My fear over escalators started when I heard the story about a woman that stod on a broken step which broke due to her weight. She fell into the cogs and machinery, which killed her instantly...
Thanks, I wont be able to go on one knowing this.
That's the only way I could imagine it happening. Pretty scary.
I'm seriously just going to take the regular stairs now after all this shit.
Well I got rated dumb for my scientific paint diagram, so I'm assuming I'm wrong with how the event occurred. Could some either back me up or explain how it really happened.
sad though
Man. At least it was instant death though. I wouldn't even want to imagine a slow escalator related death.
Escalators usually are paired up in opposite directions when space is an issue, forming an X, with one escalator going up, and the other going down. If you have something precious and soft (such as your head) between them at the point when they cross, you can get some pretty bad damage
But that doesn't appear to use less space than having the two beside each other so why do they do it like that
Still seems strange that it'd snap his neck, as there wasn't anything holding the rest of his body in place. You'd think he'd just get pushed around. Maybe get knocked over and fall down the escalator at worst. Okay, now I see it. That's horrible.
Today I road an escalator... the metal part I stood on made weird sounds and starting going back and forth, scariest moment of my life...
My fear over escalators started when I heard the story about a woman that stod on a broken step which broke due to her weight. She fell into the cogs and machinery, which killed her instantly...
you have a permanent motive to keep fit, congratulations

Never going on a escalator now if I have to.
wasn't an escalator kill in a final destination movie or something? ayup
wasn't an escalator kill in a final destination movie or something?
Yes.
Despite how hard I try, I can't figure out how he died. How exactly do you get your head wedged between escalators? And what parts of the escalators did he get wedged in?
You are heartless bastard and you fail in live if you try to imagine such thing.
My fear began when I learnt of the story of the boy who's laces got stuck in the steps and got sucked under
Yep. Getting stuck where the escalator ends is also something I keep hearing about. Legs, fingers and entire scalps getting ripped away.
THIS Is why you absolutely do NOT make open elevators. At least not next to each other.
I guess he is taking the stairway to heaven then
Yep. Getting stuck where the escalator ends is also something I keep hearing about. Legs, fingers and entire scalps getting ripped away.
I always end up taking a leap of faith over the part where the stairs go into the floor
sad though
I only just watched Mallrats last night and then this happens.
Ohmygod! At least it was instant, I mean... holy shit what a way to go! [editline]30th January 2012[/editline]
THIS Is why you absolutely do NOT make open elevators. At least not next to each other.
escalators
I never seen those types of escalators here so i am safe from the phobia e.e
I am cringing right now. That is scary and sad.

But that doesn't appear to use less space than having the two beside each other so why do they do it like that
As soon as you step off one you step on the other. You don't have to walk all the way around to get to the other escalator.
This is why you should never lean over the side. I think there were two side by side escalators facing opposite directions, he was leaning over the side and got caught under the other one. Must have made a real mess. Like this.
...that...I don't think that would kill you instantly. It would grab your head and tear it from the rest of your body through sheer force. Given the rate that escalators move, I doubt it was instant.
At least it wasn't painful for the kid. That doesn't make it much less horrible, but still
Why is Recco rating everything funny? Fucking sick bastard wait til I get my hands on you
What is an "Anti-American crusader"?
Atheists, liberals, communists, socialists, democrats etc... You know, your average godless blasphemous scum.
