Jeez Disney. First announcing that you but Marvel and used their characters on the side for your crappy Disney cartoons, then you buy LucasFilms and fucking Star Wars, from a man who sold it because he thought the world was going to end, and like Marvel, used it's characters in you're crappy sitcoms, Then you announce that you're not going to produce any more traditionally drawn animated films anymore, then you close LucasArts games, and now here you are about to lay off it's workers. Man Disney you've lost you're magic.
Wow, you really have no idea what you're talking about. Disney has been pretty responsible with Marvel. Have you seen the Avengers?
With a library of games under its belt and no recent development they saw LuicasArts fit for being liquidated as they didn't want the studio but the rights to all the games it developed. It's similar in ways to what EA and Activision do.
I too would keep a studio that doesn't produce anything and just wastes money occasionally making crappy games. [editline]7th April 2013[/editline] If anything, you guys will be seeing more Star Wars games now since Lucas doesn't have to personally oversee everything anymore. Any company can just go up to Disney and ask for a license now, which would give way to more variety of genres from Star Wars Kinect to Battlefront 3.
LucasArts hasn't really been producing much in terms of games. Most was developed by other studios following 2003, so it is obvious that since the studios didn't have any game production, that they had to close the studios down. Its a shame, though I don't think we would have any good Star Wars game like Republic Commando was. 1313, maybe. But then again people said the same about Force Unleashed and look how that turned out...
They bought Lucasfilm, which came with LucasArts.
further pointing out that they just wanted Star Wars for the movies and not the games. maybe if they gave LucasArts a little more time they would've made a game that would be worth making a profit off of.
My mom works for Lucasfilm. Everyone is worried here.
I don't see why people are freaking out over this. Yea people lose their jobs but that happens. They changed LucasArts to licensing anyway, plus they haven't put out a decent game in a long while. Whats the problem?
I am disappointed Disney. I was looking forward to 1313 and First Assault. I just hope everyone can find new jobs quickly and the projects are eventually resumed by competent, fun minded, skillful studios.
Well then, this sucks. I'm guessing that there will be another star wars kinect.

Whatever happened to their awesome physics engine which had stuff that broke realistically and dynamically and had endorphin that was shown in a tech demo before Force Unleashed came out? I never played Force Unleashed because it never came out on PC but I didn't hear anything good about it at all. It seems they just downrated the entire physics engine and made it crap and standard.

Kids can handle a storm trooper losing his head. It's not like sabers leave gore (except that one time shhhhh).
Pixelux is still around. A new game with DMM is coming out soon.
Imagine a new Jedi Knight game with DMM and Euphoria. HAH, too bad that will never happen
