I don't play them. A lot of people think Justin Bieber has musical talent too. Mass appeal =/= truth.
There is no truth to this whatsoever. It's all opinion. Same goes for Justin Bieber. Just because we think he's shit doesn't make him objectively bad.
My point is that "A lot of people like it" isn't really a valid argument.

And come on... it's Justin Bieber.
My point is that "A lot of people like it" isn't really a valid argument.
Then there's no real way to argue against the notion that they're money grubbing cashwhores. What sort of standard are we supposed to set this against?
But they're also owned by the same company... Either way. "No, Blizzard isn't moneywhorez, Activision is." has no weight.
They aren't owned by any company they are the same company. You cant be owned by a company that you chose to merge with, creating ONE company.
That article was kind of weird. It states that Bioware and Blizzard shared the crown of Pixar of gaming based on work ethic and core beliefs, but then talks almost completely about Blizzard. I would have missed the sentence on Bioware if I didn't read it again. Anyways, it all comes down to a matter of opinion. I'm sure other companies like Valve and Rockstar follow the same attention to detail and motivation when creating their games.
Blizzard hasn't made a good game since Warcraft 3.
Blind fanboy bandwagon ignorance is fun.
I'll have to disagree, When I see Half-life 1 I go, Oh that was a good game
When I see Warcraft two or three, I go, Holy fucking shit that game was awesome and have to play it again.
I seem to remember a game critic saying that Insomniac was able to pull off the Pixar feel that so many other developers attempt to get with Ratchet and Clank...infact it was on the back of my copy of Ratchet and Clank:Tools of Destruction.
Starcraft is merely a carbon copy of Dawn of War.

Anything with heavy suited marines is a blatant rip off.
Anything with heavy suited marines is a blatant rip off.
Zergs - Tyranids
Terran Marines - Space marines
You can barely see a difference.
They aren't owned by any company they are the same company. You cant be owned by a company that you chose to merge with, creating ONE company.
No. Vivendi (who owns Blizzard) purchased Activision as well.
Valve are the pixar of gaming world
Even though I agree what kind of reaction did we expect to get on a Gmod forum.
Well, according to Pixar, two companies share that honour.
Wait does that mean that Pixar and Blizzard share it or that Blizzard and some other gaming company share it?
Anything with heavy suited marines is a blatant rip off.
No. Shut up. Warcraft was originally intended as a Warhammer game that was dropped and rearranged to avoid lawsuits. Warcraft/Starcraft IS Warhammer with a different name. It's so blantant I don't know how you couldn't see it.

Oh shit two things are similar Starcraft must be a blatant rip-off of Warhammer. :downs:
Then Warhammer would be ripping off Starship Troopers, right? And Starship Troopers would be ripping off of Lensmen as well?
Hell, why don't they just copyright the concept of a "space marine" and sue everybody?
Then Warhammer would be ripping off Starship Troopers, right? And Starship Trooper would be ripping off of Lensmen as well?
Yeah, pretty much.
Blizzard tend to make incredibly high quality games, regardless of how 'fun' they are. (In my opinion, very)

If humans with powered armor in space = space marines, buggy aliens = tyranids and advanced psychic aliens = eldar you've basically declared all of science fiction a ripoff of Warhammer. The similarities are pretty much cosmetic. The actual universes are nothing alike. Hell, Warcraft is a bigger ripoff of Warhammer 40k than Starcraft is. Arthas Menethil is pretty much Horus.
Speaking as a huge fan of both Warhammer and Starcraft + Warcraft I can safely say that a lot of element of Blizzard's game are very derivative of Warhammer but no one gives a flying fuck because the games are awesome anyway and different enough that's it's not a copy-paste world, and they're both very engaging in their own right.
Warcraft is just a Warhammer ripoff.
I should probably just stop here, since you clearly have no idea what you're talking about.
(Same goes for Starcraft & 40K)
If you knew anything at all, you would know that Games-Workshop hired Blizzard to make a Warhammer RTS, but it was scraped due to funding(Or they were dropped, can't remember), but instead of throwing away all their hard work, they changed some stuff to avoid copyright problems and made Starcraft from the work they did for Games-Workshop.
Not to mention the latest installment (World of) requires a monthly fee.
Oh no, not a monthly fee! Those servers take more money to run than you'll make in a year.

Warcraft was originally intended to be a Warcraft game you moron, Starcraft was the Games-Workshop failed game.

Because you can "carbon copy" a game that is released six years after the copy, right? :downs:

Warhammer 40K........Everything was there and much more interesting then Starcraft.

Valve is overrated

But it was a table game WAY before it went to the computer.
I've had more fun on WoW than I've ever had on any valve game. The problem with most gamers is they go into WoW deciding they hate it, consciously or otherwise. When you start wow you miss out on all the fun stuff, talking to people, doing things together, in fact early game information overload is a pretty big design flaw which they're trying to fix in the expansion.
You can't compare valve to blizzard. WoW, warcraft etc. are fun but I've never been amazed by any of the game design which is where valve excel.
Blizzard wins because no other company can really compete, in my opinion, blizzard doesn't really compare to how awesome pixar is.
WoW is significantly more imaginative than any valve game, portal included.
Anybody else think that Nintendo fits better?
-They make family-friendly media that instill nostalgic feelings on the consumer.
-They are also a company that started in a related but different field (Nintendo was in card games, Pixar was in CG effects for live action movies).
-Later, both companies swapped to a new industry (video games, fully 3D movies) and defined much of the genre.
-They defined the genre so much that competitors that arrived later would follow very similar methods for many of their products (Sony has been ripping off Nintendo for far too long, and you can't deny that the cartoony style Dreamworks has adopted is not too different from Pixar's).
And unless Pixar is going to start releasing our names on their forums, I don't see much similarity between them and Blizzard.

Do you know what Dungeons and Dragons is? You may not have heard of it before.
It's basically World of Warcraft, but on paper, a little slower paced, and was made around 35 years earlier.
Edit: for the record, I'm not saying World of Warcraft is completely unoriginal, or a carbon copy of D&D, or even a bad game. But If you're going to tell me that World of Warcraft is more IMAGINATIVE than another game, let alone Portal, well, I just hope you're attempting to troll. Name something about it- gameplay mechanics, original plot twists, original classes, anything- that's truly, truly original. I guarantee you you won't come up with anything that isn't either debatable or incredibly minor.

As a huge Blizzard fanboy, I'm gonna have to say, no, not at all.
