Oops, in that case, we need to invent a cheap residential method of refining oil.
Here are some neat videos on the process.

Fucking hell, the first rule of ratings club is that you don't talk about ratings!
I'd rather they didn't. The US is one of the worst polluters on the planet and cheap gas is a definitely a part of it.

They were the ones who saw the falling oil prices, and made a collective decision to continue to let them fall.
Speculation: I've read that, for many reasons, this is an attempt by oil to make alternative energy less attractive. For most businesses, its working; why throw up more solar panels when electricity from oil-powered electric stations is at an all time low? Why buy a Prius when you're not going to be saving money with prices this low? Yes, the prices will rise again, but this has already been effective in stunting the growth of the alternative energy industry.
makes sense. I've recently seen Exon commercials that try to convince the viewer that gasoline is better than electric. I've never seen a commercial like that before then

I don't know about that but I know backseat moderating is
Wait a minute...
It goes way down every winter and shoots back up every summer. It's just lower than normal this winter. Not really anything to be concerned about. It's just nice while it's lasting
What's the agenda behind this? It seems like intentional massive scale market manipulation. Is it trying to hurt Russia, hurt the US, or preserve Saudi and Iraqi market share by driving oil too close to the cost per barrel to produce shale oil?
I have no idea and its fascinating.
It's just ECON Macro 101 and some geopolitics applied.
Nothing else.
It will amaze you if you don't know the fact that the US has had a boom in its oil production due to fracking and what's the OPEC and the relationship of its countries with the US.
@STOPPER
*OPEC = Certain countries...not all can sell their barrels at 10$ e/u
It doesn't matter if the US market can or can't compete, the Government will just pour money into it

Production went up significantly faster than expected demand. Both Europe and China had a significantly lower demand than expected. Top that with methods which were RnDed while petrol was expensive which still bring benefits.
Basically a lot of big long term gas buyers aren't buying as much in advance. In part because the prices kept falling and many want to see just how it will go.

That's for raw oil. Consumer sold gas is a bit different. And I've definitely seen a change in price at gas stations as well.

Honest question. Where do you think that consumer gas comes from?
Unless you're talking about natural gas, in which case rises every winter because of the demand to heat peoples' houses.
I cry every time when I see the american petrol prices. God damn it americans, give us a share of that sweet ass freedom!
I cry every time I see how good your public transportation is, Give us more trains please.
5 gold coin pieces per gal where i live
i hope the gas drops further, it would be nice to have 1980-tier gas prices
Prepare yourself for an entire thread of people posting fuel prices.
The DOWJ dropped 300 points when the crude dropped. I think they're getting spooked about how low it can go
But why? Most companies would certainly benefit from the lower price of oil. Like those in manufacturing, transport, agriculture and tech business to name a few.

It often can indicate poor economic conditions when it drops this quickly (ironically). Which is what has them spooked. Unfortunately, I don't really study economic factors so I can't go in depth why.

It hasn't even dropped to below $3 a gallon in a bit of a while, let alone it hitting under $2
yay $6.3/gallon
beats the ~$9/gallon we had last year
Many logistics entrepreneurs were talking how they have to quit because fuel prices are too high last year. This is a good thing
Damn still waiting on the day it would cost under 100$ to fill up my puny little ranger.
Which is probably never.
Paid $2.34 per gallon today in South Florida.
Thanks Obama
I already have a friend on Facebook bickering about this, because he ran off and joined the Oil-Boom and is now ultimately on the chopping block due to the dropping prices, saying "This wouldn't have happened if Congress had gotten off their asses and stepped up American oil production!"
Uh...
Yep. They don't care so much they just had to rate the the thing they totally don't care about.
The following is a list of intelligent people that care at all about ratings:
