Why was the military storing stuff on megaupload?
I believe it was members of the military. Not like top secret information sort of shit.

That's not all that much, that's how much space I've used on my computer so far.
I guess I count as one of the US Military people paying for premium.

I'd imagine a lot of it could be documents and whatnot.
I can see how the ladies and gentlemen in the US army want to use megaupload services to mail audio and video files to their loved ones. I imagine that's what they use it for mostly.
Ha that's funny. :v:
When people would go on mission they'd leave their laptops running and start downloading as much shit as possible from megaupload or torrent sites and hoped it'd be done by the time they returned.
I can see how it was very popular for the military being that they can upload videos that couldn't be e-mailed. Being connected to multiple back bones gives good connection, so they all flocked there.
But for those who were pirating - why would you use your government e-mail...?

Nobody would suspect a government e-mail to be pirating perhaps?
I think some people are missing the point:
The point isn't that the US government is being hypocritical or anything, it's that a lot of people are clearly using the service legitimately, and Dotcom is trying to put the RIAA and MPAA in a tricky situation whereby if they condemn everyone who had an account as a pirate, they're effectively also insulting "OUR FREEDOM FIGHTING ARMY GAWD BLESSUM"
Pretty much this.
Unfortunately, not matter what you do, you won't get that data back before the trial is over. Its fucking EVIDENCE.

Computer illiterate people make all sort of stupid things.
I think a lot of people have a misconception of what a government exactly is.
Hopefully not the military itself, just individuals in the military. Although that'd be hilarious if some of them stored classified documents on there like an idiot.
.. which they probably did.
Probably encrypted to shit if they did.

If you're using it for official shit, like sending a video documentary or something to some colleagues that's way to big to be emailed.
