It's the "norm" because of the shit fucking election system the US currently has. An election system that isn't going to change if the status quo isn't challenged, most realistically internally.
And reason in last weeks to promote of other voting systems (Ranked-Choice voting) as news because we need election reform for United States, And needs be better address instead ignored like everything is fully normal with your way of american voting system works, Except isnt for long time for your country.

your posts are really hard to follow
Good. We wouldn't be here today if it weren't for the Democrat's impotence and corruption.
I see 0 plans to defeat Trump and/or Republicans.
All I see are plans to fight Democrats. If they run as spoilers in certain districts in 2018, they will hand more seats to the GOP than they replace with "progressives".
Acting without thinking is not smart. (What a redundant sentence.) People need to sort their priorities straight, and dont forget that they live in a 2 party state.
There is nothing wrong with campaigning for change within party as long as you arent helping the opposite party.

You have to pick the lesser evil for your interests, not to satisfy some rhetoric or societal norm. It became a norm because it is logical, not the other way around.
This is the plan. The fact that Donald fucking Trump is POTUS should tell you that being the party of "not as bad" is a failed strategy and the current Dems are totally unfit to do anything other than that. The Democratic game plan since the Clinton era has been to pander to specific minority groups and well-off coastal liberals so that they don't offend their corporate donors by actually advancing the interests of the working class. This leaves the door wide open for the Republicans to swoop in and appeal to the resentment of the otherwise ignored working people in relatively homogeneous flyover states and use said minority groups as a scapegoat so that they, too, can work for their corporate donors unhindered.
