He didn't have a real gun which makes your post a bit ironic, the injuries are by teargas :^)

So... No more negotiation?
Sounds like we've all gotten to the point that if you show up armed and dangerous in a place like that and take hostages then we're just going to fucking shoot you.

Rofl he had teargas, all shots fired are from the Police
I'll be the one to say it.
This is going to effect tonight's referendum
Why would a local event in Germany affect a British referendum exactly, especially since most of those voters won't even find out about it until tomorrow, if at all?
Probably some kid committing suicide by cop.

Honestly, as much as I'd like to be an idealist and say they should be arrested and put on trial, live capture should be bottom priority in the case of a gunman holding innocent people hostage. In my opinion, if you have the shot that will definitely save innocent lives, take it.
I'm not exactly pro-death penalty, but taking chances in situations like this frequently results in dead victims. I'd much rather have a dead gunman than even the risk of a dead hostage.

I sure hope not.
Such a shit way to go.

I think it's kinda sad that now I see this kind of news, it doesn't shock me as much as it used to because it's become more of a normal thing to expect. How shitty. I hope the people injured are going to be alright.
Rofl he had teargas, all shots fired are from the Police
From the reports that are out now it seems he fired shots from a rifle or long gun, and the teargas was by the police with all the injuries, aside from the death of the shooter, being caused by the teargas.

What relevance does this have?

Bullshit, offical word is blank gun.
Bullshit, offical word is blank gun.
Do you have the official statement somewhere? Would be pretty useful, since so far I've only seen tons of contradictory rumours.
Bullshit, offical word is blank gun.
I was just going off the most recent news articles from large news agencies. As of now I can't find any recent new information.

You are right the teargas is from the police, the dude had a blank gun

Unfortunately that too only repeats reports from other media (i.e. that there are rumours of two different weapons and a grenade, and that it's said by (unspecified) other media he used a blank gun).
I assume the proper official statements aren't out yet. Considering many of the articles I saw so far were only about 50% accurate, I'm going to wait.
Also alle sofortmeldungen die rauskamen und jetzt halt durch Vollartikel ersetzt wurden haben von einer SSW gesprochen.
Vergiss nicht dass das ein englisches Forum ist.
Don't forget, this is an English forum :P
Also what is a SSW, all I could find was "Schwangerschaftswochen".
Schreckschusswaffe.
Alarm Gun / Blank Gun.

I wouldn't worry, they'll be fine. The effects of tear gas dissipate rapidly once you're away from the source, no long lasting effects either if you wash up good and keep your hands out of your eyes, nose, and mouth.
Hopefully nobody was killed sans the gunman
i hope the gunman wasn't killed so he can rot in jail
What relevance does this have?
I think he posted that because in every thread about an american shooting, it inevitably turns into a shitstorm gun control argument, but in a european one, not a peep.
Assuming, anyway.
He is already shot & killed.
that sucks, was hoping nobody would get killed
That's kind of odd. Isn't the German version of the SWAT team world famous for their negotiators, and for almost never ending things with a gun-fight?
This guy must have been pretty damn determined to go out in a blaze of glory.
that sucks, was hoping nobody would get killed
I'm just going to point out that it's both in the thread title and the first line of the article quote.

(Rough translation: 'Well, all live reports that were published and now were replaced by full-length articles talked about a blank gun.)
That's why I'm sceptical. There was a huge amount of contradictory reporting initially, probably in part because of the gun law happening that is/was taking place in the US.
If it's a blank gun, then that would give the Democrats a ton of munition for stricter gun laws.
Had a mass shooting happened (I seriously saw reports of 50 dead at some point.), the Republicans could have used that to 'prove' the futility of stricter anti-gun legislation.
A lot of people from the US seemed to jump onto the issue too on Twitter, which made it a lot less clear which information was actually reliable.

For every single UK with strict laws there's a Switzerland with lax laws, the situations simply do not apply to us because we have a different society and culture. Because of that,

Injecting our legislative debates into topics regarding your country and it's own laws is something that annoys the hell out of me, I hate it when it happens.

Don't worry, we're used to it. There's not a single gun incident or immigration issue here that's not flooded by people from the USA.
It's a little bit more difficult now because of all the people jumping the gun to make this about Islam, but so far I don't think they were right even once about an incident in Germany.
(Personally I still think that the US has a huge gun problem that really needs fixing, considering the to me absolutely shocking lethality of police confrontations and how often shoot-outs happen. I really doubt legislation alone is enough for that though.)

More relevant is actually the new EU gun legislation but ok.

Oh, I wasn't even aware that was going on. Thanks for the heads-up!

The hostage taker was 19 years old and carried only blank-firing weapons and fake grenades.

Somehow the Bild managed to invent an explosives belt, too.
