So...everyone saves money on taxes. Tax income down significantly. http://www.bankrate.com/finance/taxes/tax-brackets.aspx The current brackets. Uhh...so tax revenue goes down even further. Apparently to pre-WWII rates, when our federal government was nothing and hardly even maintained a standing military, much less the massive variety of other tasks it engages in today. Which another nation will promptly beat. This is a race to the bottom, and we don't want to win. How about you just enforce current tax laws and prevent them from pulling this shit in the first place. If they want to pull out, they can do so at their leisure. Someone will gladly take their place. 0.2% of estates are subjected to this. They qualify because their value exceeds five million dollars. Cry me a fucking river. I see a whole lot of tax reduction. Like a staggering amount. This is not a maintainable level of revenue.
Not a Trump supporter, nor do I even think Trump's policies are good, but if you look at in the China section of his website, he plans to go after China and "Attack our debt and deficit by vigorously eliminating waste, fraud and abuse in the Federal government, ending redundant government programs, and growing the economy to increase tax revenues". Whatever that means.
"Yeah! Sanders should build a wall to keep all those mean old southerns out! And make them pay for it! Southerners make this country terrible, make America Great Aga- Oh wait."
It's a joke
I hate to say this, but every Sanders fan I've met face to face in LA HAS been a total jerk when approached with any level of questioning (of course most people in LA are not that pleasant). There are plenty people on here on Facepunch who have been more than helpful in educating me in areas of Sanders policies I lacked knowledge. The ones at my school and in my locality have been very much enthralled with the rhetoric and ideals without so much as grasping the actual facts that I've been privileged to find here to look over. So let me rephrase my entire statement: "Everyone on earth is an asshole. Everyone at my school is an extraordinary asshole."
Rhetoric is easy to follow, research requires effort. Unfortunately when most people are preoccupied with keeping food on their plates it's hard to actually do research on what the candidates do, what they stand for, and who they are. Hence why people tend to vote for sound-bytes, and Donald Trump has the loudest sound-byte and Hillary Clinton has the most individual sound-bytes. I kind of wish we had compulsory voting with a tax credit when you do so, so it's incentivized and maybe then people will actually do some damn research. But that's a pipe dream, people voting in America. And yeah everyone's an asshole, myself included.
It's a joke
Donald Trump started out as a joke and look at him now.
I kind of wish we had compulsory voting with a tax credit when you do so, so it's incentivized and maybe then people will actually do some damn research. But that's a pipe dream, people voting in America.
I don't like the idea of compulsory voting, I like to think that many of the people who don't vote simply don't vote because they don't put in the effort to figure out who the best candidates are (or they don't care), and realizing that, they don't feel like voting blindly. Kind of like not bothering to turn in a work or homework assignment you didn't bother to do. You could force them to turn it in, but it doesn't mean anyone's better off for it.
Donald Trump started out as a joke and look at him now.
To be fair, he fits right in considering how much of a joke this year's election cycle has been thus far.
Aw shucks, I missed the cody8295 meltdown. And ontopic: I wonder who the would-be Rubio votes will go to. Trump or Cruz?
And ontopic: I wonder who the would-be Rubio votes will go to. Trump or Cruz?
Kasich, hopefully.
Is he going to plunder China? Short of that, I'm pretty sure that is the wrong tree to be barking up. The "waste" in the federal government, according to him, includes the EPA and Department of Education. How could he possibly be trusted to pursue and pare down wasteful spending?
I'm ashamed of my countrymen and women for the rise of Trump and the support for HRC. The stain on our national honor is huge, and the developed world is right to laugh at our expense. This is 2016, not 1816. Why is it that the rest of the developed world gets to generally have its shit together but we have to be 'exceptional,' which lately just means objectively worse? THE SOUTH. The South, with their social conservatism and backwardness, poison our government with their tainted representatives that steal a large amount of seats which could be otherwise filled with progressive statesmen making laws. If we didn't have these bible huggin,' gay hating, poor people loathing, good ol' boys shitting up our government, we could join the world and move into the 21st fucking century. God I hate the South. Yes, it's irrational.:disgust:

Forcing people to vote alone isn't the solution, but it does help overcome the people who don't vote because they're can't be bothered. Of course, the election day would need to be made a federal holiday that mandate companies must provide off for their workers, or provide other options so that people can vote on a day that isn't in the middle of the work week for most.

