Sound like a description of a mighty viking, but the door part completely ruined it, it should be a Drakkar or Longship...
Weren't a lot of vikings redheads though?
This is just the news making this a big deal out of nothing.
If we get some rain someone floods. If we get some wind someone dies. If it gets cold, everyone dies (this actually does happen)
It won't beat that year where it was winds of 120+ and the roof tiles on my house slid off and nearly killed my neighbor (semi-detached houses share the same tiles.)
My mum told me that a storm like this happened before I was born and that my neighbours roof was blown off.
I hope the greenhouses are ok, we already have enough green house gasses.

My mother was pregnant with my eldest brother during the '87 hurricane, and she gave him the middle name Damien because of it.
I live in the middle of the dangerzone but luckily i just left the UK yesterday for a week and wont be returning until the 5th so looks like i wont be there when it hits
80MPH? We've had that in some bad storms here in Toronto, not quite Hurricane weather though. We did have a hurricane once though, all the way up and inland in Toronto back in 1954, Hazel.

Obligatory. I reccommend loading a media player with this and listening to it at the first gust of wind.
I was thinking more on the lines of this

Weather in Netherlands is going to be extra shitty on monday, could it have something to do with this?
Weren't a lot of vikings redheads though?
Depends, blue eyed and blond haired viking might be highly romanticized, but that's what was considered pure and most of the time is recognizable instantly.
I was unaware that England could get hurricanes. that's some shit meteorological luck.
anybody know if Herts is in the danger zone?
Shit I'm right in the middle of it next to the sea.
Wind is already picking up, hopefully it will not blow my house down.

Unless you live in a shanty shack you should be fine.
Does anyone know the time it will hit? I am currently in Bath and will be heading up to Liverpool at 10am.
Also, there are actually two weather fronts moving in. The second should be over the UK around Wednesday effecting Scotland more so than anywhere else.
The met office website (last time I looked anyway) said they had no idea when it was going to get windy, just that it would at some point on Sunday.

Probably, you guys do seem to get shitty weather around the time we get it and vis versa. You are quite close after all.
I feel bad for you guys, we don't get such strong winds here in California's east bay. We just get told from the day we start school that the next earthquake which can hit at any time will completely annihilate us so live every day like it's your last
Hurricane force*
There's a big difference.
Yeah by this logic here in Michigan we just had a tropical storm due to wind gusts over 60mph
I was unaware that England could get hurricanes. that's some shit meteorological luck.
We get everything, just never for long enough to be used to it or enjoy it.
looks like garry pissed off god
......again.
Britain's gonna get rocked
look forward to flying high with you all, should be good :)
So can I get a non-sensationalist view on how this will compare with the great storm of 1987?

Looking forward to it.
Right in the danga zone.
See you on the other side. Send my regards to Orkel if I don't make it.
Shit, a tornado a few miles from me earlier in the week and now this. I really hope work isn't full of idiots fucking panic buying tomorrow.
-snip
So I'm in the 'danger area', and I'd like to provide both sides of the British attitude towards the weather:
OH MY FUCKING GOD WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE.
Oh, for God's sake, shut up. It'll probably be a light breeze.
I was about to say you should all take refuge up here in Scotland but then I realised the day-to-day weather here wouldn't be much different :v:
