If he wants to talk Marxist literature, he picked the wrong fight. I have a copy of 'State and Revolution' by Lenin, in which he cites Engels:
"The shabbiest police servant has more authority than the representative of the clan, but even the head of the military power of a civilized state may well envy the elder of a clan, the unrestrained respect of society."
Which ties directly into the military power issue on a grand scale:
The lack of a military coup [in the US] ... argues against you.

And how exactly are you "trying to change things"? By writing ~inspired~ remarks about the abject disgrace that is our political system, when you could for all intents and purposes join a civil rights advocacy or anti-corruption group instead, and maybe actually do something?
Because in actuality, They have no real power. The system needs an entire overhaul and reform, It's three hundred years old.
So what is social democracy then?
I mean, you alluded to it
and the way you generalize
Like really?
BLIND HATE WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT???
Are you talking about how most americans shiver when they hear the term 'socialism'?
Well, gee, I wonder how they'll react when you say this
Hey guys
what are two prominent social democratic states
surely not norway and sweden!
See reactionary socialist states. Like nazi germany, then italy, It's facism i'm talking about. I'm sorry i get socialist and facist mixed up.
[editline]16th November 2011[/editline]
Like i've said before, I'd need to write it all out for it to make complete sense, Maybe i'll do it tomorrow, or another day when i'm not so tired.
The real point of what i was saying was he's not trying to change things.
It's the same with writing, You can have extremes, But there's always another book, Another view, always another mix of horror, Romance, Among so many others.
Lol, I wasn't making fun of your fightin' spirit, mate, I was making fun of your cookie-cutter, "I just found out what politics are" view of how to fix the world.
Make a 'true democracy', 'eh? Okay, give me the specifics on what a perfect democracy is.
Make it so people can't become drastically more powerful than other people? Okay, write up a perfect system of checks and balances that not only stop wealth disparity but make it so everyone follows the rules and there are no loopholes in the laws ever. And make it so that the judiciary, legislative, executive, military sectors all perform efficiently while not being able to influence eachother negatively.
And FYI, to enforce the above ideals you'd have to make it so that people can't vote to change them, because then it would morph slowly from democracy, because things always change. And by making it so people can't vote to change a democracy to something else means that it's no longer a democracy.
See where I'm trying to go with this? Your "perfect system" is impossible.
Because in actuality, They have no real power. The system needs an entire overhaul and reform, It's three hundred years old.
Really, so LGBT lobbyists have no real influence (despite the fact that their money is the main reason we got DADT repeal and new rights for hospitalized same-sex couples)? No way anti-corruption groups could get the same kind of accomplishments?

"Impossible." "No, There's not such thing as Impossible. Improbable, Yes, Impossible, No."

I find it really hard to believe you're a "top 5%" writer. No capitalization of country names, and I have to ask, what is facism? I know what Fascism is, but facism?

Think. The lobbyists are the same ones for the patriot act and the others, Anti corruption doesn't work in today's america. Look at why they are protesting.
I'll be briefer this time.
Second point, Look at how good russia worked out. In any means true communism will not work because too many people are greedy. If everyone has the same rights then they CANNOT stop someone.
Russia not communist. moving on.
Third point, The military being here, It doesn't have to be big, we can have nation guard like we do now, With a small military, Think pre world war 1/2.
How does that stop human rights abuse and a military take-over of the government?
How do you protect American interests abroad and stop the world spiraling out of control due to the amount of regimes propped up?
For the rest, how do you protect against mob rule?
and how on earth is it supposed to be able to function if so many different entities introduce a rule
pretty much every philosopher (Rousseau and others come to mind) who thought direct diplomacy was a good idea acknowledged that it could never work on a larger scale than city-states
who has control over the military? the supreme council or?
why won't people organize themselves into parties or voting blocs?
what mechanisms are there to this that occuring?
"Impossible." "No, There's not such thing as Impossible. Improbable, Yes, Impossible, No."
You could explain why it would hold up or why your system would remain ideal, but no yeah, go with quotation marks.
"Impossible." "No, There's not such thing as Impossible. Improbable, Yes, Impossible, No."
Okay, it's cool that you just contradicted everything I said without even trying to prove me wrong, but I'd like to be properly proved wrong. If you can't give me an example of a democracy that has done all the above things continually and successfully, or you can't write up a proof of concept for this shining utopia, then I'm going to continue being a cynical cunt who believes that things will always be "okie dokie" at best when it comes to the state of things.

Except that there is an anti-corruption group, it was formed pretty recently: Wolf PAC.

OH
MY
GOD
The ACLU #1 supporters of the patriot act
could you please cite LGBTQ lobby groups that supported the patriot act?

Kind of hard considering there's never been a utopia. Norway's doing pretty good though.

He probably thinks of all lobbyists as one group, "the lobbyists", that is just a vague, amorphous entity.

similar to how he views communism, fascism, socialism and so on
Look it's 2330 here. I'm tired I have college then work in the morning. I'll explain it all out when i have the chance.

I think that's his point about having a cynical view of things.

Write up your thesis and post it in mass debate when you get the chance

Or you could have just explained it when you first mentioned it rather than assuming that everyone would go "well he says it's perfect so it must be".

I was just saying that sometimes you have a good group and a bad one, that pretty much unravels what you do.

I will ASAP, Thanks for the debate here though. I've been wanting one for a long while.

Just like 'they' totally unraveled civil rights advancements with women and minorities, am I right? Do you have any idea what the specifics are? You seem to just find vague notions of 'bad' or 'good' and run with them.
all of the 20,000+ interest groups in the united states are working towards the same goals, apparently
No it's 2011 OH MY GOD he doesn't even know what year it is!!!
What the hell are you talking about? I'm from 2566. I just got stuck here and have been living my life as one of you people.
Listen, as a few recommendations, 2013 and 2014 are going to be really shitty years, 2016 is a kickass year, and avoid Peurto Rico between 2019 and 2027. Also, don't let Bellus Dellihu become Governor of Massachusetts in 2033. That might be the most important one. We didn't fix all of the shit he did to the world until 2087.
