yeah. im a yes voter but the way a lot of them act is quite shit. I've heard some call people shit like "not true scotsmen" for voting no i mean, what the fuck does that even have to do with anything, its just an opinion. I couldn't give a toss if you vote yes or no, a lot of my good friends are voting no, and a lot are voting yes, there's no reason to get truly divisive over it. I wish more people found debates like this fun rather than excuses to be a cunt. [editline]30th August 2014[/editline] regardless of what the outcome is, im genuinely a bit worried about how long this division will stay, because some people really do get wound up by it to worrying degrees.
The biggest question in this debate is whether or not Facepunch will change people's flag symbols in the event of Scotland being independent.
As an Englishman its terrifying enough the thought of having to wake up to a country after the referendum where its been torn apart let alone wakeup in a future state with a load of bitter and divided people.
As a Welshman, I'm just terrified of the thought of our country being left alone with England :v:
As a Welshman, I'm just terrified of the thought of our country being left alone with England :v:
if scotland gets independence i have a feeling that support for pro-independence parties in wales will probably increase and you'd see a referendum on the cards within a few years but then again i dont really know much about the politics of wales so maybe im totally wrong. i probably am.
As an English person, we apologise profusely for our government being a right cunt. [editline]30th August 2014[/editline] Can the rest of England become independent from London?
Honestly I'm hoping Scotland either becomes independence or gets devo max. I wouldn't mind being part of the UK if we had full control over our taxation, policies, politics etc. Wales might follow if that were to happen.
Sorry for the Government everyone had a chance to vote for :((
Except basically no one outside of England votes for the Tories.
Except basically no one outside of England votes for the Tories.
Despite only getting a single MP in Scotland, the Tories still got half a million votes in Scotland in 2010. They also got a decent amount of seats and votes in Wales.
England makes up the overwhelming majority of the population so everyone else's votes practically do not exist
Good thing we're all British citizens and not some isolated pockets that hate each other.
the united kingdom of england and westminster
so does it seem practically at all possible that Scotland will be independent?
the polls excluding people on the fence are very close. the no side is slowly going down and the yes side is slowly going up. in my opinion most polls usually turn out to miss by a long shot so its really anybodies guess.
so does it seem practically at all possible that Scotland will be independent?
The margin of error in polls is generally accepted as 3%. Excluding undecided voters this places the yes vote at between 40% and 51% in the last two months - bearing in mind polls are generally conducted over a sample of 100-2000 voters (again, generally. There will be some with considerably more). The real result could be a vast difference from 40-51% as people who are not signed up for these polls are likely to vote in the referendum. Which side they will vote for is anyone's guess - and of course, people who have never voted before Can Scotland be independent? The answer is, without doubt, yes. Should Scotland be independent? Some people think so, some people do not. I personally think control over ourselves can't be a bad thing, though I wouldn't reject the idea of being part of a union where Scotland has full economic and political control over itself.
