everything else aside, I can't imagine how the emergency services trying to rescue him felt. There would be a pretty shitty feeling that it's you're job to save living beings, and you failed to do that in time. Poor guys probably saw him fall too. Bless them for the efforts though.
I really don't feel any sympathy for him, base jumping is one of the most extreme sports, and he chose to do it, even if he knew he had his life ahead of him and his wife was 6 months pregnant.
