But you can 'All but guarantee they have no idea what's going on.'
Hell yeah, I love sweeping generalizations.
Because they wouldn't be in the streets if they were aware that this entire conflict was started by Georgia. If you see that some country bombs another, then gets attacked back because of it, will you support the first attacker from a neutral standpoint?

Fun fact: Georgia didn't attack another country. Georgia attacked a separatist region, and Russia attacked it.
Might be nice if you got your facts in order before you accuse other people of ignorance.
Taking bets now.
I am putting $10 on the whole world going to war, and while they are at war, the Hadron Collider gets attacked and destroyed while being tested, causing unforseen concequences.
:D

With you on that one

A separatist region filled with Russians. and the region was vying for independence, it just isn't recognized as independent by the UN.

Doesn't change the fact that Georgia started it.
A separatist region filled with Russians. and the region was vying for independence, it just isn't recognized as independent by the UN.
Or any recognized nation.
Russia attacked first, but they didn't attack for the hell of it.
The US couldn't get involved militarily without a draft. Hopefully it won't come to that though.
There are plenty of soldiers in the army reserve. With Bush being so fucking retarded, he would actually go to war with them regardless of our current military condition.

War won't happen, but the US could easily win with the support of members of the EU, UN, and NATO.
Judging by how things are going in Iraq currently, in the near future America might be able to spare a large amount of men for a third front...
Can't be tossed to read the thirty odd pages I between where I stopped reading this afternoon and now, but this popped up on the BBC:

So it looks like everybody is falling for this stupid ruse.
It'd be in the world's interest if Russia is fought off with reasonable success, because otherwise Russia's just going to assert itself and this'll all revert back to Cold War rhetoric and dickwaving. If Russia sees how willing the West is to do nothing, they're gonna take a tougher stance to get what they want. The West needs to do something to show Russia can't do this shit and get away with it.
It might be a good idea to *prepare* to help Georgia militarily, maybe it could force Russia to back off if there was a NATO force ready to come in. I'm interested in what the Ukraine is gonna do, they've been barking pretty loudly about the Russian fleet and apparently are openly helping Georgia.
Hey, look George bush is starting shit with Russia. Figures.

Don't even fucking start that bullshit. It's either he tell them to get the fuck out or Georgia gets whipped off the planet.
We aren't going to sit by while our friend is getting attacked.
Doesn't change the fact that Georgia started it.
Georgia invaded a separtist region, Russia invaded it. It's entirely possible to make the case Russia started it. Russia was under no obligation to attack Georgia.

No. Russia went there to protect everyone in the separatist region and Georgia fucked up. Georgia declared war and won't quit so Russia is forced to attack.

Yeah, but we don't need to get into their affairs.
No. Russia went there to protect everyone in the separatist region and Georgia fucked up. Georgia declared war and won't quit so Russia is forced to attack.
Georgia didn't declare war. It's pretty much impossible to declare war on something that doesn't exist. Georgia simply moved in and took back South Ossetia. Russia wasn't forced to attack.
Georgia did not declare war.
Russia's attack was unprovoked but this is Russia. They don't take shit.
Yeah, but we don't need to get into their affairs.
If we let Russia stomp around, Russia could be more ambitious in the future knowing the West ain't gonna do jack shit in response. Could be the start of the Second Cold War.
If we let Russia stomp around, Russia could be more ambitious in the future knowing the West ain't gonna do jack shit in response. Could be the start of the Second Cold War.
Actually, Russia already knows the West ain't gonna do jack shit. Hell, they are doing it as a kind of, if you can invade a country at random, we can too message to the west.(U.S. invaded Iraq without U.N. resolution, so Russia says it's just as fair)
If we let Russia stomp around, Russia could be more ambitious in the future knowing the West ain't gonna do jack shit in response. Could be the start of the Second Cold War.
So could interfering.
So could interfering.
well, if we don't, it could be cold war, if we do.. it could be less than cold.
well, if we don't, it could be cold war, if we do.. it could be less than cold.
Aye, I'm afraid if another big world power starts getting involved (militarily!), war could be declared on the "meddlers" as well... and then dung hits the propellers.
Looks like shit might go down in the Caucasus real soon, hopefully the U.S. won't get involved militarily. Or Russia for that matter, if Russia moves on Georgia I can see NATO throwing a fit over it, because it will call on NATO to do something about it considering Georgia wants to join NATO.
Sorry about your luck but as long as George Bush is president there is WAR! (bolded for seriousness)
PS:
I'm not even joking I'm dead serious.

We have no choice.
But of course, you aren't going to believe this, and are just going to jump on the "GEORGE BUSH WANTS WAR" bullshit bandwagon.

I really don't like the prospect of war with Russia. it's an eerie thought that I only ever imagined in the past, not something I want to imagine happening soon.

It sounds like something of fiction, that would be in a semi-futuristic war novel.
