I don't see why we can't be neutral when our allies go and do stupid shit like this. It's their burden, they should have to carry it alone.
We would be extremely hypocritical considering how when we went into Iraq we had a coalition riding along with us, and a lot of people say this was a stupid move, but our loyal allies were with us. Even Georgia had troops in Iraq.
Can anyone around Camp Lejeune confirm if the base is on lockdown?
No, but my cousin is stationed there. I live within about 50 miles of it so maybe he will contact us.
Bullshit, we've gone on the record today that the US will support Georgia's territorial integrity, it was all over the news.
 Is there a reason Bush wants to start a war with Russia?
The UN is meeting in New York about this shit right now. It's live on Sky news.
 Is there a reason Bush wants to start a war with Russia?
Georgia has a pro-western democratic government, and we're on good relations with them.
I use life.ru as primal information source here are some videos - Woman informs people about Georgians bombing hospitals with people inside it. http://life.ru/video/4943 Protest near Georgia's embassy - http://life.ru/video/4953 300 Osetians from St.Petersburg move out in conflict zone to assist Russian peacemakers - http://life.ru/video/4949 10 russian peacemakers on their own base and even more citizens in city died from Georgian bombing. http://life.ru/video/4919 DO NOT TRUST CNN or BBC INFORMATION! THEIR INFORMATION IS CAKE!
 Is there a reason Bush wants to start a war with Russia?
America: World Police
South Ossetia is only recognised as a nation by Russia. Russia are actually invading Georgia so they have a right to defend themselves. The georgians were trying to regain some control of South Ossetia (but with extreme force) Given that Russia have also bombed an airbase outside Tiblisi and the growing hostilities between Russia and Georgia then Russia are pretty much asking for this. Georgia are in the right at the moment, IMO

It's a common practice, the Chinese did it with Tibet.

Really it could go both ways depending on how you see it. Georgia WAS the aggressor, keep that in mind.
 Is there a reason Bush wants to start a war with Russia?
Maybe it's like I said before. Georgia is an extremely important region where nearly all Central Asian oil is pumped through into Europe through Turkey and Russia. If Russia wants to ignite another conflict it will annex Georgia and shut of oil to Turkey. Then we could get involved. But this is incredibly unlikely and the most likely peace would be the annexation of South Ossetia by Russia and the integration of North and South Ossetia. Edit:
DO I have to remind all of you that Russia is notorious for misinformation? It's a common practice, the Chinese did it with Tibet.
And Georgia isn't capable of it? It's lying its ass off about the conflict. They stated Russia started the whole thing when it was really an unprovoked and illegal invasion of South Ossetia.
Nothing will come of it, Russia will veto everything.
Maybe not from the UN, but NATO will take notice and as Georgia are trying to join NATO then, depending on what Russia do they may get accepted quick so NATO troops can aid the Georgians without breaking treaties with the Russian Federation.

Ossetia wanting to join Russia, and Georgia laying some smackdown on rebels and getting it reflected right back at em from Russia.
Maybe not from the UN, but NATO will take notice and as Georgia are trying to join NATO then, depending on what Russia do they may get accepted quick so NATO troops can aid the Georgians without breaking treaties with the Russian Federation.
But Georgia isn't a part of NATO so NATO can't do shit.
DO I have to remind all of you that Russia is notorious for misinformation? It's a common practice, the Chinese did it with Tibet.
I live in Russia. And if you could hear what those people screamed and cryed - you would understand that we are the one who say the truth.
RBM can you call your cuz at all?
I really don't think it is fundamentally about oil more than it't about the self-determination of S. Ossetia wanting to join Russia, and Georgia laying some smackdown on rebels and getting it reflected right back at em from Russia.
I already said that the conflict as of now isn't but the U.S. might get involved because of it. Edit:
RBM can you call your cuz at all?
No idea. He was just here at my house last week and might not even be on the base; he could be in Alabama.
But Georgia isn't a part of NATO so NATO can't do shit.
Did you actually read what I wrote? I said that they are trying to join NATO and that they could be accepted so that NATO can aid them. I guess this would only happen if Russia do something crazy though.
I already said that the conflict as of now isn't but the U.S. might get involved because of it. Edit: No idea. He was just here at my house last week and might not even be on the base; he could be in Alabama.
call em anyway, I'm ancy with anticipation
I already said that the conflict as of now isn't but the U.S. might get involved because of it.
The pres canidates all support Georgia, meaning most Americans/American news channels are biased asshats who support Georgia.
so let me get this straight. There's a possibility of going to war with Russia again?
No, G.W. isn't a moron despite what the American public thinks.
call em anyway, I'm ancy with anticipation
I asked my dad and he's at the base but I don't know what number to contact him with. My mom, who is shopping and will be home soon, should. I'll let you know. If I get a response from the base that says that I can't contact him, should I be worried about a war?
so let me get this straight. There's a possibility of going to war with Russia again?
Allegedly All depends on if Russia actually starts pushing into Georgia or stops at the seperatist capital.
No, G.W. isn't a moron despite what the American public thinks.
Wow.
I asked my dad and he's at the base but I don't know what number to contact him with. My mom, who is shopping and will be home soon, should. I'll let you know. If I get a response from the base that says that I can't contact him, should I be worried about a war?
Well if it isn't normal to not be able to get in contact with troops on-base, then that might mean stuff's going on at the base. But if you end up getting in touch, and it turns out nothing is happening, then we'll know for sure.