That's scary when you realize that she'll never win those states in the general.

They prey on the ignorance of our citizens to the point that they rely on it. Forcing people to vote wouldn't fix anything, on the contrary you'd get more people putting out "Fuck it" votes for trump or similar candidates. Your assumption is that people aren't voting because they're too lazy, many just don't feel like picking their poison, there's no one in either party that represents them sufficiently so they feel no obligation to vote for anyone.
Trust me, I know. :suicide:
I really do hate how we start with the most conservative states first and to progressively towards liberal states.
You guys who are voting republican unless Trump wins, VOTE LIBERTARIAN!!! More libertarians are on the republican than democrat side, so hopefully enough of us can at least deny the nomination for Trump, and we don't have to vote for a shill like Hill. It's a win-win.
And with 99.9% reporting in Missouri, it looks like Hillary is going to take home every state tonight. RIP my sweet prince Bernie

RIP my sweet prince Bernie
Yep, he had a bad night for once where he underperformed. I don't think he can afford another under-performance even in these upcoming states where he's strong in.

Is it really true that the average Sanders supporter on the internet is 15 years old? reading this thread seems to support the claim, so much naivety
Is it really true that the average Sanders supporter on the internet is 15 years old? reading this thread seems to support the claim, so much naivety
Such as?
Is it really true that the average Sanders supporter on the internet is 15 years old? reading this thread seems to support the claim, so much naivety
the only people I see being naive are the Clinton supporters who are already calling anyone not voting for Hilary "throwing the election away".
Such as?
this post strikes out as the perfect example:
YOU'RE GOING TO FUCKING DESTROY OUR COUNTRY, in this moment that will affect our history for AGES, just because you're this salty?! You're going to give a racist, bigoted, mother fucking facist THE Planet's most biggest, well-funded, most modern Military, with Nuclear Weapons, NUCLEAR. WEAPONS. as the cherry on top, control of our economy, the man who represents ALL AMERICANS, INCLUDING YOU on the world stage in front of all the nations of this beautiful earth we live on, The man in charge of one of a country that has stood stall for over 200 years.
the only people I see being naive are the Clinton supporters who are already calling anyone not voting for Hilary "throwing the election away".
I've seen plenty of people saying that not voting for Hillary in the general is throwing the election away, but I havn't seen anyone say that for people voting for Sanders in the primary.

Well then. I just woke up and checked the results. If this is the end (and it probably is), then I'm curious what the Democratic party is going to look like 4 and 8 years from now. The millennial generation overwhelmingly backed Sanders, and most of us are aware of how hard the party worked to stifle competition during this primary and push an elite-favored candidate before all else. I'm majoring in political science, so I'm generally in contact with people who are going to be involved in the process someday... most of us are Democrats but we're all deeply resentful over what happened during this election cycle.
this post strikes out as the perfect example:
They are attempting to put a xenophobic narcissist as the head of our country because they are too lazy and pathetic to do any research. Being angry about it is a perfectly normal response. Trump will hurt hundreds of millions of people. It is like watching a train barreling towards a car on the tracks and feeling like you can do nothing to avoid the impending destruction. The elections in Finland simply don't carry the same weight. You have a population roughly in line with a state. We don't generally lose our shit over state elections. We take the presidential election very seriously because the gravity of the decision far, far, outweighs any other decision we make. To watch people vote so carelessly is actually distressing to anyone who gives a fuck about the world.
