One thing I don't quite understand, how does Israel think it has a right to stop vessels going to a sovereign nation that is not their own? Like imagine if Russia was trying to sell some arms to Vietnam/China/etc. and some Western-allied nation tried to board the freighter and shoot people on board, there'd be a mountain of outcry.
Gaza has a functional port?
Anyone who believes this is going to happen is too naive. I have a serious question here-Do you really think Israel, or Turkey, or any other government really gives a flying fuck about the humanitarian situation in Gaza? Fuuuuck no. People, sure. Private organizations, not all of them, but some. But politicians just use whatever they have to either rally support to get reelected again or to divert public attention from the shit and corruption that is inside their own government. My point is this- The Israeli governemnt acted like a bunch of babies in 2010, and Erdoğan couldn't have gotten a better gift. All he's doing right now is waving his dick around in Israel's face going PHWOARR and hoping that the citizens of Turkey would back him up and think of him as a hero. But is he going to make a military move? I highly doubt it.
This. Turkey is just using its citizens hate against Israel and the blockade to refuel and justify its acts.
I wonder how Turkey would react when someone decided to send a Free North-Cyprus flotilla or a Kurdish Humanitarian Aid fleet. Erdogan is just trying to get more votes for the coming election and the turkish government consist out of hypocrites.
North-Cyprus is free, it's like Turkey's backgarden Las Vegas.
Gaza has a functional port?
Well I don't know, does it?
Well I don't know, does it?
I don't know, that's why I asked you.
I'm surprised Israel isn't laying sea mines at this point. Then again like nobody uses those anymore.
I'm surprised Israel isn't laying sea mines at this point. Then again like nobody uses those anymore.
Iran does but Israel would NEVER lower itself to Iran's standards
I'm surprised Israel isn't laying sea mines at this point. Then again like nobody uses those anymore.
Come on GunFox, you and I both know that this is just a political spin, and that nothing would come out of it. I don't think anyone in the Israeli government is too naive to fall for that too.

I don't think anyone in the Israeli government is too naive to fall for that too.
the israeli government has some crazy people in it. But yeah the government as a whole would never do that.

I don't think anyone in the Israeli government is too naive to fall for that too.
Except the Minister of Foreign Affairs. [editline]10th September 2011[/editline]
What? This is a picture of a weapons cache, where does it indicate it came from the Flotilla? This is not how you try to prove a (bullshit) claim.
I took the picture from an article about the flotilla. It is in Hebrew, I can post that indictor from the article here if you want.
Am I the only one that thinks this isn't that big of a deal? I'm sure it wouldn't be hard for Israel to just block off Turkeys ships with their own and even if it escalated I'm 99% sure nothing would happen.
Except the Minister of Foreign Affairs. [editline]10th September 2011[/editline] I took the picture from an article about the flotilla. It is in Hebrew, I can post that indictor from the article here if you want.
Just wondering, source?
Just wondering, source?
Google Reverse image search turns up three articles on Haaretz about Iranian weapons smugglers, all published a full year before the flotilla raid. [editline]9th September 2011[/editline] That is some impressive inattention to detail.
I don't know, that's why I asked you.
Seems like it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_of_Gaza [editline]9th September 2011[/editline] Or, not a functioning one actually. "In 2005, Israel approved Palestinian plans to rebuild and complete the Port of Gaza, which was destroyed by Israeli forces following the outbreak of the Second Intifada." ...Israel destroyed it? Why am I not surprised?
It really has to be a bitch to unload those aid ships without a proper port.
It really has to be a bitch to unload those aid ships without a proper port.
exactly so the aid ships would be sailing where to unload? an Israeli port?
Seems like it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_of_Gaza [editline]9th September 2011[/editline] Or, not a functioning one actually. I hope we see a major war. It'd be nice to see Israel get their asses kicked. Nobody likes those smelly fucks anyways.
I hope we see a major war. It'd be nice to see Israel get their asses kicked. Nobody likes those smelly fucks anyways.
Not sure if you're serious or trolling. But It's nice to know that you think there should be a major war, which would cost the lives of many on both sides (possibly including the lives of my friends and family) because "nobody likes us smelly fucks anyway". I can't really see a way this will end well. I just hope nobody dies because of this stupid political shtick by both Israel and Turkey.
Just a small nitpick, but opening fire on a trespassing ship is standard protocol worldwide. It's basically navy rules of engagement 101. However you're supposed to shoot several times in front of the ship, if this fails and the ship refuses to change course or halt you are then authorized to take offensive action which is usually simply shooting the engine of the ship without harming its crew, bringing the ship to a standstill. However in this case, Israel stormed with commandos.
a ship in international waters is not trespassing, and they were going into gaza waters. [editline]10th September 2011[/editline]
First of all, I didn't exactly knew which countries sent the flotilla, but I know Turkey was on of them, and one of the more influencing. Second of all, there WERE weapons on the ship. And even if they were all tools, it's not the medications they claimed to be transporting to Gaza. And last but not least, it is absolutely not lies. But what am I saying? Obviously an Australian knows alot more than me as to what happend so close to my country.
i'm a new zealander... don't you EVER call me an australian. but clearly i do know a lot more because i don't believe ridiculous lies like you do, if they were smuggling warheads and guns and shit like that it would have made international news, but it didn't because most people in the international community that follow this stuff aren't gullible or fanatical enough to believe such bullshit. and there WAS all the medications and shit they claimed to be transporting, the tools they had were the TOOLS THAT ARE ON EVERY SINGLE MODERN SHIP IN EXISTENCE BECAUSE THEY ARE KINDA NEEDED TO KEEP A SHIP IN WORKING ORDER.
Seems like you read only half of the sentence.
There were people fighting against them, so they blew up a port? Remember, in 2005 Hamas was not in charge of Gaza, it was Fatah.
Very much a case of Pot calling the kettle black.
exactly so the aid ships would be sailing where to unload? an Israeli port?
They probably would moor off the coast and then use smaller craft to ferry the supplies. I assume they take the lack of a functional port into consideration when choosing supplies, as I could easily see some building supplies not fitting on a shallow water craft. The US should pull a mindfuck and offer an LCAC to help unload the ships. Just to watch Israel shit themselves in confusion. Those things will ferry virtually anything without worry. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landing_Craft_Air_Cushion
From the images it looks like a retired passanger/vehicle ferry which usually have giant unsealed doors at the back which would allow of such a thing, maybe mount a crane on it and then bring it down to a tugboat which can ferry it back and forth pretty quickly and easily. No need for US Navy mind fucking.
Seems like you read only half of the sentence.
seems like you totally support collective punishment
