and why will that protect human rights better?
and replace it with a British Bill of Rights.
But they aren't. If you say it enough times, it won't become true.
A British bill of rights, to which they're not held responsible?
I wouldn't trust UKIP with my Simcity save, let alone the country.
Weird how UKIP have remained so popular despite all this embarrassing shit that's been happening to them.
this video from Bill Maher pertains American politics, but I think can be applied to the British political landscape as well.

"no votes for prisoners"
"indoctrinating children"
"disrupt the free movement of people in a globalised world"
say again?
Prisoners shouldn't be allowed to vote, they've committed a crime against society and should be treated as such.
Hardly indoctrinating children, if you believe that instilling a national identity is indoctrination then most then you should consider most things in school to be indoctrination.
Controlling of movement of people into your country isn't breaking human rights.

"You wouldn't want to live next to a Romanian."
You wouldn't want to live next to a black guy.
You wouldn't want to live next to a Muslim.
You wouldn't want to live next to a Jew.
You wouldn't want to live next to ______
not racist
and why will that protect human rights better?
Because we wrote it and can tailor it better to our interests.
I wouldn't trust UKIP with my Simcity save, let alone the country.
Then that's your problem.

why should a national identity as a country be important? what value does it have to say "I was born here, I'm better than you because of that".
that's the definition of racist.
yeah, but britain is vitally dependent on that cheap foreign labour, good luck keeping up your standard of living by kicking them out?

no it's kind of the countries problem if they are elected.

Are you sure we should apply those standards to literally every group?
Because we wrote it and can tailor it better to our interests.
Or, in other words, it'll be narrow minded and archaic.

what they teach in North Korean schools is "instilling a national identity." kids shouldn't have nationalism instilled into them and it's immensely creepy to see someone argue otherwise
Oh man, the beauty of all this is the Daily Mail getting really confused and putting this story up but also these:
Mass brawl erupts between rival groups of youths in area where former Home Secretary David Blunkett warned of rioting due to influx of Roma immigrants

It's like it hates UKIP for disliking Eastern European immigrants, but still itself dislikes Eastern European immigrants :downs:

If you think that you're a cultural marxist and anti-white. BNP!
what they teach in North Korean schools is "instilling a national identity." kids shouldn't have nationalism instilled into them and it's immensely creepy to see someone argue otherwise
Isn't that kind of what they do In American schools as well? Pledge of Allegiance?
Are you sure we should apply those standards to literally every group?
If we can apply it to Romanians, we sure as hell can apply it to the Irish, can't we? I mean, those nasty micks are taking our jobs and they're foreigners! And they drink! You wouldn't want an Irish person living next to you, would you?
So why is it different?

What's wrong with instilling a sense of national pride? The aim of the policy is to make integration more effective so that communities are less fractured and society can function better as a whole, it's only fair that if people want to live here they should live like the rest of us. You have a strange definition of Racism.

Because national pride is something an individual builds in himself. If its instilled, it's called brainwashing.
need i mention any other cases of children (or "Youth" one might say) becoming a nationalist extension of an anti-immigrant and ethnically exclusionary government

You know full well it won't be anything of the sort. Anything relating to "national pride" sets of alarm bells in anybody with common sense.
Isn't that kind of what they do In American schools as well? Pledge of Allegiance?
Yes
Our entire school system is a perfect example of what not to do
They both are essentially based on absolute state control and collectivism, in practice they are very similar.
What? Communism is all about a stateless, classless society. In a truly communist country there would be no state, so how could there be total state control?
I think most people can agree that Stalin's Russia was more state-contolled capitalism than communism, Lenin's Russia was closer to communism (or at least socialism).

If someone's proud of their country then they feel a greater compulsion to contribute to it. Nation pride only becomes bad when you start hating people of other nations, there's nothing intrinsically wrong with being proud of your own.
Isn't that kind of what they do In American schools as well? Pledge of Allegiance?
yeah and it's super fucking creepy

Why don't you come across the pond and see precisely how much national pride actually does

"You wouldn't want a Romanian as your neighbor."

Wait wait wait. Seriously?
I thought UKIP guy was kidding with that one.
I need to look that up.
Apart from a candidate telling Lenny Henry to go back to a "black country"
Frequent discrimination against romanians because apparently they're all criminals, perpetuated by Mr Farage himself.
Another candidate claiming aid money shouldn't go to "bongo bongo land"
In fact, I'm starting to see some kind of pattern here.
Forgive me if I'm wrong, I don't live in your country, but wouldn't trying to scrap the POA cause a massive shitstorm?
Forgive me if I'm wrong, I don't live in your country, but wouldn't trying to scrap the POA cause a massive shitstorm?
all 12 extremely vocal rednecks who masturbate to the pledge of allegiance would probably whine about it for a week or two and then everybody would forget
Forgive me if I'm wrong, I don't live in your country, but wouldn't trying to scrap the POA cause a massive shitstorm?
It very likely would, yes, unfortunately
Farage's argument that Romanians are more predisposed to human trafficking reminds me of when Brain Damage tried to use statistics to prove that African-Americans were subhuman untermensch
