• Congressmen Introduce Game Labeling Bill

We should put warning labels on Congressmen for low IQ, it's backed up by our growing scientific evidence. It seems like, these days, that if anyone wants to get people to believe their bullshit, all they have to do is say "It has been proven by our SCIENTIFIC study!"
I thought Republicans were all about small government and less regulation. OH WAIT NOT WHEN IT DOESN'T CONFORM TO MY CONSERVATIVE MORAL VALUES THEN THE GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO STEP IN.
Hey retard it's bi-partisan before you jump on the empty bandwagon.
Don't care, haven't seen a real case in ages.
They do. CD: The MPAA rates films and subjection to ratings is optional. However, almost all theaters require a rating below NC-17 to be screened. And if the government (or a government entity) doesn't like a book, they just ban or censor it.
That's the same thing as ESRB ratings, but that apparently isn't enough.
Oh so Mr. Republican, When science is disproving god it's awful and should be condemned, but when science is creating(evidently bullshit) links between video games and violence it's OK? Massive doublestandards you fat, corpulent prick.
Tempted to post on FSTDT. Soooo tempted...
I have been playing a lot of violent games and I have never in my life punched or harmed a person. [editline]21st March 2012[/editline] I did push some kid into a bush when I was a child, but that's because he pissed me off. It's not like the bush hurt him.
I dont know if anyone posted this yet but, isnt this just being as redundant as the box for Conkers Bad Fur Day? Are we gonna start needing the opening screen when you load the games to have even more warnings, with the age number everywhere?
It doesn't matter really as gaming industries already have the ESRB labels plus disclaimers all over. This won't get anywhere as the player is warned and the industry can't get their ass busted because someone under the age murdered someone after "playing some GTA". Read the signs, kids.
Warning: This Video game may cause congress to be stupid as fuck, no wait, they are already
Man spills hot coffee on self, gets burns, sues the company who gave him the coffee. Coffee now has a warning label saying that it is hot, man spills coffee on self, can't sue them because he was warned. This would be a good thing in my eyes if the label wasn't so incorrect.

The only outrage here is that the label isn't being put on violent movies and tv shows.
When I get mad at a game I just clench my fist and shake it angrily at the monitor

Ahaha, atleast this doesn't affect me! I'm an adult now! ;D Also, when my children get videogames I HOPE TO GOD they pick out the rated M games. Hell, I'll give it to them for their first birthday.
it's not the violent media that causes it, it's stupid idiots that can't control themselves
Violent media doesn't cause any action. It increases aggressiveness in the brain and makes people more likely to take certain actions that may be harmful. Aggression can be a good thing, as well. In order to become a corporate executive you have to be aggressive at the right times, for example. However, a parent should be aware that something is linked to increased aggression, and be given the choice to act in accordance with their parenting philosophy.
Problems with American society: - Racism? - Homophobia? - Consumerism? - Gluttony? - Anti-social behaviour? NOPE IT'S VIDEO GAMES GUYS. Just like how Rock and roll is fine (because the generation in power grew up on it) despite it being treated how the media treats video games now...
woah way to go with those generalizations buddy
attn: exessive exposure to politics may cause bullshit
attn: exessive exposure to politics may cause bullshit
ban politics (haha i fucking wish)
Current ratings in the United States for videos games are completely optional. The ESRB is a private organization and you are in no way required to do jack shit with them.
The same thing with movies and their rating system, but good luck getting your product published mainstream without them rating it.
And yet, since the years videogames were first popularized, violence in people ages 11-17 have dropped to almost a third of what it used to be.
WARNING: THIS GAME WILL CAUSE VIOLENCE
Legalize weed to counter violence.
Because weed will fix everything.
Yea, thanks to social and economic changes over those years. You can't just lay a graph of how many people play video games over graphs of crime rates and make any accurate claim. That's not how science works, that's an embarrassment to science. [editline]22nd March 2012[/editline] I mean, as you can see here: The rate of dogs being euthanized went down as crime went down. Euthanize less dogs and stop crime once and for all!
