People do that in bath houses aswell.
Bath houses still exist and people go to them??!
Anyone in America that swims in lakes/rivers is dumb, there's a ridiculous amount of awful shit in those waters, not only are they full of bacteria and viruses (many of which are significantly worse than usual), but also all kinds of nasty shit from pollution, and finally to top off the shit-show there's literal shit and piss floating around as well. Blah blah yes call me a shut-in or whatever else you've got I don't care, I'd rather be called names than have a head full of brain-eating amoebas, chemical waste, and feces.
Any large body of water is going to have some concentration of animal waste, reproductive matter, dead things, and garbage floating around in it. Better if the water is moving, though, stagnant water is a literal breeding ground.
Of course all waters are going to have some bad shit on them, but America's waters are absolutely atrocious, we've trashed our environment thoroughly.
Not really, get out of the east coast and there are plenty of non trashed lakes

I bet that's really scary.
What's it like to be afraid of your own shadow? I bet that's really scary.
"Out of the 92 healthy adults screened in the study, nearly 44 percent of them had the virus, the authors said." I can live without jumping in a lake if it means my brain won't be infected by a virus. Not really a big deal.
"Out of the 92 healthy adults screened in the study, nearly 44 percent of them had the virus, the authors said." I can live without jumping in a lake if it means my brain won't be infected by a virus. Not really a big deal.
Okay, I thought we went to doctors for a reason though. You know, to find out if we have anything wrong with us so it can get diagnosed and treated. Oh, and I'm pretty sure neither of you knew about this until this article came along so saying "oh, I never swim in a lake because of this" is fucking dumb, you didn't know this existed. I'm pretty sure the brain-eating amoebas and chemical waste aren't going to be a problem for me because I live in Minnesota. Animal feces, maybe, but then again I live on a farm so I'm already exposed to feces. I'm not afraid of whatever microbes that live in the water because I don't have a compromised immune system and I practice basic hygiene.
god after looking through this thread i wouldn't be surprised if some people caught the virus here
You live in Minnesota? Good for you, meanwhile the rest of us live in places where there's actual human civilization and all the local water sources are polluted to hell. A lot of the infections you can get from these bacteria and viruses are either detected too late (because their early symptoms appear harmless or similar to non-fatal infections) and/or aren't even treatable by any current medications.
I didn't know having a robust environmental protection agency and strict legislation was a mark of being uncivilized. Guess that just goes with the territory being an idiot for going swimming though, (your words buddy) I guess I'm just not on the level as you fancy city folk! Fun thing about viruses and bacteria, once they're discovered there's usually an effort to protect against them if they're harmful to humans or livestock. Since this viral infection literally makes you a moron I'm pretty sure that alarming fact alone will be enough incentive to make that happen.
You do have a point--There's nothing wrong with being adventurous--But don't chastise others for not joining in with questionably stupid shit they're fully aware of especially when it could just end up saving you time and money by not doing it.
I'm not chastising him for being cautious, I don't care what he does or doesn't do because it's not my business. This all started because of this:
Anyone in America that swims in lakes/rivers is dumb,
I wouldn't have said shit if he didn't insinuate that: Most people in my region are dumb, especially for wanting to go swimming of all things. We don't take care of our natural resources. [editline]11th November 2014[/editline] Seriously, I don't know what fucking industrial-waste cesspool he comes from, but our lakes are tested every couple of months for all sorts of things. Polluting the waterways doesn't carry some fifty dollar fine and some community service here, depending on how bad it gets the fines can quickly soar up to hundreds of thousands of dollars and the same is true across the Upper Midwest. We take this shit seriously and we pride ourselves on preserving our natural areas, especially the lakes.
The secret of American politicians revealed.
wow dude if cubeman can read this he will be mad at you
Could you imagine what would happen if we airdropped to ISIS a hundred baskets full of hotcross buns with this virus in them?
Probably absolutely nothing.
People do that in bath houses aswell.
Boy it's sure a good thing that: 1) We don't have those 2) I wouldn't go to one if we had them
Boy it's sure a good thing that: 1) We don't have those 2) I wouldn't go to one if we had them
You don't want to bathe in other peoples' filth? What's wrong with you?
I don't go swimming in lakes, but I do go kayaking at my uncle's lake house every summer. I'll probably keep doing that, because kayaking is fun and I sincerely doubt I could become more stupid than I already am. I mean, I'm here, aren't I?
Is this what gives Mountain Dew its color?
Is this what gives Mountain Dew its color?
Bad news. You're infected. Edit : oh wait
Us government bio-weapon against its own population.
Yeah but fish pee, shit, and jizz in there.
rather have that than human piss shit jizz near beaches/swimming pools
Anyone in America that swims in lakes/rivers is dumb, there's a ridiculous amount of awful shit in those waters, not only are they full of bacteria and viruses (many of which are significantly worse than usual), but also all kinds of nasty shit from pollution, and finally to top off the shit-show there's literal shit and piss floating around as well. I go swimming all the time in rivers and lakes and they're really not that dirty.
I definitely have this virus.
Yeah but fish pee, shit, and jizz in there.
So do I.
I can understand being scared of this virus but some people in this thread are going beyond "frightened" into hypochondria
I can understand being scared of this virus but some people in this thread are going beyond "frightened" into hypochondria
So, wait, are more people here going to become stupid by thinking they have a virus that makes them stupid, when in actuality they're fine? Isn't that kind of stupid to begin with? Have we just created some sort of weird hypochondrical loop?
Somebody, somewhere out there is looking for a way to weaponize this. Could you imagine what would happen if we airdropped to ISIS a hundred baskets full of hotcross buns with this virus in them?
Then the thousands of stupid people with guns would become thousands of really stupid people with guns
the same type of people that drink tap water and wear jeans two days in a row shocking i know
I live in an area that has the cleanest and most calcium free water in the world so why wouldn't I drink tap water, it's cleaner than bottled water
Boy it's sure a good thing that: 1) We don't have those 2) I wouldn't go to one if we had them
A "bath house" in Sweden just means an indoor public pool btw
