Oh well then, if he might of come back with a gun then riddle him with bullets. Infact whenever someone says anything along the line of "I'll kill you" it's better to take justice into your own hands right then and there and kill them, just in case.
a death threat from a criminal who has targeted you multiple times is much more credible than a death threat from basically anyone else
Because in America home intruders are morally on-par with serial murderers and child rapists.
What's the difference between a home intruder and a murderer/rapist who breaks into a house (when, in the heat of the moment, you don't have a fucking clue why this person is breaking into your house)?

In person? I don't see why not. They made a threat of lethal force, respond in kind to eliminate the threat.

Well the roads are going to be a bloody place if we follow your logic. People always yell stupid shit while driving. If someone is in your house then yeah go ahead shoot them if they are a threat, if they are leaving then clearly the imminent threat has passed and it should be up to the police from that point on.
What the kid did is not illegal in Alabama; he *didn't* start shooting before the suspect started running, but the suspect was verbally abusive, gave the kid reason to be scared, and did not stop despite having a gun pulled on him; and again: it's Alabama. Private property is pretty highly regarded in that state and burgling an occupied house is basically attempting suicide.
And this is good. We need more ironclad Castle Doctrines around the country.
It's pretty fucking simple: don't start trouble, there won't be trouble. If you don't want to get shot, and quite possibly die in the process, don't break into other people's houses. Don't threaten them, don't steal from them, and/or don't try to kill them in the first place... common sense really. If you do, they should have every right to use force against you-- and that should be the end of the matter. If you are killed in the process, too bad; you were in the wrong to begin with.

That's why it's about home defense not shooting the shit out of people willynilly.
Why are people praising the kid? His mannerism is that of a psychopath.
In this thread: People trying to justify their rabid hate-boner for American gun policy when this is one of the few cases in which its actually justified
Why are people praising the kid? His mannerism is that of a psychopath.
literally impossible to determine that from this article. psychopathy is being void of morals, not having morals different from yours.

A guy running away isn't an active threat to your life. There's no need to resort to lethal force. If they threatened to kill you and you are certain they will try, prepare yourself for when they actually come back to fuck you up.
You don't shoot fleeing criminals, it's unjustifiable when all they've done is stolen replaceable or recoverable shit.
he shot at him 12 times....
Is noone thinking he's a psychopath or what?

Please explain Mr. Ph.d in child psychology.

He's a goddamn kid and someone broke in his house, ya the thief was attempting to get away and the kid was probably scared absolutely shitless.
Please explain Mr. Ph.d in child psychology.
Going "cried like a baby" after shooting someone is a red flag for any person who says that, for a child that's a huge one. All you need to realize that is average intelligence, hope that's not a problem for you.
literally impossible to determine that from this article. psychopathy is being void of morals, not having morals different from yours.
Psychopathy is having little to no empathy or remorse, there's a difference.
In this thread: People trying to justify their rabid hate-boner for American gun policy when this is one of the few cases in which its actually justified
In this thread: people calling this kid a fucking psychopath in the making because he clearly is one.
Shooting a man should never be trivial.
So him feeling empowered by stopping someone who:
1. Broke in multiple times.
2. Threatened to kill the kid
then saying "He cried like a baby." is sign of being a psychopath? Give me a break not everyone is willing to let people fuck them over and just because they don't doesn't make them a psychopath. If the kid has a history of torturing animals or getting a kick out of hurting innocent people or animals then you can call him a psychopath.
Psychopathy is having little to no empathy or remorse, there's a difference.
that is true, however, lacking empathy for some, such as those you perceive as a threat, does not mean you lack empathy in general.

i'm no gun expert, but when you fire a gun once i'm p sure you think "i want to kill him".
When you shoot 12 times, that means you're desperate to kill him. And that is just a little bit messed up m8, dunno bout u. maybe this is where our cultures kind of drift apart, but the entire aura of this news story is baffling.
If that shit were to happen here, it would be so focused on kids, the parents and the use of weapons rather than some doofus thief.

Shooting at him 11 times and then not showing any signs of being remorseful of the fact that he just shot a man is pretty fucking odd. Life isn't a movie. People aren't hardened badasses for saying this shit.
11 times probably because you know he's not a trained marksman and he's a kid, it's not odd that he was trying to stop someone who scared and threatened him and had broken in multiples times and doesn't give a fuck about his well being.
You don't shoot fleeing criminals, it's unjustifiable when all they've done is stolen replaceable or recoverable shit.
You do if they've broken into your house repeatedly, while you're home, and recently made threats against your life, knowing full well that you have a fire arm at your disposal.
I have no sympathy for someone who breaks into someone's house and doesn't just drop everything and run the second they realize someone else is in the home. If you decide to continue or still attempt to grab shit on your way out then you've made the decision that stealing someone else's property is more important than your own life.
You do if they've broken into your house repeatedly.
so may as well leave your child at home alone then.
If the kid has a history of torturing animals or getting a kick out of hurting innocent people or animals then you can call him a psychopath.
Because hurting animals makes you a psycho but hurting people makes you a hero. Mocking someone who you shot seems like something an unstable person would do. It's a sign of taking pleasure in hurting others. And if a child reacts like that to his first shooting, that's alarming.
Wanna reread what you quoted? I said innocent people as well and this person wasn't innocent I'm sure the kid feels proud of stopping the fucker and potentially protecting his family which is a normal feeling he's in no way shape or form a psychopath for reacting in this way to this particular incident some people have the fight or flight instinct and it just so happens he got angry and his instincts to protect his family from a possible future attack kicked in.

He's 11, what sort of instinct are you talking about, what? Are american kids hardened combatants? I don't know anymore.
He's 11, what sort of instinct are you talking about, what? Are american kids hardened combatants? I don't know anymore.
fight or flight is an instinct all humans have.
The instincts that we as humans have if you wanna act like a psychologist why don't you look into actually learning some fucking psychology before accusing this kid of being out of the norm.
so may as well leave your child at home alone then.
Don't fucking edit my quote to make it look like I didn't make it a very specific scenario when I was justifying the kids actions, that coma is there for a reason, that's not the end of the sentence.
seems very clear to me this is a difference in culture. americans are far more defensive of their property and right to defend it than it seems europeans are, a holdover from the frontiertimes i imagine
fight or flight is an instinct all humans have.

yes, so glad someone got that right.
fight or flight is an instinct all humans have.
Does the fight part of it also include mocking your target?
