Maybe that depends on the textbook course, because there is like a dozen different textbooks by different authors for every subject. In my history and sociology textbooks, they went as far as bashing Stalin's reign, which came really unexpected.
The youth here have this very distorted image of an immigrant. They call them "чурки" or "хачи", diminishing different peoples of Caucasus and Siberia to a single group that they see as uneducated, dumb beasts. Same with gays ("педики" and "пидоры") and even ukrainians ("салоеды"). It doesn't come from the government or education, it comes from other people, social networks, teenage angst and actions of vocal minorities of those groups. Some people stick with those ideas because it's easy to just go along with hate instead of reinventing your world views.[/QUOTE]
Well, people from Dagestan are widely known to cause a lot of trouble in here. And then slipping out from all sorts of troubles like they're innocent, despite numerous proofs.
But still, a lot of russians are still hostile to other nations. Those talks about Rotten West are just irritating.
On topic: it's just a shame. Navalny is officialy made a criminal, Durov was fired... wht's next? Great Firewall of Russia?

Maybe I was wrong then, I apologize. I was basing my words off experience I've had talking to other Russians before, who acted as if Russia was flawless and the West was the source of all thing evil. They often used words like "empire" and "evil" to describe us, and said we left them fight alone in WW2 until 1944 and started the Cold War by being hostile to the Soviets. It was so prevalent I assumed it was taught that way.

салоеды? i havent seen that word in a long time чурки refers to чукчи? rural areas in the united states share quite a bit of similarity to what you described that i would say it is simply human nature.

More like a social construction.

Чурки is the same thing as хачи, it generally refers to people from Caucasus but sometimes also applies to people from Siberia, because apparently anyone different isn't Russian enough. I may be mistaken, because slang may be different in other parts of the country.
Hmm, over here чурки is used to refer to people of other races in general

Nah you could play APB on one of the Europe servers. Rus fuckers have their own APB client but still use the Western client :v:

Because Russian APB is plagued with annoying and game-breaking microtransactions, thanks to Innova. They are always spoiling games with this shit.
Чурки, хачи/хачики are racial slurs against Caucasian peoples. хачик (hachik) derives from the middle-eastern name, Hachik.
салоеды, хохлы are national slurs against Ukrainian people. хохлы (hohly) is by far the most common one.
сало (salo) is a common food of the region. It is salted pig fat. Therefore салоеды (saloyedy) literally translates to eaters of pig fat. I still don't understand why Russians always make this generalization about Ukrainians. It may hold true, [b]but Russians eat it just as much[/b] :v:
[editline]24th April 2014[/editline]
Fuck that, even I ate it. It's fucking good.
You forgot about москали (moskali, roughly translates as "Citizens of Moscow").
it is commonly used by Ukrainian against Russian people.
And that generalisation against salo is just a stereotype. Like vodka for all Russians, tea for Britons and potatoes for Belarussians.
[editline]24th April 2014[/editline]
And yes, salo is yummy. If you put it on slice of rye bread... it's like you taste the heaven itself.
I'm surprised that nobody reported on that bloggers law thing yet.
Because there is no news about it in foreign media.
well i mean you guys can always post it and give a link of it on google translate or something

true but if they want to keep us in the loop, they can either translate it themselves or do an auto translation program. personally i prefer if they'd do it themselves.

CEOs are appointed by shareholders.
