While I respect your situation it is true for all stories in all forms of media, Call of Duty may hit too close to home to veterans. It is simply unavoidable and a part of freedom of speech/art that has to be tolerated.

It's the fear and vulnerability that drive Laura as a character and attach the player to her.

It seems more like "Lara Croft to be victim of attempted rape, but kills the guy canonically". You could've thrown the same situation at more mature Lara and the outcome would be essentially the same I assume. The only difference would probably be the emotional response that Lara has to the event, and I feel like a lot hinges on how well the writers handle that. I almost feel like it could go both ways. We could either get an Other-M level abortion, or something decent. All that we can do is wait and see. Was sort of looking forward to it, but being raped is not exactly how I'd like to spend my free time, let alone watching as hacks try to use rape as a shallow, transparent emotional ploy to get me "emotionally invested" (ala Starchild) in lieu of using good writing.
