ITS HAPPENING! Scotland begins to vote on Independence.

oh also no voters are trying to beat yes voters back to george square to celebrate the result today. it's like they're trying to instigate riots
Highlands has voted no too.
Ouch. I kinda expected that to go Yes to be honest.
Canadians are the friendliest people to everyone except the Quebecois.
But it's mostly the quebecois inferiority complex we're laughing at. I mean really... a language police? Also, they're very unfriendly when compared to the rest of Canada.
Scotland =/= quebec.
You ever been to Quebec to assume that ? You personally experimented different scenarios where you've been publicaly bullied because of your language ? There is no need for generalizations like that, especialy when it's extremely unfounded. From what I've seen, people here are extremely polite and friendly toward each other, no matter your origin. Sure, get in the countryside and you might face more conservative persons, but then again, isn't it just the same with other places like, say, Alberta ?
Anyway, I don't like this stereotype of being the "anti Canadian". Shit might have hapened history wise, but nowaday, travel here and experiment one of the nicest place when it comes to people.
I heard a rumour that Westminster Is now saying that they're not going to give Scotland any new powers until after the next General Election? I thought they promised to give new powers immediately?
Keeping saying that Québécois aren't friendly when it's a generalization and that's a lot of english Canadians doing that, is hostility.
It's pure passive aggressiveness and I think that proves how wrong you are too.
It's funny how people that fought so hard for Québec to say then later says, we don't want you guys.
Should have let us go son, now you're stuck with us so start being nice for fucks sake.
To prove my point, in every thread about Québec there will be a comment like: "Québec or Québecois are the worst or are shitty" even if the thread is obviously nothing about that.

If its the rumour based on the screencap of a news report (why is it always screen caps and never videos..) its about English devolution.
They are not going to turn their back on their promises, if they did by the time of the next general election we will have UKIP and the SNP in power across the entire of the UK some how.
holy shit, forget about what i said about don't come up to glasgow if you're english. unionists are fucking everywhere, been told to take a different route to work in order to stay safe

No, we DO want you guys, like, as a whole, you guys are cool, great universities, good culture. We like you guys. We just wish you would be a little friendlier (and in the case as above, not glossing over certain parts of history).
I like Quebec, it has great universities, great culture, and brings diversity into canada. But for fucks sake you guys can be downright rude sometimes. It's not just me thinking this way, 47% of Canadians polled in 2014 said Quebec was the least friendly province, in addition, there are numerous polls that show that Quebec is also the most intolerant country, with one saying "59 per cent of Quebecers thought their society had become too tolerant in matters of reasonable accommodation".
Just because we want you guys to stay, does not mean we should have to put up with you guys sometimes being a bunch of fuckwits.

I have been to Quebec, and I'd prefer not to use ad hominem. Quebec people might be extremely polite to each other, but when it comes to anglophones/muslims... they are anything but tolerant.
How many of those voters on these polls actually went to Quebec at least once though, that's a better question. I think they don't really mean much, considering a lot of those who voted may have just picked Quebec because they base their answers on stereotypes or just general hate. And when it comes to what people think about tolerence and accomodation, you can't pin this only on Quebec, a lot of places in the world share this problem.
Anyway, pretty sure if you travelled here once more, you'd see that you can roam around freely without worrying of being picked on because of your language. I know it doesn't value for much since it's based on personal experience, but when my girlfriend arrived here from Australia, she spoke nothing but English. Never one has she been repressed by French speaking persons.
All in all, it's never a good thing to assume the loud and shitty minority is representative of the whole.
All of this is really off topic though, sorry 'bout that.

These stupid cunts have completely spoiled the end of a fascinating period in the life of Scottish people. They have stolen headlines off the vote result and turned it into something 99% of Scotland will agree is ignorant, childish and disgusting. As much as I'm devastated that No won, I feel sorry for those that voted no that wanted to genuinely celebrate tonight.
Call me bias, but I believe if Yes had won, there would be 10x the amount of people and 100000x the amount of brain cells to have a peaceful celebration (can't rule out the minority burning a flag or two).
Yes, a celebration, not a fucking excuse to cause trouble. Pathetic, shameful delinquents.

