North Korea Jamming South Korea's Airline Communications Signals
Why does everyone just imagine that we would steam roll them? We probably would, but is that worth a mega city becoming a harbor?
I don't know if it's for better or for worse, but people have forgotten that radical change demands sacrifices. It's kind of a problem between the worlds when the first world population abhors any kind of mistreatment of humans while there are still many regimes and people in general who wouldn't think twice about shooting someone dead when needed because they're simply desensitized towards it or there's nothing to force them to reconsider.
Not many agree on this, but the western populations have become somewhat of a bunch of pussies (make no mistake, I'm wholly against war). To us the deaths of a handful of people is a tragedy worth a news headline. To North Korea it's a sacrifice you're expected to make for your country if need be. As soon as people start dying, the west curls up and starts looking for diplomatic talks and truce. A war with the volume of casualties as in WW2 or even worse is something that western people are not able to stomach any more.
My two cents.
Y'know what would be best?
If South Korea opened up their side of the border. All the people in the north would flee. Yes, there would be killing of civilians on the North Korean side, but then there would be cause for intervention. North Korea would wither away, and the Korean Republic could be formed again.
Size really doesn't matter, considering their circumstances. No fuel for conducting military exercises, seclusion leading to obsolete technology and under-experienced/under-trained personnel, barely able to keep the destitute country running (on care packages from their great imperialistic enemies, might I add). As they are, the most they can do is make a single push for Seoul and bomb as much as they possibly can before inevitably being crushed.
Technology has come far in the last decades, and that really makes a difference. Look at Iraq under the Hussein dictatorship. 4th largest standing army in the world. Wiped out in 2 weeks. For all it was worth getting them, those tanks were just coffins on tracks.
It really is suicide, but it looks like they don't mind.
Not quite, they have enough artillery to level a good portion of Seoul and put the hurt in SK Troops. That's their trump card though, they don't really have anything else unless they somehow manage to build a nuke. Beyond that is an large army of poorly trained soldiers using sub-standard equipment, their Korean and NATO counterparts are leagues ahead.
In other words, it would be a bloodbath for both sides.
why.
This couldn't be any "demonstration of power" even by a stretch, what could North reasonably gain?
They're trying to start a war without being the instigators. Harassing South Korea until the tension reaches a breaking point.
I hope South Korea settle this by playing some more K Pop into the DMZ.
Won't be long before we get a Korean War: Part 2. North Koreans need to be freed, they live in hell over there and enjoy it, because it's all they know. I'd prefer a nonviolent solution to the issue, but if they want war, then war they shall receive.
I think at some point in the future, China eventually gets enought of the shit North Korea keeps pulling and moves in and wipes out the governemnt before South Korea and it's buddies does it.
"Accidentally" crash an automated flight with no humans into that ugly piece of shit hotel they finally finished then blame it on their jamming.
Korea has just fallen to the level of trolling it's neighbour?
You can't fall when you're already at rock bottom.
North Korea jammin'

That seems like it would just inspire more mortaring, if not all out war. Let's leave that kind of idea for the North Korean's to try pulling off.
