*huge rant*
Agree with everything. Especially with Duke's design.
What do you expect from a game that took 12 years to be built and that changed hundreds of times which, in the end, turned into a pretty generic shooter. All of this in the CoD Era.
Yeah, development did start around 2001 then get shat on. They should've remade, not polished
can we all just agree that DNF is sub-par and was only released because it's a running joke
I've said it before; Duke Nukem is awesome as a meta-commentary on how shit gamers have become. They're turning into pseudo-intellectual assholes that want everything to be deep and shit. Something like Duke comes along and is light hearted and they loose their shit over it not beign 100% serious like their precious CoD and other games. Basically, I imagine a good chunk of DNF haters look like this. Also, I think the people who say that DNF is nothing like DN3D haven't actually played DN3D for a very long time and think it's some sort of Serious Sam predecessor. There isn't that much of a difference between DNF and DN3D.
Anyway time to sit back and wait for the people who didn't read it and think this is all my opinions and leave stupid replies.
I think it's TL;DR for them so they don't even try to reply
ziron could you explain to me how women constantly getting raped and murdered is light-hearted

Edit: As for DN3D and DNF differences, I kind of disagree gameplay wise, DN3D had a bit more feel but DNF is still enjoyable Edit: I have some CoD fanboy in my friends list who I know from school and he types terribly "wast of tiem" "I agree with this state meant" and one time he sent me "duke nukem is gay" or something. DNF wasn't even out. When someone said he should try TF2 back then he said he pirated it and didn't like it, well no fucking wonder, pirated versions of it are terrible. Then he complains about the cartoony work and if you called him a CoDfag he'd say "cartoonfag" Yeah, games with a graphical style are so terrible, fuck gameplay
ziron could you explain to me how women constantly getting raped and murdered is light-hearted
Could you explain to me where you even got this from Seriously, do you people even glance at the game
people dislike DNF not only because it has a terrible protagonist and game-play mechanics but also because it's offensive morally and visually
As for DN3D and DNF differences, I kind of disagree gameplay wise, DN3D had a bit more feel but DNF is still enjoyable
DN3D's combat relied a lot on cover because almost all of this heavy-hitting enemies use hitscan/bullet weapons. You need to constantly pop back and fourth out of cover in order to break their concentration so you could land a few shots while they were trying to lock onto you again. DNF has about a similar about of reliability on cover because of the ego system, but at least you could regain your health mid-battle by executing an enemy. In DN3D, you either need to use a portable medkit, run back and grab a stray medkit, or tough it out.
and how am i a cod fanboy?
Because if anyone says anything bad about CoD you flip your shit [editline]7th July 2011[/editline]
DN3D's combat relied a lot on cover because almost all of this heavy-hitting enemies use hitscan/bullet weapons. I found in DN3D I liked the fast movement and actual pop in and out fighting simple. DN3D was the first game that naturally taught me strafing and the "Cover popping" concepts. Edit: And I had first played that game a couple months before DNF, to be honest. And I was still able to beat easy as shit CoD :v: Edit: Im fine with easy, easy is kind of fun, but CoD just wasn't fun where it was ultra easy. DN3D was plenty hard and it was very fun.
also i think some people don't like duke because he's really eager to show off how awesome he is and nerds that play games are extremely humble and think they should never brag about something or it makes you a loser/bad person. but that's got way less evidence than "gamers are humorless aspies that are pseudo-intellectual, self-righteous shitheads that enjoy stroking their egos whenever they get a chance".
ITT: People who have not played Duke Nukem Forever commenting on how bad it is. It is actually a very fun and humorous game.
I watched one lengthy (20min?) gameplay video one or two days after its release and it convinced me not to buy it. Have fun playing DNF on my behalf though. :v:

FOX news. They wrote a bunch of stupid bullshit about it. "Duke beats a woman when she screams" ....This never happened. [editline]7th July 2011[/editline]
holy shit can you just accept the fact that DNF is a terrible game
Holy shit can you just accept the fact that the world doesn't revolve around you and your opinions are as valid as everyone's and that you're a total douche for writing things that aren't even true about the game. "Rape and murder of women" You're real cool, douche.
holy shit can you just accept the fact that DNF is a terrible game
sorry for having a different opinion. i guess i'll join the "hate dnf" brigade and wear a fedora to show how much of a douche i am.
I played the game, it left such a bad taste in my mouth. I don't really know how to describe it, but the gunplay just felt unresponsive and "sticky". The humor didn't appeal to me because it felt forced, not because it was immature.
Let's see that ban history, shall we? "Trolling" "Flaming" "Racism" "Thread-shitting" -Sanius (User was banned for this post ("Utterly pointless post. Don't do this." - Seiteki))
Let's see that ban history, shall we? "Trolling" "Flaming" "Racism" "Thread-shitting"
Oh come on, don't do this.
sorry for having a different opinion. i guess i'll join the "hate dnf" brigade and wear a fedora to show how much of a douche i am.
except you're not just stating your opinion on a video game. you're stating that people who have a differing opinion have aspergers. that's offensive
except you're not just stating your opinion on a video game. you're stating that people who have a differing opinion have aspergers. that's offensive
nothing wrong with stating facts bro
except you're not just stating your opinion on a video game. you're stating that people who have a differing opinion have aspergers. that's offensive
There wasn't a single thing in there about aspergers. Yet again you're trolling and righting bullshit about people Edit: I like the game and I have aspergers
There wasn't a single thing in there about aspergers.
an aspie is somebody with aspergers. read his post again
an aspie is somebody with aspergers. read his post again
Well then he's just wrong about that, I have aspergers and I like the game. What's offensive about aspergers, anyways? Edit: This message is hidden because Sanius is on your ignore list. View Post Remove user from ignore list So much better.

Never bought or even obtained otherwise, I knew it would be bad
Let's see that ban history, shall we? "Trolling" "Flaming" "Racism" "Thread-shitting" -Sanius
One of your bans has the explanation "Stop ruining this thread with your terrible posts". Glass houses, man. But more on topic, I think that DNF was just a meh-to-average game that got absolutely crucified due to having what was basically the largest buildup in videogame history. I wouldn't exactly want to play it over and over, but most of the reviews I read did their damnedest to convince me that it was on par with Big Rigs and that just ain't true.
i thought it was fun. not necessarily a good game, just like duke 3d as a shooter, it was mediocre, but as a duke game, it was good Edited: if you disagree with me and say "durr duke 3d non linear" it was pretty linear, just looking for keys i played it in the week before dnf was released to put it simply, it's like postal 2: bound to be a cult classic while being hated by critics
Eh, I don't care if it underperformed in sales. Lots of awesome things didn't bring in much dosh for the people who made it.
