Pornhub is crowdfunding to carry out and film the first ever sex in space
Every time a woman posts on Reddit it's the same sort of thing. Jokes about sex. Requests for pictures. Somebody posts "Sorry, no posts on gonewild!"
And if it's a picture, they'll """hint""" (in the lightest sense of the word) that they want to see her naked/have sex with her/some other gross unwanted sexual shit, outright ask for nudes, or just blatantly say "I would fuck your mom/sister/cousin/whatever." And then those posts will be upvoted hundreds of times, meaning that hundreds of people actually found the "joke" funny.
To the average redditor, "sexual harassment" is only physical groping (and even then they'll probably say she was asking for it), so I'm not surprised that gutter trash website couldn't resist 'bearding out over a woman posting.
I wouldn't say it's gutter trash. The defaults, where the harassment happened, are trash, but there's some good stuff there.
That's what people say but I'm not convinced about that. I just think that the opportunity for shitty behavior just doesn't come up as much in the niche subs, and that's why people think they're less shitty. But it's the same community.
Nah. Niche subs generally don't agree with default Reddit mentality. Trying to be a bigot or a sexist in /r/asoiaf or /r/paradoxplaza or whatever will get you banned pretty quickly. Most of the gaming subreddits tend not to be shitty as a rule, as do the interest subreddits like /r/drawing

So what you're saying is that the largest portions of the website are shit, but the small tiny communities that don't have any effect on the website aren't? That doesn't make things any better. The vast majority of the website is still blatantly misogynistic and racist.
People upvote these childlike, creepy, and sexist comments by the hundreds on what is basically the front page of the website. It doesn't matter if a niche subreddit will ban you for being sexist when /r/pics (8,663,732 readers) will blast your comment to the top for saying "Lel she's hawt xD".
Also, looking up the reader count of /r/pics, I found it flooded with absolutely vile fat hate. So yeah.
i could see this happening since money in the porn industry is easy...
but i feel this is just disrespectfuland bringing part of the shit of humanity into something that to me represents hope for something for better.
i wonder if the sperm would last longer in its condition.

what if Q showed up in the middle of them having sex
Reddit is against anyone who isn't straight, cis, white, able, or male. "OP is a fag" still gets showers of upvotes in most subreddits.
Not to mention transphobic bullshit like "I SEXUALLY IDENTIFY AS AN ATTACK HELICOPTER". They say it's making fun of otherkin, but otherkin don't sexually identify as things, so that defense breaks apart in seconds.

I'd say it's about half and half, with half the users being the shitheads and the rest dispersed across the community.
Nothing you won't find in SH.

SH doesn't regularly apologize for rape and sexual harassment, or advocate for the extermination of blacks, and if the occasional megacreep who does comes up, they're quickly banned instead of being accepted.

er...
are you saying it would be more valid if they had said "I identify as attack helicopter", without specifying "sexually"?
is that the key to a legitimate criticism of noncis identities?

So these types of sweeping generalizations are okay, but if someone were to say "everyone on tumblr is a special snowflake who is way oversensitive" you'd probably blow a gasket, right? Get real.
how is Kubrick going to help them fake it this time???
I swear to God if it isn't called "The Milky Way"

Let's ignore, for a moment, the can of worms that is calling the age-old meme "OP is a fag" homophobic, despite how misguided, uninformed, and downright wrong it is, or how dishonest or naive it is to attribute it to malice instead of humor. Originating in homophobia, maybe, but it has undoubtedly transcended such a thing.

This is quite the steep claim. According to reddit.com/about , around 3,690,000 logged in reddit accounts were active in the past 24 hours. Let's assume that 80% of them are actual accounts and not throwaways. We're now down to 2,952,000, and we'll say that of those, 30% (30% is a good number for "average" right?) agree with this idea. According to you, at least 885,600 that visit a website are a few steps removed from rapists.
You're bascially calling an indeterminate number of people sexual harassers, all because they visit a website. A website that is very compartmentalized. We'll expand on this right here.
SH doesn't regularly apologize for rape and sexual harassment, or advocate for the extermination of blacks, and if the occasional megacreep who does comes up, they're quickly banned instead of being accepted.
Hokay, this is just downright silly. Can you guess how many active subreddits (defined by having at least 5 posts per 24 hours) there are? If you guessed 9,522, you'd be spot on.
Now maybe you don't know this, but reddit is a very compartmentalized community, as I said before. I like to work by example, so let's say we have a subreddit called /r/picsofdeadkumquatsonthevine. At some point, someone clicked a button on reddit that let them enter a name for a new subreddit, and they chose that name. They become a moderator of that subreddit, and are free to promote more moderators and even configure a spam filter and such, all for this subreddit.
Now, by their very nature, these subreddits are very insulated. Probably due to the fact that there is a subreddit for almost every interest, as well as the fact your front page on reddit is tailored to what you subscribe to. Of course, people subscribe to what they like, and avoid what they don't. Soon, an insulated community forms within /r/picsofdeadkumquatsonthevine. let's say that this community is 100,000 strong and sometimes hits the first page of /r/all (which is every submission on every subreddit). This subreddit also happens to have a very conservative view of sexual matters and acts as a place to discuss them sometimes. That women should dress more conservatively, that women who were assaulted could have avoided it, etc.
But what if there is another subreddit, called /r/leaveyourshoesatthetable, that is very similar to /r/picksofdeadkumquatsonthevine except for their political views? What if they shun instead of embrace these bad sexual assault ideals? What if they rise to the top just as often? Which political view does reddit in its entirety align with? Of course the answer is neither, it'd be silly to suggest anything else with such a huge and fractured population.
To compare these fake subreddits to the current topic at hand, there are many, many, MANY subreddits where acting like a huge creep is the norm. But there is also an ever-growing number of subreddits that do not align with your gross overreaching generalizations, and indeed ban the people that post them, much more than you seem to think or imply.
Or, to compare these fake subreddits to Facepunch, you probably see similar faces in SH, right? And that there is a big difference between the people who regularly post in Fast Threads and SH?
I don't know when this got away from me, but at least I kept it under 600 words until you count the quotes.

bro keep it short i dont care about reddit
stereotypes are only good when i agree with them -rocket 2015
I have never been to reddit - you, right now
if i replaced reddit with tumblr and posted it to u it would be just as big as an epic own....
I have never been to reddit - you, right now
Not agreeing with either of you but instead of the witty zingers, try proving him wrong.
I've been to Reddit. Never seen any of the shit that people say is there. I've been to Tumblr and you can't avoid it.
so there! hah cant top that shit
man its way easier arguing this way, dont gotta prove jack shit
How do I do that? List examples? I can do that if that'd prove anything.
for every cherry picked example of harassment on reddit ill just cherry pick an example of people being oversensitive on tumblr its really easy to play this game the way youve set it up
to which you could argue that im just digging and its kinda rare to which i can sorta say the same thing because i dont run into harassment on reddit on the front page subs unless i go to the most downvoted or go hunting for them on obscure subs.... just like on tumblr
food for thought maybe both sweeping generalizations are full of shit and built on faulty self-affirming reasoning?
How have I "set it up?" I don't think there's any way for me to prove that there's a huge harassment problem on Reddit if you refuse to believe it.
and theres no way for me to prove that theres a real oversensitivity problem on tumblr if u refuse to believe it......

Demonstrably wrong. Space is defined as anything over 100km above the planet. LOE is between 160KM and 2000.
