Chaos is a ladder /GoT
So why are we clamboring for Aerys Targaryen
Not a fan of either candidate, but I gotta admit that speech of his was full of energy. I'd be impressed if Clinton can even pull in half as much enthusiasm.
Maybe it's a subtle fuck you to the GOP and RNC since they were against Trump at first. They didn't get what they want. But (to Trump, anyway) They got what they need.
Yeah about as subtle as a hand grenade. :v:
You can have a light discussion and still have it dealt in facts. I see less of a discussion and more a desire to keep the populist circle jerk going.
I see you conveniently ignored my other post and focused on one you could bitch about, but since the stream is basically done I've got no problems with people picking up where we left off. Arguing during a megathread while the event is still going on really doesn't make sense, it clogged up other threads and I was trying to avoid people going "well I was trying to pay attention but you assholes arguing about X are making it hard." You know, trying to keep the common courtesy up to at least a bare minimum. I can't actually stop anyone from doing anything, so the fact that people politely declined to continue with the discussion tells me I might have been on to something.
So why are we clamboring for Aerys Targaryen
Because he'll dump the wildfire all over the brown people.
So why are we clamboring for Aerys Targaryen
Because Olenna Tyrell is the other option and she's one incompetent crusty old cunt if there ever was one.
The DNC is going to crash and burn there is no possible way it can follow up this convention
It'll be a private party at a Chuck E. Cheese. Also where my fellow MAGAs at?
AND IT'S OVER BEST MOMENTS/REFLECTION TIME
Circus lady yesterday and avocados woman the day before. One had a good speech and some stuff to say and wasn't defined by guacamole memes, but the other opened up with crazy and rode that train all the way home. Of course Ted telling Trump to fuck himself in not so many words! Reflection? Maybe I'm more leaning toward Trump than I thought, what would decide that is some comprehensive statement about what he wants to do, why, and how he's going to do it. Speeches just aren't enough.
It'll be a private party at a Chuck E. Cheese. Also where my fellow MAGAs at?
MAGA reporting in I thought the most dramatic point for the Republican Party was having their nominee openly address the LGBTQ community and promising to support them, and then Trump acknowledging what that meant for the Republican Party.

Everything he said at the convention minus a few parts are things I can easily gel with. But there needs to be a plan, rather than promises. Promises got us Obama, so I'm wary enough of that. At any rate, the road to November just got a lot more interesting.
The "hidden genius" argument again. You'll have a very hard time selling me that the GOP/Trump suddenly cares about LGBTQ.
Did you miss the standing ovation a openly GAY Republican got just now?
I didn't expect the convention to turn out like this after that disaster that was the first night. I guess they saved the best for last
AND IT'S OVER BEST MOMENTS/REFLECTION TIME
My favorite part was when that one speaker said that he wasn't going to drone on about hillary and instead talk about trump
Seems like the Republicans gave up on gay policy sometime after the SCOTUS made Gay marriage legal. Not to mentioned gay is a new normal now that transgender people took the spotlight. I can see Republicans lightening up on homosexuality, and shifting to Trans issues (like the bathroom stuff) [editline]21st July 2016[/editline] Gay marriage was always an evangelical thing, though. So there will always be conservatives fighting it. But their influence in the GOP might waiver.
Did you miss the standing ovation a openly GAY Republican got just now?
Have you guys read the GOP platform?
AND IT'S OVER BEST MOMENTS/REFLECTION TIME
The standing ovation given to an openly gay republican at the Republican National Convention in 2016. The true image of what equality should mean.
Have you guys read the GOP platform?
I don't think it matters at this point. The GOP is going through a rift. The platform has to change with it. We'll see, but it's visibly clear that republicans are loosening up on homosexuality. Trans is different.

