Bacteria is one hell of a scary thing.
I heard a story of a kid who died from a horrid bacteria just because he played in his backyard and didn't wash his hands afterwards or something similar to that.
I also heard a story where a kid banged his mouth on his home's basketball hoop accidentally, and one of the worst bacteria known to man just happened to be there, and climbed into his split lip.
It's scary shit.

God, prion diseases are the fucking scariest thing. Basically all of my fears in one disorder. Once you get symptoms (you go asympotmatic for weeks or months) you're incurable and might as well kill yourself and save you and your family the agony of dementia, hallucinations, memory loss, personality changes, psychosis, seizures, stiffness, and finally death. All caused by a goddamned malformed protein that exponentially fucks up every other protein in your brain, causing amyloids to form and kill the nerve cells in your brain. It's like a virus but not even "semi-alive", it's basically the Borg in molecule form.
Doesn't stop me from eating beef though.
