Rape is definitely way worse than being accused of rape, no doubts about that at all. Still though, a part of me doesn't like the idea of falsely accusing someone of rape and getting away with it, or even not getting away with it just because that accusation will follow you forever true or not. It's not as bad as rape in anyway but it's also not a good thing.

Every "false rape accusation" thread goes the same way. People call the person a cunt/bitch/asshole/etc. People say that false rape accusations are almost as bad as rape. Other people say that it's as bad as rape. No, it's even worse than rape! Then, eventually, sanity comes over the thread. I'm pretty sure I've made this exact post before but whatever. Every "criminal accusation" thread ends up being full of people blaming the accused - especially in rape cases. We can't really complain about false rape accusations if we're part of the problem.

I like how people say these things never happen whenever one of these threads is posted. False rape accusations do happen and thats why we can't just assume every accuser is right. So many people talk about throwing innocent until proven guilty out the window with this specific issue and its insane.

oh look it's another Impact1986 thread reminding us how hard it is to be a man in a world where people shock-horror [I]lie[/I], and only men are hurt by lies, and only women lie, the bitch-cunt's. The negative stigma attached to being falsely accused of rape isn't systemic, it has to do with the people around you. If you were cleared of charges and friends or family still think you are a rapist that's their ignorance at work. If you're employer refuses to hire or rehire you after being cleared then that is something you can take to court (as long as you live in a right to work state, atleast). The justice system isn't meting out social shaming on victims of false rape accusations. For the people who think committing a crime is just as bad about lying about someone committing said crime then I don't really know what to say other than that's just wrong. They are completely different crimes. Lying about someone doing something is perjury, slander, or libel. These are already criminal misdemeanors if you can prove in court that they have damaged your reputation. Perjury is just illegal as long as it is pertinent to the case itself.

Accusing someone of hitting a family of four on the road and driving away isn't as bad as actually wiping out a family in your SUV. Lets take a worst case scenario, you've been falsely accused of raping a child, it goes to court, your name is plastered all over your local news, you're found guilty and get 8 years in prison, you're now in prison with murderers and people who have committed other heinous crimes and every single one of them will try and kill you, since people in prison for offenses against children are targeted by other inmates, so if you somehow survive those 8 years in prison you are released, but now you're on the sex offenders register for life, everyone knows your name and what you look like, you have to find a new place to live that must be over 1000m from a school or playground, you have to visit a police station every week, and every vigilante is wanting to find you and beat your ass. Your life is ruined, everyone hates your guts, your chances of finding a job are slim, and you will forever be known as a child sex offender even if you go to court and prove it was false, and all from something you never even did. False rape accusations completely ruins your life, and causes people to kill themselves. It's not absurd to compare it to a similar life ruining experience which also causes the victims to take their own lives.

False rape accusation is probably the easiest way to imprison an innocent and while they do not get death penalty legally, their life is almost over. Shit is fucked up how easy it is. As long as there is no grounded alibi or evidence that you didn't do it, you're fucked.
