a lot of people seem concerned that this will start WWIII but i think they also fail to realize that a war almost exactly the same as this one happened in the early nineties and nobody remembers.
However it says the russians were only involved with supplying weapons to them, including some russian forces.
There are currently 7000 russian troops in Georgia...
i like how CNN is labeling the war "russia invades georgia" when in reality georgia has been committing genocide in south ossetia (pretty much russian territory). it makes it seem like russia just randomly attacked but it is actually just a response to the shit georgia has been pulling.
They got Air support at the very last minute. But they fought off the Taliban for 4 hours before an Apache showed up
There is this.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CIMIC-House
>>NEWS<<
The Russian military advances into Georgia on two fronts Monday, heading towards cities outside the breakaway provinces that have been the centers of fighting. CNN saw thousands of troops driving out of Gori, as well as thousands of civilians traveling by convoy from the city toward the capital.
Seems the final battle of it all will be in the georgian capital. This will either end in georgian defeat or with NATO coming to aid Georgia...

They've changed it to
RUSSIANS POUND GEORGIA
Fear of occupation, annihilation

NATO has no reason to join the fight.
Hahaha Pootie Poot.
Sort of adds a childish visage to a man who is has a lot darker history.

Not if American bases in Georgia are attacked.
Depending how well the american media portrays the Russians as 'the bad guys' or some shit like that.
Are there even any US military bases in Georgia?

I think it was that we were over there, training the Georgian military.
Bush is talking at the moment.
Bush is talking at the moment.
what channel?
Bush is talking at the moment.
What is he saying?
(I don't even live in America so I can't watch)
Looks like it's going to end with a peace agreement, fairly soon.
He only talked for a minute, he said that it's hurting Russia's image, and their trade relations with the US and Europe. He wants it to end peacfully but it looks like Russia is attempting regime change.
I think it was that we were over there, training the Georgian military.
GTEP article only describes the US only sending some special forces to train several Georgin battalions, doesn't mention where. But, I doubt they'd construct a whole base for training.
Anyway, I'll keep looking
Looks like it's going to end with a peace agreement, fairly soon.
Makes sense. It's illogical to try to fire things up more.

I'm thinking that the footage of the Georgian president being forced out and covered with flak jackets was a ploy to make the situation seem more severe.

I'm happy Georgia doesn't have nukes. I fear they would have been used by now...

Is there an as-of date?
This map isn't very detailed where the location of the US military base(s) are/is in Georgia. Wikipedia's 'List of US overseas military facilities' doesn't say anything about one in Georgia.

You've got to be fucking kidding me. What the hell are they going to do with a captured American. Sounds like Russia wants us in on it too.
That report better be false.

Mercenaries are very different from soldiers. They have no connection to their respective countries when they sign up for a PMC. They can't be treated as POW's, so russia has the right to shot them if they find evidence for them to be fighting russian troops...

oh, a PMC. Nevermind then, it won't have as big of an effect.
Georgia employs a lot of mercs. I can tell you that as a fact. They're very rich but don't have the people to have a good army. There's probably just as many mercs as soldiers fighting in Georgia.
