The march forward happens in steps. The fact that we have conservatives and liberals, but also have had vast societial progress, must mean that over time liberal ideas become conservative ones.

Those were conservative views at one point. Homosexuality was once completely shunned by conservatives. It still is to a degree, but the fact that they even let a gay man speak at ge RNC, and that there are icons like Milo speaks that it is changing. The point is that over time we get more liberal. Or else the conservatives would still be stuck in the 1700s.
