What the hell does that mean? We bombed specific military targets. Not international airports. I still don't get what you mean by that though.
There were extensive civilian casualties in both.
Not intentional in Iraq though, and that's what makes the difference.
Russia would still probably surrender as they would be getting attacked from every side by forces many times larger than their own.
This isn't a game, you know.
Georgia has NATO equipment but in the fighting with Russia they failed.
Alot of them were also trained by american soldiers.

When you're 100% overwhelmed surrender is a viable option. They would be bombed to hell and back if they didn't. Though someone as crazy as Putin probably wouldn't care.
Alot of them were also trained by american soldiers.
that's right but they failed. Russia still strong.
You're forgetting that a "300" scenario can't happen in reality. Good soldiers in short supply a military does not make. You have to couple good training with good numbers. Either one alone is worthless.

Do you have any idea how big Russia is? It's basically a continent in itself. To bomb Russia to hell and back would take more bombs than any one nation could possibly cough up (excluding the use of nukes because that scenario is unrealistic).
russia isn't even using its best equipment and units in georgia, and they are still doing a pretty good job.

You're forgetting this scenario involves both the US and NATO which means major military powers like the UK, France, Germany, etc.
All would be going full scale on air raids and bombing military and political targets to hell.
I highly doubt Russia would ever be dumb enough to fight NATO but if they did they would be crushed. Casualties would be high but they would be crushed, nonetheless.

You do know 300 was based on real events?

If it was really that easy, NATO would've done it ages ago.
Guys, us as the US are backing the loser here... If we really get involved... well do the math.
Things esculate + Two pissed off country's X Nuclear material = :( bad
WE NEED NOT TO GET INVOLVED. If we stay out of their business we'll be fine. We should be REALLY good friends with russia, anyone with oil and materials..
Honestly... If there was a War between russia and america.... I might have to go with russia.
But hey, i am speaking of things that may not happen, lets hope they don't.
He's just biased
You do know 300 was based on real events?
Something like 3000 Spartans against 10000 Persians? Yea. Still bullshit though and warfare is completely different now.
shut up about nukes
goddamnit

Georgia is an ally of the USA, if we're not in it yet we're probably never going to be.

I beg to differ.
In the battle of Thermopylae, there were 300 spartan warriors, 700 Thespian volunteers, and 6000 other Greeks.
They were completely raped by a force of 80000 Persians.
:D
I blame Al-Asad,

Exactly, they were raped. In modern war they wouldn't have stood any chance against a force that large.
Even if 300 was real there's an issue that didn't exist in that time.

Yeah, they didn't stand a chance.
That was my point.
in ancient greece they weren't under the threat of bombing and strafing runs and heavy artillery stop trying to make 300 comparisons it is ignorant
Yeah, they didn't stand a chance.
That was my point.
They used the geography of the surrounding area to eliminate their flanks. They could have easily won if they had more soldiers.
Arrows?
Primary weapon of the Spartans was the sarissa and the xiphos which were both close range weapons. Far as I know Hoplites didn't carry ranged weaponry and if they did it would just be a Javelin or Pilum.
So ammo wouldn't have been an issue.
