• American "Akira" Film Exploring All-White Cast

Possibly the best animated film to come out of Japan (besides Hayao Miyazakis creations) ever. There is not a shadow of a doubt Hollywood is going to make some shitty-ass version.
I should embolden that too. There is just so much fuck-up in such little text. The original Akira was heavily influenced by Japanese culture and folklore, how could they do this?
It's funny because the manga was actually heavily influenced by Otomo's love of American action films.
Does it really matter that they are all white, at all? I find it hypocritical and overly racist that they force us to have a PERCENTAGE of other race actors in movies, if we want to all be treated the same then why the FUCK do we force that? I honestly don't give a shit if my main character is black, I give a shit if the movie has a good story, I'm not sitting here going "That movie is a piece of shit, fucking black guy ruins the whole movie." FUCK no, I am sitting here going "Well, the movie's story is fuzzy and the acting is pretty bad." It's like how half the fucking country got butthurt if you said you didn't like obama, they INSTANTLY went to the racist place, I'm not racist you fuck, I just didn't agree with one of his ideas, what the fuck is wrong with you! I'm not racist, I'm far from it, I don't give a shit if you're mexcian, black, asian, latin-american, native american, what ever other fucking race you can think of, I don't give a shit. I'd care more about the migration patterns of dustmites or watching paint dry than if you are a different or even the same race as me.
the man with no name was directly inspired by the main character of yojimbo doesn't make the good the bad and the ugly a japanese movie
Not what I meant, I was simply correcting him is all. It's still Japanese yes, with many hints at folklore and culture, but the meat of it was Otomo's love of American action films.
In the live adaptation of Cromartie High School, there was an Japanese man portraying Freddy Mercury.
wait they made a live adaptation of cromartie high why would you do that
NO
Ah, yes. A bunch of pasty white-ass honkies being named Setsuo Shima, Shotaro Kaneda, Yuji Takeyama, etc. And the director who made Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore. This will truly be a successful film.
It's a well known fact that hollywood can't make a movie based outside of it's own country as they do not know a world even exists outside of america. This live-action remake was doomed to suck from the start.
It doesn't matter anyways. Hollywood has already ran out of ideas long ago.
Dude I'll watch it anyway,
So will they have harley-davidsons instead?
They are going to fuck this shit up so bad it wont even be funny.
So will they have harley-davidsons instead?
Yeah, and the city will be called Neowashington
Yeah, and the city will be called Neowashington
new manhatten THREAD MUSIC
And the time just after that. [img_thumb]http://www.filmofilia.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/last_airbender_pic.jpg[/img_thumb]
I think you are thinking more of this:
Good. The movie will be less weabooized.
Good. The movie will be less weabooized.
have you ever watched or read akira because it is the polar opposite of weeaboo
I think you are thinking more of this: [img_thumb]http://kawaiikakkoiisugoi.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/speed-racer-poster.jpg[/img_thumb]
and what's wrong with that movie? people were expecting it to have some massive level of depth, and it was simply meant to be a purely emotion-driven film -perfect casting -phenomenal score by giacchino who's basically responsible for the entire pixar movie line -a very distinct visual style that will influence the next several years of pop art culture i can understand the cynicism when it comes to hollywood taking on non-american material, but seriously have some faith. this is going to be WB's baby, all pride and joy, for the amount of money and time they're putting into this film. steve kloves is the man behind the adaptation, and he's been responsible for 7 of the harry potter films, so i can only hold nothing but cautious optimism after his decent work handling them. and according to wikipedia, the directors allen & albert hughes are " known for co-directing such visceral, and often violent, movies as Menace II Society, From Hell and The Book of Eli." surely that sounds like a well-rounded team
Good. The movie will be less weabooized.
akira is one of those non-weaboo things because its 80's
I expected no less. I can let it slide that they're Americanizing the movie (I mean, really, that was inevitble for Hollywood to do) But their actor choices are even worse. If any other Akira movies are to be made, they should be done in the same style and animation as the first one.
[img_thumb]http://fatboyroberts.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/akiraactors1.jpg?w=550[/img_thumb] Fucking really? I am speechless. Picture stolen from a great Blog Post about this, pretty much sums up my reaction: http://fatboyroberts.wordpress.com/2011/03/23/requiem-for-neo-tokyo/
They all look the same
The Last Airbender was an American animation show to begin with.
That makes the total fuckup even worse.
So will they have harley-davidsons instead?
Everything chrome.
Ow wow, look on the fifth guys forehead. Probably looks like the guy that thought this one up.
Sounds interesting, but how will the pull off the special effects in Akira without making it looks terribly cheesy?
Last time they did it: [img_thumb]http://www.filmjunk.com/images/weblog/dragonballmovieintrouble.jpg[/img_thumb]
Wat
FUCK HOLLYWOOD. FUCK THEM ALL. I HOPE THEY GET FUCKING SKINNED AND THROWN INTO A POOL OF VINEGAR, THOSE FUCKING VAPID, BRAINLESS, NARCISSISTIC, SHALLOW, AFTERBIRTHS. FUCK.
Wow it's not that big of a deal. I mean it is bad but really no need to throw a tantrum.
They all look the same
Wow racism now TH? How far you've fallen [editline]24th March 2011[/editline] It's been pretty much proven that doing this shit pisses a lot of people off and rarely leads to good movie, why would you even bother
