Except farmers aren't insane when they kill their cows. Unless they are insane. If so, they need help.
I see angry, mad cow.
Maybe if I blare my siren at it that'l calm it down.
Seems a good plan to me.
This is my hometown. Everybody here is a police-hating asshole and is going crazy with some saying "I would have taken that gun and shot the cops instead hurr durr". My only disappointment is that they didn't use something heavier than their pistols to do it.
cops here use 45. acp
Stupid cow should have Hoofed it, it's not like it couldn't have mooved out of the way. What's the cops beef anyway? What an udderly pointless waste.
I think that's enough, Milked it a bit much there.
That was the cheesiest response to a thread I've ever seen.

And, truly, the cows probably would have died later on for meat, and it's probably a worse way to die for any animal. Even so, it's the same as that exotic animal thing that happened in Ohio. Something had to be done to prevent harm to the public. Though in this case, I would consider cows more docile than Bengal tigers...
The youtube comments in that video are just so damn mind-numbing.
They had permission from the owner and actual safety justifications which may seem odd because to us cows are adorable and silly creatures, it's hard to imagine them being dangerous
I'm surprised this is even a matter of debate
cops here use 45. acp
I thought it was used almost everywhere in the US because it doesn't overpenetrate?
eh fuck the cow
I always find it interesting how different reactions would be if you switched animals from what they are to say cats or people
you'd get a biiiiiiiiiiig fucking different reaction
HURR DURR ANIMAL CRUELTY!
Angry cows are dangerous. It was for the best and the saftey of those nearby.
The most idiotic part about this debate is that if the owner were to kill that cow on his own, nobody in the comment section would have said a god damn thing.
The comments section shows people are unable to tell the difference between a cow and a calf, to the point one person said, "It's a calf, the worst it can do is give you a light bruise."
Living out in the sticks in Texas this would happen quite often. Usually the ranchers would just cowboy up and rope it. Manya times the cowboy kids would come to school late all dressed in their dirty boots and what have you because they had to go wrangle a cow. Happened in my front yard once but that was in Alberta, Canada which is nearly the Texas of the north, anyway.
This.
Living in BC for ten years I saw this a lot. Catching stray cows is cake. Out east they just do not have the skills or experience.
I actually remember a long, long time ago (this had to be 1997 or something) when I lived in Ontario there was a cattle truck that flipped over on the expressway, releasing cows everywhere. All they could do was shoot them.
The fact that the cow was being flat-out dangerous? Sure, I guess that's kind of justified.
But the fact that the "owner of the cattle" said so? No. That's not justified.
Imagine a parent saying "yeah, sure, go ahead, kill my child," simply because the child was being reckless and violent.
The difference is that children don't weigh several hundred pounds and aren't really capable of killing people by charging them.
I bet one of these guys was eating a cheeseburger while he commented on how awful it was that they shot the poor cow.
The cow was a bit young, shoulda just shot the legs then finished him off. Not let it suffer.
yeah shooting the legs doesn't make the cow suffer!
it was justified, they could've done in a more appropriate way
I've walked past cows who are wandering free on the road before, it's a miracle I'm still here.
I'll make sure to bring a gun the next time.
Entirely different as cows are not humans
It's another living thing. Thus, you're saying that it's life isn't as valuable to simply because it isn't the same species of animal as you.
cops here use 45. acp
Not in most parts of the U.S. or any NATO country, Due to it being a low-velocity round and having less penetration for overall more stopping power NATO have switched to 9mm.
"That's not really a gun, is it?"
Of course not! It's just a device that fires a tiny metal fragment at high speeds towards a target.
Not in most parts of the U.S. or any NATO country, Due to it being a low-velocity round and having less penetration for overall more stopping power NATO have switched to 9mm.
More stopping power for less penetration. Maybe it's just me but that sounds like what a cop should have, considering what'd they'd be using their weapons for usually. Figure if you're at the point where penetration really does matter that much there'd already be SWAT there or something. Then again I don't know shit so eh :v:
The shooting was justified. However, the amount of time it took them to kill it wasn't.
If they were making the choice to kill it (fair enough), then they should have made sure it was dead quickly, rather than let it suffer aslong as it did. Yeh it takes a fuck load of bullets to take one down probably, but blindly shooting at it and hesitating is cruel.
what?
they seemed like they were in a terrible rush to end the ordeal
Yeah, let's shoot it five times and let it stand there and suffer for another minute yeah
At least finish the poor thing off
They were finishing it off, watch the entire clip.
Not in most parts of the U.S. or any NATO country, Due to it being a low-velocity round and having less penetration for overall more stopping power NATO have switched to 9mm.
well yeah, I thought that was the point, you don't want overpenetration in a civillian area
It's another living thing. Thus, you're saying that it's life isn't as valuable to simply because it isn't the same species of animal as you.
Yes, that's exactly what we're saying.
How else should we weight it?
It's another living thing. Thus, you're saying that it's life isn't as valuable to simply because it isn't the same species of animal as you.
Yes that is exactly what I am saying. Whats the problem?
Yes that is exactly what I am saying. Whats the problem?
I know it sounds rude, but in my opinion, it's disgusting.
WHAT THE SHIT MAN. SERIOUSLY. WHAT THE FUCKING SHIT. FUCKING COPS.
-snip-
I once lived on a dairy farm as a kid and we had 250 cows. Our cows were different because dad did'nt use the cattle prod on them and he treated them with respect, they did the same. He did'nt even have to herd them because they knew their daily routine and they all took the same spots in the dairy itself. The cows also had personalaties. Cows by nature do not attack unless they are protecting their calf. They are the nicest creatures on earth and they'd come up and say hi to ya then they'd walk off back to their groups. (Our cows were very different because we bred superior cows specifically for milking, They were just taller than a mini van and the utters were massive)
