Assuming religists aren't.
The fuck is a Religist?
Atheist means lack of belief, they are sure there is no god. Gnostic atheists believe it to be likely there is a god but it will never be known, agnostic atheists acknowledge there could be a god but that it is very unlikely.
no not sure but just dont believe,
I just listened to a Christian apologetic show on the radio, they were complaining about this and said that atheists and agnostics "studied the bible more just so they could argue against christians"
Gnostic Theists are people who believe in a god who possesses flaws. The term isn't used to describe people who are sure of their beliefs, because such a person doesn't deserve a title besides "idiot"
I honestly just look up flaws in religions and point them out to practitioners of a certain faith to hear their answers, I'm always curious. It also helps to explain exactly why you no longer believe in God when people go nuts after hearing you don't.
Why not just be civil instead of complaining about things that don't matter. God isn't an existance believed to be the same as everyone. If atheists are strongly against believing in an actual superior being, they must have views about what they think really matters to them. That means they have beliefs, but not religious beliefs. Yeah, this point is heading nowhere so nevermind :smug:
When the religious pushed for adding the phrase weren't they doing the same thing? Adding shit that doesn't matter? The difference is they want to indoctrinate people with it as opposed to those against it just wanting a little secularism. [editline]10:17PM[/editline]
There is a teapot in elliptical orbit between earth and mars, but it's so small that no telescope of any kind can see it, ever. It's been there forever and without it's subtle gravitational pull we would have been thrown in harms way because it wouldn't be able to have a slight pull on asteroids coming towards us, clearly we should be praising this almighty teapot for without we couldn't live.
Can you guys start thinking of some original metaphors please. I'm tired of Russell's "we can look at Jupiter but can't look beyond the universe but somehow it's still the same thing" teapot.
So you're not allowed to pray in schools in America?
From what I understand, you are allowed to pray all you want. I just don't think it's allowed to be performed by school-sponsored events or individuals.
You answered 12 out of 15 questions correctly for a score of 80%.
I don't really need to know shit, I know enough to know that it's all a giant fairy tale.

The term DOES describe people who are sure of their beliefs.
Being an agnostic, I've studied most religions to see if any appealed to me. Also i was raised catholic so for most of my life I considered myself one. I have respect for most religious institutions if their intentions are good, but I don't necessarily believe in their deities. And because of that I can't be a member of those religions, but I respect them, and I'm not anti-religious because I believe religion has done a lot of good in the world. It's the people that are bad, not the religion.
11/15 Atheist as you get. Job is a nice story once you get past god being a megalomaniac psychotic that is willing to slaughter your family just to prove a point.
A gnostic theist is someone who believes a god exists and knows that his belief is true. The term DOES describe people who are sure of their beliefs.
It doesn't. Common misconception due to the misuse of the word "gnostic".
A gnostic theist is simply somebody who believes that it's possible to prove the existence of a god.
Just keep arguing the same semantics, lets see where we get, right?
Just keep arguing the same semantics, lets see where we get, right?
as opposed to what? arguing the existence of god? these discussions can't go anywhere
How about this, instead of arguing cunting fucking labels we agree that it's not black and white and there is a full spectrum of belief. Happy?
How about this, instead of arguing cunting fucking labels we agree that it's not black and white and there is a full spectrum of belief. Happy?
No, doriol will bitch about this too.
