What did the US founding fathers own? Slaves! What did the original colonists bring over from ENGLAND? Slaves! What were original Americans? British! So guess what, the fact UK had it longer was a non sequitor. Regardless, the United states technically had it for the amount of time the British did as well. Just because you delcare independence, doesn't negate your past. Now if in the constitution, they were like "fuck ya'll brits, we be freeing the slaves up in here", then it would matter... excepppppppppppt they continued slavery and treated them far fucking worse then the British did. It actually got fucking worse lol. Not only THAT, slavery was abolished pretty easily in the UK. Uh, in the US, you guys killed 600.000 of your own, destroyed an entire nation, had an entire nation FORMED then realigned with your union. And to add another thing, ever hear of Jim Crow laws? Even after slavery was abolished, up to 1980's, blacks were segregated viciously. See, in Slavery, you were forced to work land. In Jim Crow times, you were raped and killed for calling a white women baby. Now in defence of your argument, yes the UK had a "jim crow" style period... but it wasn't NEARLY as vicious or long. The UK Jim Crow period lasted into the industrial revolution, then died down In the US, Americans had these style laws well into the 1980's. Hell, places like Italy and France became quite progressive for blacks. Hell, I read many accounts of Black soldiers during WW2 who were treated really well in Europe and were quite a hit with the white ladies there... Then went home and were hung by pissed off white guys wearing bed sheets. Europe had a lot of racism, but there was also a tonne of support. America was like 80/20 when it came to African Americans. So in reality, Europe did go through the racist phase, except they got out of it a lot earlier then the US did. Mainly 60 or so years before Using your argument's logic, the UK did it better because they had to legalise slavery while the us hit the ground running with slavery already legal.

Colonialism in it's entirety is not a good thing. Some good things came out of it, which a huge shit load of bad.
