p2p uses an insane amount of bandwidth, and a university with a super high speed connection to all of it's student halls becomes a major problem because it ends up being the perfect place for others to download from, raping the uni data connection. I remember at my uni we were getting actual speeds of 1.5 mega[I]bytes[/I] pretty much constantly, and most importantly upload speeds not far below that.

That's the problem with p2p in use in big high speed networks like the uni ones, the faster your connection the more bandwidth it's going to take.
