did she do something bad that i missed or are you just being funny
i chuckled either way but now I do wonder
I remember a while ago there was an article that made FP hate her, but I think most people have probably forgotten about it. Somebody went to one of her speeches and did nothing but turn his back to her in protest, and was dragged out of the room while she was incredibly smug about it.
There's an article I found with a quick google about it here with a video at the bottom.
The fuck?
It's called an assault rifle because it's a rifle intended for 'assault'.
Actually it's called an Assault Rifle because the class took its name from the Sturmgewehr 44 (Storm* Rifle), the original Assault Rifle.
* = "Storm" was translated as "Assault", hence Assault Rifle
gun owners are now the most oppressed minority on the planet
This got derailed. FAST.
no they're not illegal,
Wrong. Assault rifles are heavily regulated, and owning one can cost up to $20,000.
an AR 15 is an assault rifle,
Are you telling me these are both assault rifles? They're pretty much the same gun, only one has a larger magazine.
What does Hillary Clinton have to do with guns again?
We should have a new law for this: "As a thread in SH grows longer, the probability of the thread turning into a gun debate approaches 1."

Newman's Equation

So a gun debate never actually starts?
What does Hillary Clinton have to do with guns again?
Apparently she demonized gun owners. We haven't exactly been elucidated as to when or how though.

Could be from her botched 2008 campaign. I can't find anything on google with "Hillary Clinton gun ownership" though..
I keep reading the topic title as "Hilary Clinton suffers a concussion after farting"
So a gun debate never actually starts?
There are loads of numbers between 0 and 1.
There are loads of numbers between 0 and 1.
What you said doesn't makes any sense unless 1 == gun debate, and if so, would mean that a gun debate never starts.

that's not how probability works
If the probability of something is 0.6 that means there is a 60% chance it will happen

Are you sure. That doesn't sound right to me.

1 means 100%.
probability isn't binary, you can have numbers in between 0 and 1 to illustrate the chance of something happening at any given point in time.
1 means 100%.

ok. Then I guess it does make sense.
an assault rifle is not defined by whether or not it's fully automatic
Uhm, actually it is and you're wrong:
"A so-called "assault rifle" is an undefined [1] select-fire (either fully automatic or burst capable) rifle that uses an intermediate cartridge and a detachable magazine. It is not to be confused with assault weapons.[2] Assault rifles are the standard service rifles in most modern armies. Assault rifles are categorized in between light machine guns, which are intended more for sustained automatic fire in a light support role, and submachine guns, which fire a pistol cartridge rather than a rifle cartridge."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assault_rifle
No civilian can purchase or own an Assault rifle without a Class 3 license, which, as buttsex said, is limited to all that crap or if you're former/active military, government employee that could warrant the need for one, or active law enforcement.
Just because it has a pistol grip doesn't mean it's an assault rifle.
If it were, then every rifle could very well be an assault rifle.