If politicians stood up there and went into detail about their plans everyone would fall asleep. Bernie, Hilary, Trump, Cruz, Rubio, they all do this. Here's my general outlook, go to my website to read about it.
AND IT'S OVER BEST MOMENTS/REFLECTION TIME
Ted Cruz standing by personal conviction for possibly the first time in his political career
It'll be a private party at a Chuck E. Cheese. Also where my fellow MAGAs at?
MAGA Reporting in, even got the hat
Did you miss the standing ovation a openly GAY Republican got just now?
Yes And even still, it's going to take a lot more than that for me to believe they're changing their stance on an issue they've spent decades fighting against. Especially with a lot of the other things Trump's daughter said that were core opposite of what the GOP follows.

Frankly, I'm happy to see all of this.

Trans is different.
It's not like this platform is Bush-era they published it right before the convention. If you think the party is pro gay because they cheered a gay businessman who pumped a shitzillion dollars into the race then you are being had Don't you think its a little bizarre that the same guy had to ask who cares about transgender bathrooms at the convention for the party that just made it a policy stance?.
Yes And even still, it's going to take a lot more than that for me to believe they're changing their stance on an issue they've spent decades fighting against. Especially with a lot of the other things Trump's daughter said that were core opposite of what the GOP follows.
The side that many considered to be the most homophobic just stood and gave a loud applause to an openly gay person at the Republican National convention. What more do you want? Also what's not to say Trump might actually do the greatest thing and make Republicanism and Conservatism popular again for everybody, rather than a GOP party ran by grumpy old hateful people. Right now you're seeing it all. Women, Blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals, everyone is coming out in support for Trump now.
A gay person received a standing ovation, and Milo Yiannopoulos held a big party uniting Republican gays, and basically creating Gays for Trump. Frankly, I'm happy to see all of this.
Exactly. The platform of a conservative party with a strong evangelical base isn't going to change over night. It's going to be a drawn out process but it's clearly happening. "Marriage between a man and a woman" will exist in the GOP platform as long as evangelicals still hold a large influence there. [editline]21st July 2016[/editline]
It's not like this platform is Bush-era they published it right before the convention. [editline]21st July 2016[/editline] And I already commentted about how Transgender issues will take the brunt of the attack since the GOP essentially lost the gay marriage issue with the Supreme Court decision.
I think it has a lot to do wit the whole "socially liberal, fiscally conservative" crowd getting larger and larger. It's been coming for a while. Hell, lots of Christian communities are warming up to gays. I can't say I disapprove. I'd be glad to see the party move towards living your life the way that makes you happy, free of government bearing down on you and persecution based on one of the dozens of categories you can put people to heel with.
Theres no way in hell the GOP will let that gay marriage ruling just stay like that. PS: Peter Thiel is a godawful person. He's a right-libertarian fuck who wants to give rich people (like himself) tax cuts and destroy the economony with laissez faire policies. Personally, I think the GOP tolerates him only because he's a billionaire that will line their pockets.
Theres no way in hell the GOP will let that gay marriage ruling just stay like that.
Couples are already married.(my uncle included) It would be suicide for them to end that. It's over. The Republicans lost. Churches don't have to do it. That should be enough. They just need to get over it and move on.

Then there's things that just don't make any fucking sense like the wall bullshit, it's so goddamn dumb. Unless he's going to pull an FDR or China and just artificially make jobs I don't see how this is even remotely a good idea, and even if he did do that it's still a bad idea. He's friends with a bunch of tech giants, you would think he could find somebody to give him a 21st century option. There are other things like his tax plan that make me go "yeah, I like that" but at the same time I question some things but that's just my libertarianism acting up again.
Couples are already married.(my uncle included) It would be suicide for them to end that. It's over. The Republicans lost. Churches don't have to do it. That should be enough. They just need to get over it and move on.
That was the biggest concern, the preservation of the religious institutions. Even a lot of pro-LGBT conservatives were willing to vote against measures based on that fact alone, the way lawmakers worded things and the way campaigns were run made things really fucking confusing. I remember our anti-gay marriage law and people had no idea what to vote and would get into arguments over it, it was ridiculous.
