They're tasty as well.
What a fucking horrible death. Getting your mouth, eyes and brain eaten while you're alive, ugh.
What a fucking horrible death. Getting your mouth, eyes and brain eaten while you're alive, ugh.
Insects arent technically "present" in their sorroundings like you and i are. That fly is mindlessly responding to its nerves telling it its being eaten, there is no fear, anguish or even pain, i assure you.
No. If honey bees go extinct we'll have massive crop shortages and food rationing as well as insane inflation on food products. Humanity would adapt and survive and likely breed a new strain of bees to replace them.
Hopefully our next attempt doesn't give us Africanized Honey Bees again.

If the world has to die because bees are going extinct, I say it's god damn worth it. I fucking loathe bees.
Let's enslave hornets and force them to pollinate our plants! [editline]30th March 2013[/editline] OH GOD RUN FP THAT PISSED THEM OFF
Let's enslave hornets and force them to pollinate our plants! [editline]30th March 2013[/editline] OH GOD RUN FP THAT PISSED THEM OFF
I wouldn't mind if Hornets were dying off. Hornets are cunts.
You seem to be implying that we're reliant on bees for something very important, besides honey. Aware me please
haha oh wow, you literally have no clue how we are at the mercy of these bugs
duh we can just make robot bees instead of stinging they shoot tiny lasers
fine ill just pollinate my own ecosystem with blackjack and hookers
Lmao a lot of elitist cunts in this thread Bees aren't the only insect capable of pollinating. They are the best, but they aren't the only insect that fills that role. [editline]30th March 2013[/editline] Saying the entire ecosystem would collapse is rather dramatic. More likely it would take a hit and adapt, as nature always has and always will. It's hardly the stuff of "we're fucked" though.
no we're actually fucked, earth's capacity for most animal life would plummet, including humans

It's hardly the stuff of "we're fucked" though.
If nature and environmental disasters have taught us anything it's that changing or removing even small parts of the ecosystem can have a devastating effect on the environment as a whole (rabbits in australia for example). Bees do a whole lot of pollinating and a huge amount of vegetation simply wouldn't be able to procreate as a result. This then has a knock on effect as animals and plants reliant on that vegetation die themselves and the whole thing repeats itself. Nature can adapt but not nearly quickly enough when you consider the scale of the potential problem.

Now it's just painfully obvious you're acting defensive because your pride got hurt
There's no shame in admitting you were wrong dude, we all are sometimes. Now it's just painfully obvious you're acting defensive because your pride got hurt
Acting defensive for being wrong? Wrong about what dude I literally asked someone to explain the importance All i got was a bunch of non-answers from some cunty aspies with a snobby attitude, and you wonder why people rag on facepunch, lmao. It would be different it I said they were wrong and then tried to vehemently defend my position after, but I didnt have a position to begin with. I was asking why.

There's more bees and more bee colonies that carry more of that work than any other insect or animal

There's more bees and more bee colonies that carry more of that work than any other insect or animal
It would've been ignorant of me if someone had actually explained that. I had asked for an explanation in the first place, the replies I got didn't even attempt to explain that, just some snobby shit along the lines of "WHY DONT YOU KNOW WHAT I KNOW" No fucking joke, go back a page and read the entire thread. There is not one post before I asked explaining that. It's not like I ran into the thread and asked some shit that was already explained.
I don't think you understand. A colony of 40,000 bees+ (each can pollinate 50-150 flowers each day) does not compare to something like a hummingbird or a butterfly.
I thought he explained it quite well
I thought he explained it quite well
Again, read it in order. That came after my second post. The people responding initially were being snobby cunts. It's not like this is an isolated thing here, its a pretty common trend on facepunch, especially in SH.
They're tasty as well.
That was awful to watch.. brutal.
man, what a buzzkill
Bumble bees are the best. They're fuggin huge and very fuzzy. I've watched those things land on flowers and the flowers sag and then snap off the stem. Fatasses.
Bumblebees are absolutely adorable. I often have one land on my hand during summer and it just chills there, walking around a bit before flying off. They're so cute I don't have the heart to shoo them away, no matter how long they take to leave. I mean come on, isn't this the fuzziest lil' bastard you've seen in the creepy crawly world of insects? [IMG_THUMB]http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/pictures/data/2/White_Tailed_Bumble-bee_-_Bombus_lucorum.jpg[/IMG_THUMB] Bees aren't as cute but I try not to bother them. WASPS ON THE OTHER HAND

Makes me want to just cuddle them, so cute.

"chem trails" "radiation from fukishima" uh
We need to make an army of Nano-Bees to pollinate the flowers around the world, it's the only way and it's also cool as fuck.
This is one of the (few) scenarios that scare the ever-loving shit out of me.
Where there is life, there will be life. Where there is death, there will be death. If Bees really are going extinct, something will replace them. Nature has a funny way of making drastic changes.
