Its a shame blizzard had to join with activision tho :( other than that yeah they're games are awesome so i agree.
Joining and merging are two different things. Activision and Blizzard have no hand in each others projects.
They're the monopoly of the game industry.
Well their cinematics are certainly as awesome and detailed as Pixar's movies...
It takes like a year from planning to publishing those cutscenes, especially the newer stuff in WoW and SC2. Imagine how long it would take for a full movie.
I don't get RPG's and RTS's. I find them incredibly boring.
I used to enjoy the RTS when I was a kid. Grew up with Warcraft and Starcraft. Didn't really get good enough, though. I'm not really one with the ability to quickly build up a base, others are usually faster.
Computer RPG's on the other hand are one of my favourites, especially Diablo 2. Becoming stronger and better as you progress through the game, it's pretty much remeniscient of growing up, learning more and more about the world as you grow, except the milestones in life are less predictable and harder to find than in an RPG.
I guess you're more into the thrill of the kill, though. I am too, although progressive character development and growth also appeal to me.
The grand quests aren't as grand in reality as they are in a game. Whilst in Diablo 2 you pursue a powerful demon lord across the face of the Earth and into the depths of Hell, the grand quests in real life are only so much as getting your educational degrees, sorting out one's finances, finding somebody to spend the rest of their life with, rather tame and pedestrian stuff. Few people truly venture out into the wild world outside the cities anymore, and those that do don't face as much peril. There's no monsters to fight, no vicious predators, no wayward criminals. All the wolves and bears were hunted to near extinction, and people are far less inclined to defy the law of the land, whilst those that do are quickly dispatched to places of correction that have varying degrees of success in terms of rehabilitation. Nobody's a hero anymore, the ordinary person can't just pick up a sword and wade into the deadly wilds. The modern adventurer is tame, simply exploring the world and it's environs, not daring to pick up a weapon and wade into places of mortal peril. If the adventurers in this modern world were more like the adventurers of yore, the kind that waded into the perilous territories of corrupt kings and wolf-infested caverns, then they'd probably take up weaponry and crusade through enemy territory, taking matters into their own hands. But life is finite, death is permanent, and nobody in their right mind would allow some guy enter a hostile country with a weapon unless they're part of some heavily regulated government-controlled military. Some say it's for the best, and a moral/logical person would definitely agree (i'm not the former, and only partially the latter). But if death wasn't forever, then things would be rather different. If there weren't singular government-controlled armies, and the PMC (private military company) was an actual reality, things would also be different.
But these things are only dreams. Impossible dreams that may probably never happen. And thus we sate such ambitions of adventure with our video games, with little-to-no risk of dying or doing anything that would bring about massive change.
I really should just go to bed, I think too deeply when i'm half-asleep.

Holy fucking shit. Is this how you talk normally? Jesus.
"Hey Jim, is this milk sour?"
"Sourness can be classified as many things true, milk can go sour, but does it always go sour the same way? Nay, I believe that sourness can be broken down into many kinds, or "Juelees". For example, the negtive jule juelee is akin much to that of cottage cheese, whereas the positive tournequette is known for it's ripe flavor etc . . ."
Holy fucking shit. Is this how you talk normally? Jesus.
Nope. This is how I talk when i'm in a philosophical mood, or if i'm half-asleep. The two coincide quite a lot on late night weekends.
Pixar=Blizzard? No
ITT: Butthurt valve fanboys
Pretty much that. Facepunch is chock full of valve fanboys.
I'm going to have to agree with Pixar myself. Blizzard has never made I game I didn't like.
And in terms of the cinematics, Blizzard does fucking awesome CG, whether back in the day or today. I mean, come on:
Valve are the pixar of gaming world
Just shut up. Pixar delivers their movies on release date and don't patch up old animation software to make it look new. come again.
Pretty much that. Facepunch is chock full of valve fanboys.

And Valve has?
And Valve has?
Yes. Yes they have.
Blizzard fucking sucks. Their primary concern is not making a great product, it's to get every last cent out of you they can.
Blizzard fucking sucks. Their primary concern is not making a great product, it's to get every last cent out of you they can.
Yeah, that's why they don't deliver games of great quality like the Starcraft, Diablo, and Warcraft series.
I like how the Starcraft 2 expansions say that new units will not be added to multiplayer because of balancing issues. That's really pathetic you know since it shows the developers aren't even fucking trying to balance them.
And Valve has?
Here we go again... this is facepunch... therefore we all brainlessly love the excact same game you do.
Yup, we're here, so we just all suck the cock of the most outdated, yet somehow patched up technology out there AND the Flagship franchise with a personality stump of a mute and linear levels... yeah.. who's first in line?
OPINNIONS! is a keyword here... probably misspelled too.
"Well, according to Pixar, two companies share that honour."
What's the other company? Also wall-e had a hl2:ep2 character cameo.
Well not really a character, more like a prop.

I like how you try to make hl2 sound as bad as you can.

Sir, that's activision. Blizzard does a fine job at making quality games... their polish and care seems as deep as they say. just like Valves.
Oh, scratch my hard wording towards Valve itself, i just resent the HL franchise, mostly because of the retarded fanboy community. the games are Aight for one playthrough.
Best one i heard yet was "HL2 is so fantastic, the replayability is in top... one time you just follow the path, the next you branch off and explore the terrain" yeah, apart from a few setpieces, the expansive terrain is literally just 5 feet in each direction of the main path.

which one? and would that not pretty much give away the second company?
Yeah, that's why they don't deliver games of great quality like the Starcraft, Diablo, and Warcraft series.
Starcraft was over a decade ago, that's not even the same Blizzard. Diablo was also a very long time ago, and Warcraft is just a Warhammer ripoff. (Same goes for Starcraft & 40K) Not to mention the latest installment (World of) requires a monthly fee.

Do you want to take a random guess at who owns Activision? :downs:
Can we please not go into a ridiculous Valve vs. Blizzard war

Activision. Activision merged with blizzard.

Unlike WoW of course. One direction you got boars, other? Get this. Fucken wolves. Bitch.

It's not like that's any different from every other MMO, with a few notable exceptions.
I'm not talking about Valve. Blizzard is just shit.

Yeah, and they're all moneygrabbers too?
Activision. Activision merged with blizzard.
They're both owned by the same company.

They arent owned by the same company they ARE the same company.
Do they have their own face?
They arent owned by the same company they ARE the same company.
But they're also owned by the same company... Either way. "No, Blizzard isn't moneywhorez, Activision is." has no weight.
Yeah, and they're all moneygrabbers too?
So don't play them? You have that option. If people didn't think they were worth paying into them monthly a lot fewer people would play them.
I disagree. As much as I love VALVe, I really do think this should go to Blizzard.
Fair enough. It's just that I like them both, but Valve seems so similar.

I don't play them. A lot of people think Justin Bieber has musical talent too. Mass appeal =/= truth.
