His stupidity brings click bait, I wouldn't be surprised if he is making upwards of 5-10k a month on youtube clicks.
Can anyone sum up his twitch livestream that just happened?

You are talking about a guy who described getting someone pregnant as "You just cum in a vag until it happens". I don't think moderators would be too essential. You just ban people until it works?
Phil has responded. Nice formatting. http://thekingofhate.com/forums/index.php?/topic/407-an-important-message-from-the-staff/page-2
The fact that he was even able to get popular, earn both "fans" and actual fans who will defend him for whatever reason, and make tons of money doing nothing to begin with eats at me a little bit. I do not understand this streaming culture that has arisen, period, because it's literally one of the most boring, inane things I can think of along with Let's Plays, but he is one of the more bizarre outliers I can think of and he still made way more money than he had any reasonable right to. He was not skilled by any means, or genuinely funny, or even fun to laugh at. Just a big fucking whiner and for some reason people supported that instead of ignoring it and moving on.
UPDATE: So this post is LONG; if you don't wand to read it all you can skip to the Summary and Proposed Changes section at the bottom; or you can read the entire thing to get my full perspective and response. Thanks.
First and foremost, this thread is being closed to public posts because this should be a discussion between myself and the moderation staff. It shouldn't have been posted publicly because, as it now undoubtedly will be, this situation will be used to stir even more negativity my way by certain parties. So I'll make a response post, then further discussion should be taken to the staff section of the forums.
I'm well aware of the disparity that's been growing between myself and the forums over the past year, in particular since I purchased the website. In part it's because I've become an incredibly busy individual who sees more and more free time going away due to adult life - free time that used to be used to participate in forum discussions, for example. I try to set things up for fan interaction from time to time (chatting with fans while I watch pro wrestling, for example) but the older I get, the less time I'm having to do that kind of stuff. So admittedly I've become incredibly distant, for the most part, with forum participation. I'm rarely aware of the daily goings-on here and find it hard to find time to participate in discussions. This is a MAJOR reason why forum participation dropped sharply; I'm solely to blame, and I take that responsibility.
Well, what this resulted in was the majority of my fanbase moving on from the forums to elsewhere - stream chat, twitter, etc. And this resulted in a huge drop in positive, fun threads and even common ones such as "discuss the game Phil is currently playing." Inevitably what this resulted in, was most of the forum regarding myself/my content become criticism. Which inherently isn't a bad thing at all, as constructive criticism leads to improvement if it's well received. And now we get to the subject matter at hand.
I am not the best receiver of criticism. Mostly it's in the delivery; if you can tell me something I'm doing wrong/inefficiently and explain how, in a mature and competent manner, and then tell me how I can improve? Then more than likely I'm going to listen. But if it's not expressed that way, I have a tendency to shut down.
IN ADDITION (and this is a BIG one), if the vast majority of what's contributed ends up being "Phil is doing everything wrong" without any balance of positivity, that also makes me shut down. And I'm not blaming anyone here; as I've stated, my lack of participation in the forums has led to them declining and the positive stuff going away. But when I come here daily to see that most of the new posts are saying I'm doing stuff wrong, with NO positive reinforcement? I'm only human and that makes me feel awful, and not want to participate even more.
Not that I haven't tried - in recent months I've listened and tried to make improvements based solely off of forum discussions. Going 1080p/60fps in my content, getting a wind screen/mic stand and very shortly getting soundproofing are all positive improvements resulting from intelligent forum discussion. It took beating it into me, but I finally renewed the website domain etc. based off of moderator insistence; that's the kind of stuff that will slip right through the cracks without help. And so to those of you who have contributed positively and constructively regardless if I actually responded, I say THANK YOU. You're a major part of the reason this works.
I also want to say THANK YOU to the forum staff in particular, as most of you have been around for quite some time (4+ years in some cases) and we've been through a lot. Since I'm very rarely on the forums, I almost never interact with you anymore and therefore there's a severe lack of thanks there, which you've made very clear to me here. Sorry for that and I hope that you know that if you ever need my help with something (promotion of/help with a project, etc.) that you feel I could actually positively contribute to, please let me know. I might not be here a lot but that doesn't mean we're totally disconnected.
Now to the subject at hand: my handling of recent topics badly and the resulting backlash I'm now getting from forum staff.
