I honestly don't care one way or the other about his investment or choice of mining bitcoins, and I feel most people in this thread are simply bashing the guy with no actual knowledge or information by simply repeating a few select phrases like "unstable", "virtual" and "scam" over and over again. That being said, I would never trust a company online (that I have not visited the HQ or at least a depot of) with 30,000$. Plus I am almost certain you can build a much much much more efficient and powerful machine with the same amount of money if you are willing to do some more research and actually put time to build it. You can buy FPGAs and most of the necessary components for almost wholesale prices with that money which would make it much more cost effective. Just my two cents.
Again, why would people sell you a machine that basically prits money by you hooking it up to electricity when they very well could be doing it themselves?
Again, why would people sell you a machine that basically prits money by you hooking it up to electricity when they very well could be doing it themselves?
A one time payment in real currency is a lot more reliable than bitcoin mining. Sure the machine might earn you the 30000$ and some more, but that "might" is very important. Also the components probably cost a lot less than 30000$.
Exactly. Scheme.
Exactly. Scheme.
or in non-alarmist terms, business model
or in non-alarmist terms, business model
I'd call it a rip off, i can't think of any current consumer computer components that will add up to $30k in one pc.
I'd call it a rip off
When you buy a prebuild pc you always get ripped off.
i can't think of any current consumer computer components that will add up to $30k in one pc.
That's because it's probably not build out of consumer parts. If with consumer you mean your average intel/amd cpus, and amd graphics cards.

If with consumer you mean your average intel/amd cpus, and amd graphics cards.
I meant any part you can buy, even on newegg using server parts & even choosing the most expensive parts I only ever managed to break $16k a couple of times. I'm sure it's natural to be skeptic of a $30K machine when on the official site they don't even list the parts.
These are custom designed FPGAs/ASICs, you won't find any of those in servers or consumer PCs
Still, i wouldn't drop 30k into something that "might" make it's worth back. But enough of that, it's getting long and just leading into a possible shitstorm. It'd be nice to see this succeed, i can't see myself using it though.
'Operating normally' for a Bitcoin website means being hacked less than 3 times a week right? Oh, and obligatory:
to do something like that he probably already had brain damage

But guys it will pay off!
now I bet he'll act all "Lol happy it's ok guys" as if everyone here are actually his friends and all humorous and funny. Stay classy FP
See your mistake here, is thinking I actually care. Unlike you, this forum isn't my home I don't browse here 24/7 I actually have whats called a life and I do more important shit than "get in a super cool debate bro!!!" On another note, what would be a safer investment? None of you provided alternatives, or said what you would do instead.
don't invest? put the 5 grand into a savings account and get free money
Jakedog, if you don't care, why didn't you fucking drop it on page 1?
I actually have whats called a life
if you get in a 30k debt you won't have one anymore
Another problem is finding someone who will sell him cash for that many bitcoins. He's planning to make over 3000 bitcoins, he has to find somewhere to sell all that for cash which also wouldn't be easy.

Are you sure you want to keep telling us your view of something you don't understand?

Investment with no risk. Also, stocks, and patience. That plus, you have more important shit to do? why are you arguing with everyone here then? And if it isn't your life then why do you make "Posts Per Day 19.72" that's about 20 posts per day, but you have better things to do? Really? And you don't care about lil old FP, right.
Yes, I realize that. But I've not found one company that will transfer that sort of money that easily.
Yes, I realize that. But I've not found one company that will transfer that sort of money that easily.
Trading bitcoin in general is a hassle, yeah. But if you're serious about trading bitcoin, then you'll be fine as long as you verify on whatever exchange sites you use.
Jakedog, if you don't care, why didn't you fucking drop it on page 1?
If you notice I really argued minimally. [sp] I think it's safe to say that you people with around 10,000 posts have some sort of inferiority complex, all I see any of you people doing is arguing and "proving your point" by forcibly ramming it down others throats. Then you parade around like you've actually accomplished something.[/sp]

Who's the one that needs a life, again?
i have this many posts because of being here for a very long time, and you make way more posts per day than I, so what's that say about you?
My other account, has been here since 07 and I doubt I even have 1,000 posts. But seriously let me just quote this other person I can't explain it well, but most of you people seriously seem to have some sort of complex.
Well jake. There are people in this world who unlike us (most of DD I assume) who don't really control anything that goes on about them, and that insecurity of not being able to control any single facet of life cripples them. They have to go to extreme lengths to sate their need to assert their "dominance". Whether this is by beating their girlfriend or by bashing people online. I agree with you, but I know why they do it, or at least I think I do.
But seriously let me just quote this other person I can't explain it well, but most of you people seriously seem to have some sort of complex.
Wow that completely went over your head I have other accounts as well with 1000 and under "guys guys it's not the number of posts per day that count's it's the number of posts adding up over a long period of time and patience that count's!!!! Never mind how long you spend daily! That doesn't equate to staying on it 24/7!" date and post count is worthless, it means nothing towards ones intelligence or arrogance. You're just another person who wants to sound smart by telling people off who have a higher post count and totally generalizing. I bet mods like Garry with high post counts are dicks too! :downs:
Perhaps a year ago a 30k miner would have been a better idea but at this point in time I just see its effectiveness dropping pretty badly. I bought my 6950 to mine with, I made about 1btc. Now I use it to play games and its a lot more fun.

Go read SH, look at the people who start up arguments, it's the same couple of people every time. I'm saying you have a fucking complex, along with other people on this forum. You get off to belittling and arguing with people, you're a bully :(

Also, you can game and mine at the same time - set CGminer to a relatively low intensity like 2-3, and you'll have almost no performance hit while gaming but your card will still make use of spare cycles when it can. My 5850 makes about 1 BTC/week.
