cod has some fucking dramatic scenes though
like stepping out of the bunker to the sight of Washington DC being war-torn, the nuke-emp going off, the bridge almost collapsing, throwing a knife into a guy's eye, a different guy getting stabbed in the eye, flying a blackhawk, the insanity sequence, etc.
I also liked the plots of mw2 and blops but blops played like shit
congratulations, this is how you play mw2!
Not taking the story as one whole book - only single scenes. And oh boy, they really are amazing!
cod has some fucking dramatic scenes though
like the night-time raid, getting your helicopter shot down, gunning with an AC-130, having a nuke kill you, sneaking through chernobyl, lighting up an airport full of civilians, stepping out of the bunker to the sight of Washington DC being war-torn, the nuke-emp going off, the bridge almost collapsing, getting betrayed, throwing a knife into a guy's eye, a different guy getting stabbed in the eye, flying a blackhawk, the insanity sequence, etc.

That's what I like about MW. Those over dramatic scene, with explosions and shit.
so cheap, they still can't get the real Russian voice actors! At least EA does it right.
Makarov's voice actor is Russian.
The only one thing I don't like in these dramatic scenes is that you lose your consciousness a lot
it's like some fetish where players love to get completely dominated by big, strong russians
I actually think MW3 will be better than Black Ops/MW2. Since you will be in many more places than just Russia and America there will be more weapons, more characters, longer game, better story (hopefully), and more dramatic scenes. But the multiplayer will be exactly the same as every year, shit.
I agree that the 1980's sirens are a bit of a fail, and I know that this game will be crap like the rest but immensly popular.
That's all from me. I've never bought one, never will and will just sit here waiting for Nazi Zombies to be standalone.
will just sit here waiting for Nazi Zombies to be standalone.
Fuck now I want that too. It's would be awesome if like map packs weren't 20$ each.

I honestly don't know, they might not be using the same writers for the story (no idea) but a big part of mw2 for me was how it looked. None of that "graphics don't matter" bullshit, but I'm not saying "if it doesn't support 1080p hd it'll be shit", a huge factor in how I like games is how well the graphical style flows. MW2 looked like a single game, you could tell that the M4, AK and AUG were all from the same place. I've seen some screenshots of 3 and wow, it looks like they fucked the flow up big time. Settings and scenarios are important too. France and Germany probably won't make such good game locations, unless the eiffel tower gets blown up or all the breweries in germany are destroyed and beer is just flooding the streets or something. America made a great location because of how iconic the settings in it are, and how most players can relate to it well. Russia was a good setting because of how varied it was, from an airport to chernobyl to the ass-end of nowhere and snowcapped mountains. South America provided stark contrast from the generally cleaner and more open levels by being nothing but close-corridor shantytowns, fighting against ragtag militia.
wow I feel like a robot now
So, if these trailers mean anything, russia picked a fight with the rest of the world?
shepherd probably tried to instigate the other countries into allying with the US
[editline]14th May 2011[/editline]
or, crazy fuck that he is, wanted to see if the US could take on england, germany, france, and russia all at the same time
wow I feel like a robot now
Well you ARE a phone.

I want translations of the French and German, I didn't pay attention in French class so I can't do it myself.
WHAT?!
Deus Ex Human Revolution website was hacked??!?!
THOSE FIENDS! :saddowns:

It also seems like the devs went in the wrong direction in response to the "brown and bloom" criticisms of modern shooters, and made it green and bloom instead :v:
honestly mw2's campaign was fan-fucking-tastic for an action movie and I'll try to get mw3 at a discount just for the story

Call of Duty? Discount?
Call of Duty? Discount?
Have fun waiting two years before that happens.
I had to wait just weeks before I got it second-hand for $10 on the xbox and a few months before I got it for 15% off on the PC (worth it to me). I'll rent it for less than $10 if I have to.

If it's steamworks, then there's absolutely no reason to get it from steam. It's 2 times cheaper in retail than on steam! (MW2 - 20 dollars for retail, even less for steam activation key only)

I had pre-ordered Black Ops like a week before release for about 30$. There are plenty of different deals you can find online.
Like no effort at all to these teasers and even the logo.
Battlefield 3 teasers gave me chills and was not just them bragging about every location they're gonna let us have a 10 minute level on.
these teasers were pretty awful but look at the original teaser for mw2

that is seriously fucking cool
I want to see the reveal.
[editline]14th May 2011[/editline]
Gameplay.
Oh, What a suprise. America VS Russia. Sounds very familiar.
What do you want?
Americans vs space nazis?
X country vs Y country?
For what? For people to start moaning about racism aswell?
Well of course it's going to be America vs Russia. It continues from MW2, hurr. Also other countries joined the party. So it isn't only America, Russia.
mw2's story was literally all about patriotism if you haven't noticed already
mw2 spoilers ahead
[sp]because if I don't explicitly say they're spoilers AND spoiler tag them, someone will inevitably bitch. Shepherd was pissed because of the nuke that killed 30,000 soldiers under his own command at the end of cod4, and believes that it weakened the US's military power, in numbers and faith. He assembles Task Force 141 under the guise of creating a special counter-terrorism unit, and at the start of the game has two separate missions for some of the members: Get Russia's nuclear launch codes, and assassinate Makarov. Step one would remain secret, and step two would 1. distract Russia, and 2. get the US some good publicity. Step one happens as planned, and step two happens according to Shepherd's own personal agenda. Only the American is found in the airport where hundreds of civilians were murdered, which pisses off Russia enough to invade the US. Shepherd is then given full control of the United States Army, and would then try to dominate the world.[/sp]
I'm not a call of duty fanboy, I'm really not, I was linked to the wiki article on shepherd yesterday because a friend wanted me to do voiceovers of some of the level intros, and one thing led to another and I wound up on the page describing the story of mw2.
K where is China, what happened to China and Best Korea? Why is it only the British and Americans fighting? (I'm not talking about the teasers but the the game in general)
don't see why you guys hate cod so much
its a fun series, almost like an action movie
asia has always been isolationist and cod4 and mw2 have been only about the british, americans and russians fighting as countries, there's that segment of mw2 where you're in south america but that's more like a small counter-terrorism unit tracking a single gang member than a war between america and brazil
besides that, you know China would ban a game that featured chinese as the main enemy, and NK would probably nuke the people that made them the enemy in their video game
Homefront?
p sure it's banned in china and playing video games other than "glorious leader simulator 5" is punishable by death in north korea
[editline]14th May 2011[/editline]
oh, originally it was going to be china invading instead of nk but that would've gotten it banned in china, so they changed it to nk and tweaked the story a bit to have nk absorb the rest of asia first
don't see why you guys hate cod so much

Good comparison; action movies suck.
:smug:
The ratings show that people in this thread apparently do enjoy CoD more than I expected for an unknown reason; either that or they don't know how to read.
Good comparison; action movies suck.
look everyone, it's the resident bad company fanboy
his opinion on the topic of call of duty is totally valid
