Death penalty is wrong but not really for JDK's reasons.
Cost of lethal injection (rough guess): $750 Cost of gas chamber (rough guess): $400 Cost of firing squad: ~$2300 the first time (cost of guns). All executions after that $5
you have no clue how the justice system works, do you? sometimes people sit on death row for 20 years. the costs of appeals, etc. all add up to cost more than a life sentence on average [editline]04:31PM[/editline]
Death penalty is wrong but not really for JDK's reasons.
no one has the right to extinguish a life that's why the death penalty is wrong [editline]04:31PM[/editline]
Of course it does you fuckin' pussy.
you're a fucking hypocrite and no better than them then
no idea what you're talking about.
he thinks that death row works like this in the US: *guilty *sentenced to death* *shot in the head the following morning*
Also, if a murderer has no right to take away lives, then why does the state?
no one has the right to extinguish a life that's why the death penalty is wrong
That's debatable. I prefer to focus on the facts, such as cost, mistaken conviction, history of judicial racism, etc.
no one has the right to extinguish a life that's why the death penalty is wrong
although I don't disagree with your statement, it seems you're vehemently imposing your morals on other people. there's no general consensus among humanity that killing is wrong. most countries put legal restrictions on killing unless it's beneficial for them, but that alone proves that legality doesn't gauge morality.
there's no general consensus among humanity that killing is wrong.
I don't know what reality you're in then because murder is generally regarded as the worst crime you can commit, and it carries the heaviest criminal sentence, etc.
in the country where I come from, what I said is an idiomatic phrase that means "oh I did not know that."
My apologies. To people supporting it just look up reasons to be against the death penalty or something like that. Here are some links http://asiapacific.amnesty.org/library/Index/ENGAFR010132004?open&of=ENG-2AF http://www.buzzle.com/articles/reasons-against-capital-punishment-death-penalty.html
That's debatable. I prefer to focus on the facts, such as cost, mistaken conviction, history of judicial racism, etc.
those are supporting facts
ITT: murdering others is okay
ITT: you should shut the fuck up, because if this happened to your cousin, sister or whatever you wouldn't say the same. And i bet you will reply to this post and say that you would still state the same. No you wouldn't because you haven't experienced it yet.
ITT: you should shut the fuck up, because if this happened to your cousin, sister or whatever you wouldn't say the same.
sure, I would be mad at them, but I wouldn't want them executed
if this happened to your cousin, sister or whatever you wouldn't say the same.

And i bet you will reply to this post and say that you would still state the same.
he thinks that death row works like this in the US: *guilty *sentenced to death* *shot in the head the following morning*
No thats what I want death row to work like.
No thats what I want death row to work like.
this is why you aren't in charge
I don't know what reality you're in then because murder is generally regarded as the worst crime you can commit, and it carries the heaviest criminal sentence, etc.
I'm in the same reality that you're in. Society has labeled certain reasons as acceptable to kill for. When you say "it carries the heaviest criminal sentence," I say that legality doesn't gauge morality. You might think that no one has the right to extinguish a life, but society happily turns a blind-eye to those killed in the name of war. Of course killing in self-defense is another issue. For however long humans have existed, they have killed when deemed beneficial. A small minority believing all life is sacred won't change how everyone else thinks.
They should just mobilize the National Guard and do 'Clean Sweeps'
I'm in the same reality that you're in. Society has labeled certain reasons as acceptable to kill for.
the only advanced nation that allows the death penalty still is the US so no your statement isn't that accurate the US is just behind in terms of human rights
the only advanced nation that allows the death penalty still is the US so no your statement isn't that accurate the US is just behind in terms of human rights
huh, would you look at that. :v:
5 people are at a crime scene, you happen to have a gun with you because you have a concealed weapon license. The police put you on death row and you get shot in the head the next day.
Why would I get shot?
Why would I get shot?
By chance, the firearm you had on you used the same caliber rounds that the victim was killed by, and you happened to have been firing off some practice rounds outside earlier that day leaving a gunpowder residue on your clothing. You didn't inform anyone that you would be shooting targets that day.
That's Chicago for you. You hear stuff like this happening here all the time. It's horrible. My sister and some of her friends were walking around the South Side one time when they got lost (Not sure how, but they got lost). My dad had to go drive there and pick them up. A few days later, we heard on the news that someone was shot and killed on the same street my sister and her friends were on. It's like a war zone down there.
Hm... I wonder which city is the worst (crime-wise). Chicago, Philadelphia, New Orleans, or New York...
By chance, the firearm you had on you used the same caliber rounds that the victim was killed by, and you happened to have been firing off some practice rounds outside earlier that day leaving a gunpowder residue on your clothing. They would test fire the bullets from my gun and compare them to the ones at the scene, they'd see that they didn't match.
This thread about the death penalty sure is interesting. Hm where should my 1000th post be.
You have to be convicted before you get sentenced. They would test fire the bullets from my gun and compare them to the ones at the scene, they'd see that they didn't match.
stand back guys, we have an expert forensics scientist here
stand back guys, we have an expert forensics scientist here
You're god damn right :c00lbert:
To repeat an ingenious suggestion. these people should have either a tattoo or a government official saying "This guy killed a little girl in cold blood" to everyone they ever direct communication at... say, for 5-10 years. would seem harsher than something as laughable as prison.
If your sister got killed, would you rather have the killer get killed in 5 minutes or would you have the killer suffer in prison until he dies?
I'd want everyone to know what he did and despise him for it. Especially if that'd torture him. If he doesn't care, i'd want him to do his 5-6 years and get locked in a psycologic ward where he won't kill anyone elses son just because they're behind bars with him. Crimes aren't all the same.
ITT: murdering others is okay
Murdering murders is fine if it stops the murdering murderers from murdering non-murderers.
