But whale tastes nice. Someone needs to think of a way to farm them. Fuck.
prepare the whalebone harpoons (we use them to harpoon other whales)
I find this show really hard to watch. It's basically them fucking failing over, and over, and over..
It's like ghost hunters only it's whale hunters hunters
and there's no ghosts, still :saddowns:
you sunk my battleship :(
According to new articles, he'll probably be handed over to the coast guard... The Japanese Coast Guard!
cause they're manipulative jackasses they portray whalers as some psychopaths who has no feelings and kill whales out of joy. Whalers are usually family men who whales because they needs that paycheck to support their family. But do they show that side of the story? No. They just portray theirs and make themselves look like honorable crusaders. They also make shit up like their captain getting shot when there is no sound of it whatsoever.
Why do they need to make a living off endangered animals? They can raise a fucking cow and sell it to the U.S.
;20255580']Why do they need to make a living off endangered animals? They can raise a fucking cow and sell it to the U.S.
yes because japan has plenty of prairie for cattle farming
and cows aren't as profitable as a whale, nor does it have as many uses
Not to mention the overhead costs of establishing a thus nonexistent infrastructure for ranching in a nation whose prices for land are inordinately high.
yes because japan has plenty of prairie for cattle farming
They should genetically alter them to hatch from eggs, then incorprate some kind of vertical method like in chicken hatcheries. Or do it like a giant puppy mill. Time to start replying to some posts.... [editline]04:09PM[/editline]
I'm surprised they didn't shoot his ass and toss him overboard.
That would be illegal. [editline]04:09PM[/editline]
Since when was it illegal to kill people on the high seas? God dammit, just snap his neck and throw him overboard. I'm suprised nobody harpooned his ass the moment he was caught onboard.
Since it was Australian waters. Again, Illegal. [editline]04:11PM[/editline]
No one said they were insane, and I agree with their idea of ending illegal whaling. The problem is they're complete jackasses who do the stupidest things to stop these whalers. Politics? Negotiation? Fuck that! Let's fire some stink bombs, flash grenades, and toxic butter at their ship and play deafening sirens and use hoses against them! They still don't comply? Put 'em under citizen's arrest of course! [editline]10:30AM[/editline] This also. I mean, their cause is noble, but the way they further their cause is idiotic. [editline]10:32AM[/editline] The Japanese claim they aren't doing anything illegal/they're only using them for research. Both are mostly lies though.
Their actions have actually forced the Aussie government to get involved. Next meeting of the IWC Australia and the Commission are going to confront Japan about the illegal whaling in the Sanctuary. Japan may offer a compromise to reduce kills in the Sanctuary of the IWC reinstates full commercial whaling. [editline]04:12PM[/editline]
They're not fishing, they're whaling, and it isn't regulated.
It is regulated by the IWC. The IWC Regulates all whaling activity and banned commerical whaling in some moratorium in the 70s or 80s or something. They did not ban Research whaling, so technically what Japan is doing is legal but Australia claimed the area in the southern ocean where the whalers hunt and made it a whale sanctuary where it is illegal to kill ANY cetacean for ANY reason. They also specifically banned the Japanese whalers from ENTERING Aussie waters. Say if they tried to port in Melbourne they would be arrested before they got to the dock. Their whaling is legal, where their doing is is not.
It's like you're a giant Republican/Conservative propaganda machine It's so...funny...really...well...sorta
it's more funny when people take the line "whales should regulate themselves" seriously URA FUCKING GENIUS
It's cool because stupid of that magnitude can't regulate their own bowels.
Broken Auto merge, pasting in above post.
Why don't they just buy torpedos, and a communication jamming system, then sink the bastards. (That applies to either side)
Probably because the whalers don't want to hurt anyone, they just want to make a decent wage. Whereas the whale hunter hunters seem pretty keen on ramming their boat into other boats and threatening the lives of dozens of innocents.
