scotland isn't america
That doesnt make it impossible for guns to end up in the hands of terrorists
That doesnt make it impossible for guns to end up in the hands of terrorists
It's massively unlikely there would even be a riot or a protest, let alone armed terrorism.
It's massively unlikely there would even be a riot or a protest, let alone armed terrorism.
Wasn't armed terrorism really popular with their neighbours though?
Wasn't armed terrorism really popular with their neighbours though?
I highly doubt scottish residents are likely to start IRA 2.0 : Electric Boogaloo. Especially being the most liberal of the uk's four counterparts as well as being very uninterested in religion of any type.
Wasn't armed terrorism really popular with their neighbours though?
For historical and economic reasons it's unlikely a violent nationalism movement would be able to gain any traction in Scotland. While the act of union was an exceedingly corrupt affair, riddled with bribery, at the end of the day Scotland's representatives at the time did sign away it's independence; that's likely shaped how Scottish nationalism has behaved over the years. Likewise up until the 1960s there was a lot more british industry in scotland so people were relatively content Ireland on the other hand was just crushed and waylaid in a series of brutal crown wars that really laid the groundwork of resentment and hostility required in order to make a popular armed uprising a reality, factors like the potato famine really didn't help either. Northern Ireland was a bit of an exception as it was the remnant of one of the largest colonial plantations, and Protestantism was tied to the foundations of the british empire so they quickly opted to remain part of the new UK.
It bugs me when the flag of ST. Patrick is still cut on the flags without Scotland. [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/EF2CAnV.png[/IMG_thumb]
All that needs is the yellow of the welsh flag somewhere near the rest and it'd be a good one.
If yes wins, who will become the Prime minister or president or what ever. And what about the monarchy, like the Kingdom of Scotland, will that become a thing?
So assuming the flag is changed will that mean that countries like Australia that have the Union Jack in also change their flags?
If that was the case we would of had to change our Flag years ago since we became independent.
Voted yes. Not because I believe it will make us shit tons of money or that it will solve our issues. Couldn't give a fuck about Salmond either. I'd prefer to have our government be run by Scottish people, for Scottish people, rather than Westminster.
If that was the case we would of had to change our Flag years ago since we became independent.
Which you totally could have. Get on our level Australia.
If yes wins, who will become the Prime minister or president or what ever. And what about the monarchy, like the Kingdom of Scotland, will that become a thing?
There will be elections to decide the former. The likely thing regarding the Monarchy (at least at first) is that we will do as Australia and Canada and still acknowledge the English monarchs as head of state.
Which you totally could have. Get on our level Australia.
At least we are living on hard mode with pretty much everything wanting to kill you.
So the results must be coming right about now, no?
If that was the case we would of had to change our Flag years ago since we became independent.
You should have changed it anyways Here, I designed an original one for you [t]http://i.cubeupload.com/qxcftL.jpg[/t]
If yes wins, who will become the Prime minister or president or what ever. And what about the monarchy, like the Kingdom of Scotland, will that become a thing?
whoever we elect in 2016 and our queen will remain old lizzie, we'll be in eh commonwealth like
I can't imagine how fucked Spain is if this brings out more people wanting independence in Catalonia and it spreads throughout other separatist movements.
So the results must be coming right about now, no?
the polls haven't closed yet. the result is expected around 0630am GMT
Yes and the Queen can dissolve Parliament, doesn't mean there is any chance of it happening.
That's what they said when we voted on EU referendum in 2005 too, and look how that turned out.
So the results must be coming right about now, no?
Polls will close in 2 hours. It will be around 9 hours after that we get all the results.
I can't imagine how fucked Spain is if this brings out more people wanting independence in Catalonia and it spreads throughout other separatist movements.
Spain should beat them all to it and claim independence from itself
Polls will close in 2 hours. It will be around 9 hours after that we get all the results.
9 hours? are polls manual in the UK or what?
9 hours? are polls manual in the UK or what?
Yep. Bits of paper.
isn't this exciting
So the results must be coming right about now, no?
Polls close at 10pm and it's 8pm now, so no
Thankfully I don't have class until late in the morning, so I can stay up and see the official declaration.
isn't this exciting
Nope, I'm genuinely concerned about the knock-on effect for the rest of us left behind if Scotland votes yes. I'm genuinely dreading waking up tomorrow morning.
yes wins, then the UK better add a dragon to the flag. [t]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/59/Flag_of_Wales_2.svg/1280px-Flag_of_Wales_2.svg.png[/t]
Voted yes. Here's hoping.
So would today become our 4th July?