You missed the choicest pictures, like the fact they've set fire to the offices of the Herald (the only pro-Indy newspaper), or the guys nazi saluting in front of No Thanks signs whilst waving Union Jacks, or the vine of some poor lass with a saltire getting pushed down and having it torn from her.

Oh wow, why, why, why?
I know there are stupid cunts in either side but fucking hell...
Reading up on... pretty much the aftermath of Glasgow City Centre, makes me glad of a few things, one being that I don't live in Glasgow. Another being that I didn't stay out drinking all night yesterday, as shit was kicking off between Indy and Union sides around half one in the morning and not taking my own Scotland flag with me during said night.
I already had a stand off with some junkie bastard earlier this week, the concept of getting into another stand off/potential fight with someone just because of a matter of opinion just doesn't strike me as tempting. Particularly when your out numbered by a gang of yobbo bastards who see this as a opportunity to kick up shit, regardless of what you voted for.
Way to turn something so good so far, so sour all the sudden.

There was always going to be a period of negotiation so I don't see why they would just suddenly lump Scotland with new powers straight off the bat? Also I doubt it'll be done straight after the national election since English devolution also needs to be discussed and they want it done at the same time.

The issue at hand is that is outwith the timeline posted with their big "Vow" on Devolution.
Of course, we all knew it might as well have been written on toilet paper for all it really meant.
attention: if you think that the criminal activity is down to the fact that the no side won, and the no side are soley responsible for this activity, you are actually delusional
That feel when no scotland

For their own sakes, I hope these boys never, ever step foot in Leith because their presence will not be tolerated by hardline, pro-indy Hibs lads.

If they'll set fire to an Aberdeen fan for no reason then they'll do anything.
Meanwhile at BBC:
"Oh dear, we've been receiving heavy accusations of bias and scare mongering throughout this whole thing. Eh fuck it, Children In Need is coming soon, that way we can showcase our love and care and support, that way our audience will return back to their subservient ways."

News sites covering it so far are reporting that it's only unionists causing trouble.
Prior to the referendum on Thursday, many U.K. news outlets expressed concern about the possibility of rioting or violence from those who voted for independence. One source from the anti-independence Better Together campaign even predicted “absolute carnage” on referendum day.
However, it looks like the main source of trouble in Glasgow is coming the opposing side: British nationalists celebrating Scotland’s decision to stay in the Union.
you didn't even read all of your terrible daily mail source
you people are being as bad as the bbc were
then again I'm not surprised, you've been in favour of independence in every referendum thread hypno-toad so I find it unsurprising that you're lamping all the blame for the violence on the no side
there's been scuffles between both sides, so stop trying to paint one side of the referendum as thugs to suit your own ideas, which is what I bet we'll see a bunch of the more vocal independence supporters on facepunch doing.
Having said that

this image is amazing
Initially there was peaceful yes and no people in George Square. Then the extremist unionists came and everything went up shit creek. They caused it; they were looking for a fight.
How many days until SRA are formed from butthurt scots

Peaceful or not, why were they there in the first place?
Peaceful or not, why were they there in the first place?
Celebrating the impressive attempt at independence (yes) or celebrating staying in the union (no) or because they wanted a fight (extremist unionists)
Are you really saying people aren't allowed to celebrate in public?

I didn't say that, I asked why they were there. In the run up to the referendum, I heard people from both sides saying that they expected riots after either result. Are you telling me they didn't expect something to happen after such a close result?
[editline]20th September 2014[/editline]
I'm all for people celebrating the result as well as the large support for yes, but surely nobody is that ignorant to think that something wouldn't happen in the middle of Glasgow.

There was some nutty Yes-Voter who wanted to join ISIS because of the no vote.
Then we get stuff like this

Is he calling for an armed uprising against the government?
This shit will settle in a few weeks, I doubt it'd be like The Troubles considering there wasn't a long history of abuse by the English (in modern times)