Why don't they just buy torpedos, and a communication jamming system, then sink the bastards. (That applies to either side)
because that would pretty much play into the hands of the anti-whale hunters, getting attention and making the whalers look like the bad guys. the reality is the whalers are just average working class japanese people and the anti-whalers are just a bunch of upper-class hippies trying to make their dumb show rake in more money

What part of Australia BANNED them from entering national waters don't you get? The whalers are breaking Australian national law and should be arrested for it. Though SS may have stupid tactics you can't really call the whalers all innocent. Their both guilty for something.
It's illegal to whale there.
It's also illegal to THROW FUCKING MILITARY GRADE FLASH GRENADES AND STINK BOMBS AT A SHIP, AND CONTINUALLY RAM IT.
It's illegal to whale there.
Since when the fuck is illegal fishing justification to attempt to murder dozens of crewmen and sink a boat? [editline]05:41PM[/editline]
It's also illegal to THROW FUCKING MILITARY GRADE FLASH GRENADES AND STINK BOMBS AT A SHIP, AND CONTINUALLY RAM IT.
Exactly. It's pretty fucking illegal to RAM A BOAT INTO ANOTHER BOAT TO TRY TO SINK IT Why the fuck do you THINK Sea Shepherd is denied port in the USA? They're fucking criminals. Shit they're denied port in dozens of places because they have been classified as a terrorist organization.
+1 agree to Lankist.
It's also illegal to THROW FUCKING MILITARY GRADE FLASH GRENADES AND STINK BOMBS AT A SHIP, AND CONTINUALLY RAM IT.
They don't throw military grade shit, they literally throw bottles of rotten butter. They have never used flash bangs. [editline]04:54PM[/editline]
Since when the fuck is illegal fishing justification to attempt to murder dozens of crewmen and sink a boat? They are banned in Canada though. Give me one solid example where they have deliberately tried to harm the crew of the Whalers. I highly doubt a boat full of enviro-hippie, vegan pacifists have intentions to kill anything. They don't even aloud meat or alcohol on their ships.
I'm surprised this didn't happen sooner. They're aggressive terrorists, the lot of them. Doesn't the captain of the boat hold martial law over his people on international waters? Couldn't they just give the Shepards the old Somalian Pirate treatment? Lankist, how much do you know about maritime justice?
It is when it comes to them. It has nothing to do with angst, I just don't like them and really couldn't care less if they all fell over dead. I'd just like to get some entertainment out of it if at all possible.
I HAtE THE WORLD EVERYONE BUT ME IS AN IDIOT!!!!
Should it be any other circumstances, say they chase the whalers into waters where their actions are legal I would not support them as much as I do. I'm just glad they are adding publicity to a subject most people would not care to look into. Whale Wars and Sea Shepherd has given the "cause" if you want to call it that huge publicity that would otherwise go unnoticed. Sea Shepherds methods are extremely controversial, and of course idiotic. However I would not go as far as to call them Terrorists. Paul Watson claims to have sunken ships before but I don't know the full story on these and will not touch on that. Their actions in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary I believe are somewhat justifiable as they have yet to hurt anyone, and the only destroyed ship was theirs and that was caused by the whalers actions. The Whalers were there first and are violating Australian Law that not only bans the killing of Cetaceans, but also clearly bans the presence of Japanese Whaling ships. The Australian government could care less that they are breaking the law down there and so Sea Shepherd has taken responsibility to raise awareness and attempt to bankrupt the Whalers by spoiling any whale they get with Buteric Acid. They're retarded and ballsy tactics have actually succeeded in forcing the Australian Government to do something about it and this will be acknowledged in the upcoming IWC meeting. Once Japan is kicked out of the Sanctuary, Sea Shepherd will inevitably chase them still to places where "Research" whaling -as corrupt as it is- is perfectly legal and then I'll reconsider my view on them. I'm not against Whaling as a whole, I am however strongly against overfishing of any animal. Sanctuary boundaries should be respected, if Australia is not willing to do it then give it up or expect radical people like Paul Watson to show up.
it's more funny when people take the line "whales should regulate themselves" seriously URA FUCKING GENIUS
I didn't He just says shit that I'd expect from the forementioned groups
Lankist, how much do you know about maritime justice?
I know killing people isn't the answer.
