there are probably still quite a few special forces still there.
Have high risk of unemployed
Another thing Obama will be able to add to his campaign for 2012. This is great news. Let's hope Afghanistan follows soon.
Finally, it's over. And to all those fucking naysayers who said we would be stuck there forever-IN YOUR face.

Thanks for cutting and running Obama! oh and it is fine that the country that we helped liberalite wont pay us back for the massive debt we collected during this pointless war, that's so cool with me! On a lighter note... at least it's somewhat over
I really hope the government assists these soldiers in welfare and jobs when they return, but I highly doubt that.
Of course they need their troops back. So that they can "liberate" Iran next year.
