Agreement, the ak- 47 is designed with dumbasses in mind
All comes to down to number of troops / distance of engagement. An AK-47 / 74 > M16 series at close range, since it's designed with a "Spray 'n Pray" mindest.
1947 guys. They'r still using it , w-t-f ?!
But hell, the United States, even with all its high tech shit, is having trouble taking care of insurgents who don't even use tanks. All they have are bombs and AK-47s.
Well, the former Soviet Union had the same problem and it failed (Afganistan etc.). Modern time Insurgents are even worse, so don't underestimate them. :eng101:
Agreement, the ak- 47 is designed with dumbasses in mind
Hmm, There might just be some truth behind your statement *Edit* After seeing it again I just realized the Handgrip broke off... well Crap now it doesn't look so stupid
Ukraine supports georgia y/n need sources
Yea but Russia is still using 4 engined propeller bombers! I wouldn't count on Georgia winning if the war were to rage on, but damn I bet it might even be close By the by, that image was near Alaska when F-22's intercepted the Russian Bomber for getting too close
You know how fast that bomber is, right? It's only slightly slower than the B-52. :v: Edit: yay for posting shit from the page before.
You know how fast that bomber is, right? It's only slightly slower than the B-52. :v:
Only at certain altitude... Even an aircraft that travels 100 miles per hour at 5,000 feet, while still doing 100 Miles per out Indicated Airspeed, will actually be doing, depending on temperature, winds, and whatnot, nearly twice that in ground speed at 30,000, even 100 IAS at 5,000 feet is more than 100 groundspeed But that sexy F-22 beside that thing can hit mach 1.2 without using its afterburners :D But again only at altitude, the frame just can't take the stress at low altitude, that and there's more air resistance anyway
The russian army does not use the 47 any more, and hasnt for about 40 years, it us uses the AK-74M which is 5.45x39mm so it is more accurate
turkey amassing troops on border because Russia targets an oil pipeline: is this true
If they do have soldiers on the border, they're probably trying to keep Georgian refugees from fleeing into Turkey. They pretty much did the same thing when Iraq was killing Kurds in Northern Iraq during the Anfal Genocide in the 80s, they were turning people away or shooting at them. They don't have the most humanitarian oriented policies. The thing is though, they always have troops in that corner of Turkey so it might really be anything. The only thing for certain is that Turkey's agreed to sell some power to Georgia.
also apparently Georgia is starting to own the Russians sort of despite Russia's bombing
Not really, especially if the president is already pleaing for a cease-fire.
Ukraine supports georgia y/n need sources
Not a rumor, it's well known. Ukraine's current government leans more towards the west and as a result would be expected to support Georgia. They're calling for a ceasefire like everyone else, and hoping the Russians will convince the Abkhazians and Ossetians to return to negotiations.
http://www.reuters.com/article/politicsNews/idUSN0850115420080809 Seems the US is telling Russia how naughty it is.

Robert Hunter of the RAND Corporation, a former U.S. ambassador to NATO, said "no one wants to fight for Georgia."
Bwahahaha! :v:
"A delegation including envoys from the US, EU and OSCE is heading to Georgia as its conflict with Russia over the breakaway South Ossetia region deepens." Number of overall casualties is still uncertain. Edit: Force Comparison: GEORGIA Total personnel: 26,900 Main battle tanks (T-72): 82 Armoured personnel carriers: 139 Combat aircraft (Su-25): Seven Heavy artillery pieces (including Grad rocket launchers): 95 RUSSIA Total personnel: 641,000 Main battle tanks (various): 6,717 Armoured personnel carriers: 6,388 Combat aircraft (various): 1,206 Heavy artillery pieces (various): 7,550
Those Russian numbers are the entire armed forces. Georgia can use its entire force while Russia is only using a small fraction. Also:
Georgian forces knocked out about 40 Russian tanks around Tskhinvali, said Georgia's Deputy Interior Minister Eka Sguladze. "Our units are well-equipped with anti-tank rockets, and they thwarted a Russian tank attack," she told reporters.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/georgia_south_ossetia;_ylt=Asxv6JH.BDLhJPsomXOjJ16s0NUE If this is true it could be like 300. Sort of.

I think this is an opportunity for Russia to flex their muscles and they know it.
Agreement, the ak- 47 is designed with dumbasses in mind
If I had to choose between an AK and M16, I'd still take the Kalashnikov in CQB / if I were a Guerilla.
If Russia can downplay it well enough then they might (rightfully) get media sympathy. But if they start blitzing a shitload of stuff over to S. Ossetia then everyone's gonna pin it on the BIG BAD IMPERIALIST RUSSIANS. Edit:
If I had to choose between an AK and M16, I'd still take the Kalashnikov in CQB / if I were a Guerilla.
M16 is more ergonomic and more flickable
If I had to choose between an AK and M16, I'd still take the Kalashnikov in CQB / if I were a Guerilla.
Not to mention M16's are lubed with peanut butter.
The russian army does not use the 47 any more, and hasnt for about 40 years, it us uses the AK-74M which is 5.45x39mm so it is more accurate
Did I say 47? I meant the AK series, not one model out of it. They still use the RPK and the SVD.
Not to mention M16's are lubed with peanut butter.
M16's reputation is only because people took pisspoor care of them in Vietnam, they're actually p. reliable despite not being gas piston driven.
"something has happened!" "What appears to be an explosion of EPIC proportions!" "Reports remain sketchy and unconfirmed.." "To set of what looks like a nuclear explosion.." "Maybe the start of something larger, and where the armor sat was among the victims, of what might have been a suicidel attempt to end the war.." Sorry, just couldn't stop thinking of Call of Duty 4's aftermath intro...
M16's reputation is only because people took pisspoor care of them in Vietnam, they're actually p. reliable despite not being gas piston driven.
I don't like the fact that they've got so many parts in them, personally. They sorted out the jamming situation with the A1. Note, however, that the M16 family shines with situations such as limited base defense, and situations where sharpshooting is more of a priority.
AK47 is the most flexible weapon.Everyone knows that.It is powerful, can be used in sand, water, snow, etc without much problems.
I don't like the fact that they've got so many parts in them, personally. They sorted out the jamming situation with the A1.
they *don't* have that many parts in them they are just built to higher tolerances
they *don't* have that many parts in them they are just built to higher tolerances
You sure as hell can't service an M16 by running a grease covered shoelace through the barrel.
Those Russian numbers are the entire armed forces. Georgia can use its entire force while Russia is only using a small fraction.
You sure as hell can't service an M16 by running a grease covered shoelace through the barrel.
you can't service an AK by doing that either you can, but then you'd be a backwater 3rd world shitsoldier. that isn't how you should "service" any gun Edit:
Hmm? I have a feeling that that isn't true, but we'll see.
Georgia's been exaggerating left and right, but I did see pictures of destroyed Russian tanks.
It would be cool if Russia sended all the 1,206 planes at once. Just to scare georgia and see if they surrender. oh and also "Our planes will block-out the sun!".
It would be cool if Russia sended all the 1,206 planes at once. Just to scare georgia and see if they surrender. oh and also "Our planes will block-out the sun!".
and leave the entire country open to attack good idea

[QUOTE=Pvt. Anyway, back on topic. The Russians say 2 planes, Georgia says 10. Who should be believed? My money's on neither one.
