That is horrible. I mean, comeon, the poor man will be in debt for his whole life, for making a software which makes downloading faster and easier. I do see why you'd want to stop piracy. Lets be honest people, there's no argument here, it's stealing. But I absoFUCKINGlutely hate the way they enforce it. They are trying to ruin lives, make examples. I mean, there has to be some kind of law which stops them from suing for these kinds of ridiculous sums of money. Fuck copyright. Fuck intellectual property, if I walk down the street singing a song, will they sue me? Shit sucks
I don't really see how they can fine people millions of dollars for downloading a couple of songs. I mean, a song is 79p, for goodness sake. Apart from greed, what other reason is there to justify such big fines?
So google should be held responsible for all child porn you can find through their search engine?
I do believe Google removes CP from the results.
Holy shit
I do believe Google removes CP from the results.
Yes, but that was not the point. The problem is that these lobbyists doesn't understand the technology and they're attacking the problem from the wrong angle.
1.5 trillion dollars is basically a 1/10th of USA's gdp (14 trillion). Only 8 countries have a higher gdp than 1.5t this would make the riaa richer than spain, canada etc. Oh and they would be taking more than the entire music and film industry has taken in the last century.
Does such amount of money even exist?
Does such amount of money even exist?
Read the post above yours.
Read the post above yours.
Sorry, I just only read the first page.
That's fine by me. I'm convinced anyone that uses Limewire is computer illiterate and is just asking for viruses and malware to infect their system.
nuh uh. i use frostwire so i cant get viruses :downs:
While I do agree with copyright, the fines are INSANE.
Honestly, I don't see what's wrong with limewire. If you have enough common sense to avoid the viruses, it is one of the easiest ways to download mass amounts of music quickly.

I remember limewire, back in 2005 it was the shit.
RIAA will get a penny from Limewire when hell freezes over.
Companies are made of multiple people, just because one person doesn't make that much doesn't mean companies can't.
The biggest company of 2010 so far is General Electric and they don't even have one trillion in assets, and not even 200Bil in Revenue And RIAA think that they've lost 1.5 Tril to people who were never going to buy the thing in the first place? What a joke
It's bartering, they say they want a ridiculous number, then they agree on something more reasonable. It's also to win the public opinion. If they say limewire stole trillions worth in songs, people might side with the RIAA.
Limewire didn't steal anything. To honestly believe that limewire stole $1.5 trillion in downloads is stupid.
Wow now this is taking it too far, really the RIAA needs to fuck off and grow up. Ruining people's isn't going to make people stop pirating shit at all. I think that it is time that we go to our people in Government to take action against the RIAA, that is if the RIAA didn't already pay them off. This in it's entirety is illegal, unjust, and morally unethical.
I remember reading an article somewhere where some record company bosses and some limewire bosses were at the same restaurant/bar. The record company guys had a slice of the limewire guys' pizza and they got really mad.

RIAA wants more money than there is in the world
I mean, there has to be some kind of law which stops them from suing for these kinds of ridiculous sums of money.
Yes there is, it's called the Eighth Amendment.
Germany had to pay 330 billion US$ for killing over 71 million allies and destroying large parts of France, Belgium, England, Poland, Russia and Luxembourg. Limewire has to pay 1500 billion US$ for supplying the means to download virtual property. Guys this is fair.

The RIAA needs to l2math. 750 x 200,000,000 is only 150 billion not 1.5 trillion. :colbert:

In the case of 1 song = $750, my iPod is currently valued at $3,152,250+
