Apart from my menu now being a terribly colored again I love this update. Searching is finally "everywhere" by default. I no longer have to use third party for a button (prefer the start screen over menu). IE11 got quite a few bugs tho, I prefer 10 right now but I guess they will fix it soon.

Has anyone noticed compatibility issues with older games? (such as tremulous?)

I booted on Windows 8 to install the update but I had forgotten how awkward the UI was. I think it's the first time I ragequit an OS.

However, I now have a new problem, I have two monitors and only one switches on with the latest drivers on 8.1 Now I'm trying to refresh windows 8.1 to see if the default ones are installed but I don't have the windows 8.1 iso only the windows 8 iso. Luckily I have another small one, but it's not really designed for playing games, the way the keys are spaced.

On my laptop with W8 and an SSD? I push restart and its pretty much almost immediately back at boot. Crazy. Still doesn't help Civ5 load times hardly at all sadly :v: I really want an SSD for my desktop but I'd have to reinstall windows and get a completely new OS install (likely windows 8 instead of w7 which is what I have now on my desktop). It'd just be a huge pain in the ass since I don't have a fat external or anything and I'd have to reinstall SO many programs that are a pain to install with all these product keys, accounts, etc. [editline]18th October 2013[/editline] Also for extra sexy set your desktop taskbar to hide so it looks like its a smooth transition between metro start screen and desktop programs. Obviously also have your start BG be your desktop BG I'm gonna have to spend some time with these icons to really snazzy up my start menu. I'm just sad I'm so busy with school so I don't have time or need to actually install all my creative/productivity stuff on my laptop at the moment. I'm basically just using it as a web browser and notes platform atm :(

all the 'fixes' for getting it to install on 8.1 preview were either misleading, options didn't exist, or it was done correctly and didn't help. Did a PC refresh overnight to restore myself to vanilla 8.000000 and now I gotta sift through a dozen updates and restarts, woo home desktop showed the upgrade option right away, been downloading/installing for almost 2 hours and should be done soon

Well I finally managed to get rid of the monitor problems but there was a lot of voodoo required and the catalyst crashes but at least both screens work now. Edit: But there's a few new problems, flash won't work and I get some artifacts when booting. I'm never going to buy amd graphic cards again.

Whelp, I think I'm going to need a new Windows key if I want 8.1. Is it worth it going from Win8 Standard to 8.1 Pro for the $70 student price?

Anyone know how to rearrange the navigation pane? I want my library shortcuts further up but I can't seem to do it :C