It's hard to intelligently respond when there have been bunches of topics over the past several months, but I'll try to be general and summarize: there have been forum threads solely created to criticize me/call me out on specific things I've done/said since i've moved to Washington. Some are very specific cases such as my take on the Ice Bucket Challenge, while others were far more general. For the most part, those threads went unnoticed as, as I stated above, I'm not around here often. In a lot of cases, I'd come in periodically to check in, hoping to see some positivity and fun; instead all I see are 5 new threads about how I've once again done stuff wrong. In most cases, it's NOT a black and white case - it's that I'm opinionated on something, and it may not be the "common opinion" that I hold, and people have issue with that. But from what I've seen, my major problem with these "criticism" threads is that they're not very two-sided; it seems a lot of the more active forum users have LOTS of issues seeing things from two different perspectives. This is something I've just recently (in the past 1-2 years) learned to do better, and it's an eye-opening experience. The thing is, I'm OKAY with that; having differing opinions is fine. But it's when the entirety of this site becomes "Phil is wrong, because he doesn't hold common opinions" then that's a major problem. Because that's not open discussion; that's a witch hunt.
And that's kind of he vibe I've gotten when I come here. It doesn't help that there are general threads such as "DSP Criticism" that aren't focused on anything in particular, and honestly can't be constructive because they don't address any particular issues. It's one thing to bring up a specific topic that something constructive can come from; it's entirely another to just have a general dumping ground. I'll read about a specific thing and listen, but I won't go into a thread that's purposefully created to dump on me; I hope you can understand that perspective.
Now in general, in recent months I haven't been happy with the way the site has been moderated. I'll be clear on that as it's a major reason we're having this discussion. It's because as I read threads that are highly critical, I start to see things that shouldn't be let slide (blatant insults, trolling, piling on without any justification or reasoning) publicly showing between legit posts. This has been a major contributing factor to me not wanting to even read this stuff anymore, and I began to lock/delete threads where i was finding this stuff. In all honesty? I wanted to ban a few people whose entire existence on this site is to go from thread to thread talking shit/shitting on me, but I don't even know how to properly ban someone. So it resulted in me checking less and less, unless someone specifically told me "there's a new thread saying you screwed up Phil! Better go check it out!" I think from my perspective you can see why I wouldn't want to be here much anymore.
In other cases, there were threads where people were waiting to hear my take on something, I gave it, and then immediately people dumped on me afterwards, completely unwilling to see it from my perspective. Again, it's OK to disagree with someone as long as you can understand where they're coming from, and it just seemed nobody was willing to do that; instead it was just TONS of negativity and general nastiness. If that was the case, I'd close the thread because nothing constructive could come if it, in my estimation. I may have been wrong in some cases, but again, I'm not here daily reading this stuff to find out. A MAJOR example of this was the Ice Bucket challenge thread, where in my opinion people were being completely unreasonable because I refused to support a bandwagon movement, JUST BECAUSE it was for charity, regardless of the facts that I disagree with in that movement. But i've since better elaborated on that, and I think people better understand me now, so there's no reason to go into massive detail again.
However, the one thing to make clear here is that you cannot, EVER, put me in a position to be up against my significant other. In yesterday's case, there was a stream chat that was out of control, moderation was a nightmare to perform, and my girlfriend jumped in (in a RARE case as she's almost never in stream chat anymore) to help. Not being around frequently, she may have said/done some things that offended people based off of her spur-of-the-moment observations. Some people may have issue with it, and have a right to; but that chat was absolutely out of control with spam and insults. I actually suggested going sub-only mode, which did happen for a bit, but even that didn't work. I think we all just have to accept that there will be hundreds of "stream monsters" who attend fighting game streams and that it's pretty much impossible to control overall going forward.
But regardless of all of that, the issue was that things were said/done that people found offensive. I get that, but at the same time, you have to understand that in an argument between anybody on planet Earth vs. my significant other (and I'd like to think the majority of people would agree with me on this who are in committed, meaningful relationships), my significant other wins. I don't feel that anything that was done was done out of truly negative/hurtful intentions. People have brought up the fact that mixing business and personal life is a touchy and dangerous subject; yes, I agree there. But Leanna lives with me and is now a major part of my life on a daily basis. She's going to be here no matter what, even though she's RARELY involved with any of my gameplay video/stream content, EVER. So if you can't handle her being around in a rare occurrence like yesterday, to you I say, I'm sorry that you were offended and I wish you luck. I closed the thread discussing this topic because there's nothing to discuss; stream chat drama should be kept to stream chat and overall, in my honest opinion it's not THAT important that people have to completely lose their cool over one chat where some things went awry.
