There's also a lot of absolutely terrible things that happen in NK. There are two AMA's I can remember from Reddit - One was with an actual North Korean defector. He said visiting is not a bad idea, as it DOES expose the people to foreigners and that MAYBE one day it will allow enough North Koreans to finally rebel against the ruling elite. There are already small cells actively working against the regime. The other AMA was with the owner of the largest tour company who deals with NK, he mentioned that the VICE guide was fairly sensationalist. But I guess he only sees the fairytale side of the country too.
;39728082']makes me wish we bombed North Korea tell it was just a crater, innocent people would die, but dying is better than this.
Looks like you don't value life very well.
Except for those trapped inside, unable to see their nation from the perspective of the developed world.
Which makes it all so much more tragic. Being trapped in prison is one thing. But being born in one, live all your life in there? It may seem tolerable-ish for the person, because he really doesn't know how other people live. Isolation and indoctrination is the worst thing.
Equal if not worse than the nazis did during world war, and this is happening today! Why do we accept this in todays world, we should free this people from torture and supression
You guys should read this. Prisoners must kneel down on the ground and keep their heads down deeply whenever called by a guard, they can say nothing except to answer questions asked. Repeated failure to meet the work quotas means a week's time in a punishment cell.
wow what the fuck
Is there ever going to be an end for this senseless suffering?
honestly the issue is being ignored and we need to like bring more awareness to this, politicians understand this fully but they dont see it as important because the public demand is low so i reckon if you really want to do something about this you write to your member for congress/parliament (Handwritten post not email)
i'd actually like to visit north korea someday, see how terrible it is.
Their country is a fucking gulag.
If you attack NK,god help you when China steps in to NK's side.
i'd actually like to visit north korea someday, see how terrible it is.
You'd see nothing because they'll only show you the "good" areas.
When I hear 'gulag' I instantly think of
You know, I think I'm starting to realise just how fucking disgusting this country is. The things it does are quite literally medieval.
You'd see nothing because they'll only show you the "good" areas.
even then, it'd be interesting to see what sort of farce they'd present me with. as said in the thread, the facade they put up is obvious to absolutely anyone. one wonders what would happen if a tourist found a way to bring up the testimony posted earlier.
You know, I think I'm starting to realise just how fucking disgusting this country is. The things it does are quite literally medieval.
Medieval people didn't kill babies on birth and forced people to work for 18 hours a day.
Wait the labor camps are in Russia? Well you learn something new every day.
Why can't the US just go overthrow the government and make it part of the US and shit?
Why can't the US just go overthrow the government and make it part of the US and shit?
Because I'm fairly sure that's called invasion
Because I'm fairly sure that's called invasion
Not just that, it's called annexation, and is a major military offense.
We need another viral video that brings as much awareness to what's happening in North Korea as Kony 2012 did with Kony. I've always feared hearing about a nuke going off on people in my life time. North Korea is probably the biggest threat. And no I don't mean I'm afraid of them nuking us. But I can easily see them going overboard and nuking themselves/South Korea. EDIT: I say the nuke thing in addition to the shitty conditions of its' people. I know there's SO much wrong with NK as a whole.
Why can't the US just go overthrow the government and make it part of the US and shit?
Economics. Can you tell me what good, economically, going to war with North Korea would bring. Seoul would be devastated or destroyed. The entirety of North Korea would need to be rebuilt to meet modern infrastructure standards. Not directly counting for casualties from war, but add into the fact that South Korea would be required to bring North Koreans up to modern health practices and aid for alignments brought by undernourishment. Also adding on to nourishment... The United States[or NATO allies] would have to open something to fix issues regarding agriculture in North Korea, while providing food for the now several million refugees. I shouldn't even need to start with the cult of personality, and guerilla warfare. The entire war would be a massive clusterfuck which would last decades, and the long terms effects for centuries.
Why can't the US just go overthrow the government and make it part of the US and shit?
Because the US is the only existing country in the world, right fellow Murrcens?