One quick point I'm going to bring up bc it's created some negativity of late: people in stream chat who BLATANTLY break rules/repeatedly troll, get banned, make new accounts, get banned again, so then they take their grievances to the forums with false info. Twice this week I've seen people post up here, saying they were unjustly banned when in reality, it was their third or FOURTH stream chat account that got banned as someone (sometimes even me) recognized them and banned them. So they tell someone here, who may not know that this new account is the same person, and they get the ban released. We're going to have to institute some kind of a check system moving forward, as this is creating lots of problems for both the stream chat AND the forums now; I've found these people now posting in other threads and promoting more negativity overall.
Okay, so that was a LOT that I just said. I will summarize and then propose some changes; I hope that some mods will respond in the Staff section with their concerns and we can work this out calmly and maturely:
-I've gotten incredibly busy since the move to Washington and have next to no time to actively participate in the site
-This led to positivity leaving the site and it mainly becoming a place to criticize me
-I noticed this trend and it gave the site an association as a "dumping ground" for me due to the lack of positive reinforcement
-Some lax modding led to me getting agitated at some things that were said on the forums, further agitating things
-I made knee-jerk reactions to some threads and closed/deleted them, while others I feel were closed completely legitimately when nothing further constructive was being contributed/nobody was seeing from my perspective and the discussion was going nowhere; Forum staff strongly disagree with me doing this.
-Yesterday's stream chat situation was a rarity that almost never happens. It was a "perfect storm" but some people were offended. If you were, I apologize but things are not going to change regarding myself and Leanna. If you have issue with that, I understand your desire to move on; I hope that at least some of you can understand that.
-There are some stream chat ban evaders purposely trying to stir up drama here on the forums, so we have to be more diligent and create some kind of check system to make sure that someone we're unbanning isn't a new account of someone who was legitimately banned.
Proposed changes:
-I won't close threads (except for BLATANTLY obvious trolling ones) without at least one mod approving. If I give my input on something and feel that a thread has run its course, I'll say so but will NOT close the thread, just request that it be closed. Since I'm not here daily, it will be up to the forum mods to decide whether or not the thread should be closed moving forward. This creates a check/balance system so that I don't have absolute power over everything.
-I won't ban anyone but will request people be warned/banned appropriately if I find something offensive. Honestly this isn't a change, as I have no idea how to ban someone anyway, but it's another positive check/balance system.
-I will try to be more open-minded when it comes to the opinions posted on the website, and I will abide by the forum rules. If I don't think I can respond constructively, I won't respond at all. This means I will not violate forum rules moving forward (things as simple as calling people names which I've violated as of late due to overall frustration/anger)
-If criticism threads are created (which they undoubtedly will be), they should be specific and to a particular topic. General threads become a bandwagoning and I won't read them; specific topics (such as reducing atmospheric sound in my videos, for example) are very welcome. I think this will help overall, rather than just putting everything jumbled into one thread and my never reading it.
-Mods and I should have more interaction overall and general discussion of the site at least once every 1-2 months. We almost never communicate unless there's a problem and that's not right, and it's my fault. Either a thread in the Staff section or even a Skype call would suffice (although Skype may be impossible since we're all over the globe in a lot of cases). These opportunities should be used to bring things up so that things don't build up and explode like this particular situation we're in right now.
-I'd LIKE to bring more positivity to the site, but that's something I have to ask of everyone. Creating and participating in discussion threads for current playthroughs, contributing to the funniest moments of the year thread, talking about upcoming vlogs and events etc. are all part of a healthy, functioning community. A site with only negative/critical threads creates an overall air of negativity and drives people away. If you participate in something critical, please also participate in something with positive reinforcement as well. I can't MAKE anyone do this, but I think overall it'd help out things around here (and would surely make me want to participate a lot more)
-If any member of forum or stream chat staff have a question or concern, feel free to contact me personally at darksydephil@hotmail.com ; I talk with a few people frequently and I'd have no problem talking things out from time to time if need be. Simply talking out things usually can resolve most problems, I've found at least in my life.
So that's it folks. Hope to hear back from most of the staff involved soon, thanks for your time.

That's the whole point of people like this, they take advantage of a young fanbase that most of the time ends up growing out of it once they realize that this type of shit isn't funny, and yet have a sustainable fanbase of children that don't realize that a grown man going apeshit over a microphone all the time isn't actually entertaining. People make a living off of this kind of shit are the lowest of the low in terms of "entertainment" as there is no form of expertise involved in it and just insults everyone that actually puts effort into producing quality content.

At the same time though, you're making a really subjective and trying to turn it into something objective. People can and do, enjoy this kind of content and its assumptious that everyone who makes similar kind of content does not put any time, effort or money into it.
